Victor® Sonic Spike - 1 pack

Safely send moles and gophers scurrying from your yard unharmed with this easy-to-use mole and gopher spike. When placed in the ground and activated, sonic pulses penetrate the soil, emitting a sound which is highly irritating to moles and gophers who are virtually blind and overly sensitive to sound and vibrations. Climate permitting, leave the sonic mole and gopher repeller in the ground to repel new generations of pests.

Removable Battery Sleeve

Removable Battery Sleeve

The mole and gopher sonic spike is designed with a convenient removable battery sleeve for trouble-free battery replacement. A Spike will work for 4 – 6 months on one set of alkaline batteries. Spike must be used continuously for 7-14 days before moles and gophers start to move away from the area.

Proper Placement

Be sure to insert the Spike into the soil so that the cap is flush with the ground to avoid tripping hazards and the chance of hitting it with a lawnmower. Effectiveness depends largely upon soil type: dry, sandy or peat soil does not conduct the sonic waves easily. Moist clay is the best conductor of sound.

Proper Placement
How to Use

How to Use

  1. To open, unscrew YELLOW cap counter-clockwise.
  2. Remove battery cartridge and insert 3 "D" cell batteries. Re-insert the battery cartridge into the Spike. If battery installation is correct, you will hear the first vibrating sound within 15 seconds.
  3. Tighten the cap securely to keep moisture out.
  4. Use a wooden or steel rod to make pilot holes prior to inserting the Mole & Gopher Sonic Spikes™. To prevent damage, do not hammer the Spike into the ground.
  5. Insert Spike until the bottom of the cap begins touching the ground.
  6. Insert Spike all the way into the ground. This will prevent the chance of hitting it with a lawnmower. Be certain to insert the Spike so that the cap is flush with the ground. If it protrudes an inch or two it could be a tripping hazard. Remember where the Spike is located so it may be removed for battery replacement.
  7. Remove Sonic Spike™ when flooding may occur or before ground freezes.

Will the sonic spike work for Voles?
Question by: Amelia mcgarity on Aug 9, 2019, 8:00 PM

Answer by: Woodstream (Admin) on Aug 11, 2019, 8:00 PM
Does it work on other pests such as mice or snakes?
Question by: Debbie Lillibridge on Jul 5, 2020, 8:00 PM
This product is only recommended for moles and gophers.
Answer by: Woodstream (Admin) on Jul 12, 2020, 8:00 PM
The instructions indicate it operates in a circular pattern approximately 95 feet in diameter, but it must be unobstructed. I have some landscaping border stones set about 3 inches into the ground, are those considered obstructions / will moles inside that landscaping be repelled? How about a tree and it's root structure, are these obstructions? These would both impact where I place the spikes.
Question by: Joe on Jul 7, 2020, 8:00 PM
The border stones described may alter the effectiveness of the spike.

We have 3 Victor Sonic Spikes in several locations in our yard . We are still plagued with moles . We have two dogs so must be careful with poisons . I did not want to put on your web site .Open for suggestions
Question by: Vic on May 30, 2021, 8:00 PM
Moles and gophers can’t see well, meaning they are very sensitive to sound and vibrations. Initially it is common for them to try investigating the source of the disturbance, even tunneling close to the spike, trying to figure out what is causing the noise.  Normally, a decrease in activity should be seen in about 7-14 days. Please feel free to give us a buzz at 1-855-584-2867 for additional assistance.
