This device is ridiculously good. I have an office in New York City some of the rats eat through the bottom of the door to get the garbage. The Zapper kills them with ease. No blood, no mess. And i just keep reusing it. This device is a beast

Trap worked exactly once. Changing the batteries did not help. Defective unit; please advise.

The best invention in the 21st Century !!! Our business has been "vandalized" by a rat for 3 months now. She comes in the middle of the night, eats our donuts, cookies, and recently she has been eating electric wires from our desk lamps at our office. We tried everything, including glued boards from the supermarket, the rat was so smart that she pushed them away or built a road of pieces of paper in order to cross over those glued boards. The old fashion traps didn't work either, she pushed them away. A trap made of aluminum we purchased at the hardware store, didn't work, apparently she was too big and the doors didn't close completely. We were desperate. We found this Victor Rat Zapper at our local Atwood store. Price didn't matter now. We installed it as instructed. Since she loved cookies, we decided to use cookies as bait. Today we found our rat dead inside this trap. Excellent job !!

I have three that I have had for at least three years. I use a soda or water bottle lid to place the peanut butter in and slide it to the back corner opposite of the wire. I also use a small steel brush to clean after use if it gets dirty, not always easy but effective. They work great. I have got rats so big they are hard to get out of the trap. They still work great. I have to change the batteries after about three kills. I use high drain double A. I would recommend these for anyone with rodent problems.

This Rat Zapper works for a few times until the metal plate at the very back of the trap becomes gross from the food bate and dead rodent debris. The plate is inside at the very back of the trap and it is impossible to reach to clean it. If the back end of the trap were removable, it would be possible to clean the buildup off the metal plate and continue to attract rodents. We bought two Rat Zappers hoping to catch many rodents and keep using it before we found this out and would not buy them again.

I’m a long time buyer of Victor rat zappers. And generally a fan. I recently bought 8 new ones from a local hardware store. After about 8 kills on four units, only two remained working. This is unacceptable, hasn’t even been two months.

Bought this for a rat problem getting into my truck engine and chewing on wires. The day I got my truck back from repairs, I caught the 1st and only rat. The light doesn't come on and you don't hear it on either. Expensive to catch one rat! Now my wife's car has been attacked 3 times. Going into the shop for the 3rd time this week.

This works well if you have the right bait. Victor Pest recommends peanut butter -- not only is it messy, but the mice where I live/lived (Northern VA and NE OH) don't go for it. In Northern VA, the mice always went for dog kibble. In NE OH, the mice didn't like dog kibble but loved whole peanuts. You may have to experiment to learn what the mice in your area like. Steer clear of messy bait like peanut butter. I only give the Rat Zapper 4 stars because it is hard to clean and I consider that a design flaw. Victor should find some way of allowing you to easily access the rear of the Zapper for cleaning purposes.

Poor. Discharges without a rat in there. Drains batteries and makes this useless. I ordered one of these years ago, it worked well.. For a while. I ordered 2 about a year ago just in case. Once I tried them, I realised about 39 seconds agmfter the batteries are added, the unit discharges like there is something in the trap. I tried cleaning them out and making sure there wasn't dust or anything in the way, but the problem persisted. Yesterday, I ordered another (along with traps from other companies) hoping the previous faulty traps were just a bad batch or were damaged in delivery, but the new trap is exactly the same. There are clear design and manufacturing flaws that Victor doesn't care to change. This problem is persistent on many message boards. The best advice I found on these message boards was to disassemble the devices and put them back together with tools that most of us don't have.

My building has had an infestation since lockdown. I've yet to fill all the access points, so in the meantime I'm zapping the invading rats. Since my husband died in May, it's all on me. My brother-in-law charges too much. I love that I can get rid of the bodies without having to look at them. I do not reuse the traps for that reason and have spent about $800 of my fixed income to date, but it's worth it. Just a bit of peanut butter, place the trap by their favorite spot, and in no time they're caught. Love that the light flashes to let me know I got one. I then use my grabber, quickly put it all in a trash bag barely looking, take it down the hall, and throw it all down the chute. Can't recommend this enough. I buy the three-pack. The fact that I get points with every purchase is an added bonus.
