High-Voltage Shock Humanely Kills Rodents

High-Voltage Shock Humanely Kills Rodents

The Rat Zapper® Classic is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when a rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, it steps on the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a continuous high-voltage shock for 2 minutes to effectively eliminate rat invader. This trap is capable of eliminating up to 20 rats per set of fully charged batteries (4 “AA”).

LED Light Alerts

With the Rat Zapper® Classic Rat Trap, simplifying your pest control routine is a breeze. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes green to indicate a kill. You’ll know when it’s time to empty your trap without having to check manually.

No-Touch Cleanup

No-Touch Cleanup

With the Rat Zapper® Classic, cleanup is effortless! Unlike standard rat traps, you don’t have to touch or look at dead rodents. The rat is contained within the kill chamber, which hides it from sight, while the indicator light lets you know when it’s time to empty. After a kill, just tip the trap to discard the dead rodent into the trash without having to touch it.

How to Set the Rat Zapper® Classic Rat Trap

For your convenience, the Rat Zapper® Classic Rat Trap is very easy to use. Get your trap setup by following these four simple steps:

  1. Add Bait - Apply a small amount of high-protein bait, such as peanut butter, to the back wall of the trap away from the metal plates using a Q-tip or other tool to avoid transferring your scent.
  2. Insert Batteries - Remove the battery cover. Insert 4 “AA” batteries into the battery compartment before replacing the cover.
  3. Place the Trap - Place the trap on a flat surface against a wall where you have seen signs of rodent activity. The trap should be placed lengthwise with the entrance nearest to the wall.
  4. Turn On - Activate by flipping the switch to the “ON” position. A green light will blink once to indicate the trap is functioning properly.

This product is very surprising ...

This product is very surprising in that it has caught some really big rats, so big that the whole tail is visible outside the entrance, and still worked for many more catches before needing batteries. For me, it is very handy that takes AA batteries because I use rechargeable batteries many times keeping a backup supply charging for changes. I originally had the silver unit with the light-up mouse plugin( fun to see them light up) but the C batteries did not seem to last. The 4 stars are because cleaning is a problem I have not found a good way to do that without damaging the unit.

Used to work great. Not so much anymore. These things cost way too much to malfunction.

I have purchased several of these traps over the years and mostly used them with great results. However the last two purchases (three traps at a time) I have made the traps have been mostly defective with the bait gone and the trap not blinking. My most recent purchase was to replace the defective ones I received on my the order before. Unfortunately I got more of the same.

Again, a few good catches, then no longer-this was a replacement for same issue? Do, very much, appreciate the generous customer service with the replacement. Have had many of these zappers over the years, and figured wore them out after MANY catches. May up the game regarding model we use?

Old model was better

Old model with the red blinking light was significantly better - new model only blinks green intermittently upon kill (12-15 seconds). It seems to be another case of cutting cost. Sometimes it doesn't''t blink at all....

It didn't kill instantly and the rat bit the wire and died. Now it's stuck in there

I've had two for a few years stopped using them now I just broke them out and baited them. Rats were stealing the bag without getting shocked. This morning the alarm was blinking and there was a tail hanging out the back. I tried to shake it out and it wouldn't come out. I didn't want to look in there so I got some pliers and tried pulling on the tail I pulled a few times and pretty hard and then the tail came off with a long thread of insides! Gross! Looked inside and the rat had bit the wire! Evidently it did not kill him instantly so after he ate the bait he went for the wire. I can't deal with it I have to throw the whole thing away. The other one was set off and are still empty. ;-(

A great concept in a very poorly designed product. Save your money.

On my third one of these now and won't be buying another one. They work great until they need cleaning. Cleaning is almost impossible leaving the unit with continual short circuits rendering the unit useless. And, yes, I've followed the recommended cleaning methods, brushes, alcohol, soaking etc. The retailer I purchased this last one from in fact no longer carries this product for the exact same reason. It's a return to the old reliable snap traps for me.

My wife purchased this item for our chicken coop as the rats were coming in and eating the food....this was extremely easy to set up.. batteries in.. cover on... use long shishkabob skwer to put peanut butter at back of trap and turn on Caught 2 rats the first week it was set up and thought " this things great" AND IT HASNT WORKED SINCE!! I tried cleaning w isopropol alcohol.. wiping off all the interior surfaces...looking with inspection mirror to see if anything was grounding the centre plate... and the critters run in and out like it's a buffet OF COURSE warranty has expired now....and it wont even turn on now... 14 days after warranty expired Save your $$$... these traps are a prime example of "planned obsolescence"
