Victor® Easy Set® Rat Trap - A New Twist on a Classic Design
Simplify rodent control with the Victor® Easy Set® Rat Trap. Using the original wooden snap trap design with an improved larger trip pedal to ensure higher catch rates, this trap will help you to effectively eliminate rodents around your household or business. Two settings, Firm and Sensitive, allow you to control the sensitivity of the trap. In addition, these traps require no chemicals or poisons. For best results, rat traps should be placed where rodents travel, such as along walls at 2-3 ft intervals.
Expanded Trigger Plate
The Easy Set® Rat Trap enhances the classic snap trap design by adding a large plastic trigger plate to ensure higher catch rates. The expanded size means it can be easily activated both by rodent interest in food and through accidental contact as rats scamper across the floor.
Quick & Effective
Once a rodent triggers the pedal, the Easy Set® Rat Trap immediately springs closed to eliminate the pest on contact. After a catch, simply throw away the entire trap for quick and clean removal or dispose of the rat and reuse the trap.
Easy 4-Step Setup
For your convenience, the Victor® Easy Set® Rat Trap is very easy to use. Get your trap setup by following these four simple steps:
Release the Arm Bar - Remove the staple and hang the arm over the back of the trap.
Bait the Trap - While the trap is pre-baited with a scent, apply bait on the plastic pedal for best results. Use a high-protein bait such as peanut butter or hazelnut spread.
Set the Trap - Pull back the kill bar and hold it securely with your thumb. Place the arm bar over the kill bar and secure it under the plastic pedal. Take note of the Firm and Sensitive setting. The trap will be easier to set on the firm side, but not trip as easy. The trap will be more difficult to set on the sensitive side, but trip very easily.
Place the Trap - Locate an area with high rodent activity or place the trap along the wall. The trap should be perpendicular to the wall with the yellow trigger plate flush against the baseboard.
Environmentally Responsible Materials
Not only will the Victor® Easy Set® Rat Trap help you eliminate your rodent problem, you can feel satisfied in knowing that it is sourced from environmentally responsible materials. It is constructed of Forest Stewardship Council® certified wood.

The set bar does not reach the pedal. Instructions too vague. No mention why there are the letters/symbols F and S on the bait pedal. No way the set bar slips under the pedal, it simply does not reach and no place to put it.

Out of all the rat ...

Out of all the rat traps I have been using from the glue to poison this one type this product is not only very user friendly but also reusable and a lot more humane then the glue traps and for what it cost Wich is a few bucks it paid for itself 10x.
I highly recommend this … my only problem is….. I should have done this a lot sooner!!!
Thank you ????
Bought some of these locally and they are completely inferior to the older traps in terms of setting them.
Arming the is a pain as the large paddle is plastic and the arming lever slips out at the slightest touch... We caught a leaf in one.. Rain set off another... Heck, even arming in a vertical orientation as reccommend just causes the traps to go off when laid horizontal again, so watch your thumbs.
I chose Victor traps over another brand, despite their price, ($6.99 +tx CAD each) but if I had my time back, I'd get a cheaper brand with a more reliable trigger.
We're sorry to hear about this experience! Sometimes, these traps can be tricky to set. A good trick to remember is to try holding the trap vertically and make sure the yellow pedal is at about a 20 or 30 degree angle from the base, then set the trap by hooking the metal bar under the lip of the yellow pedal. Please give us a call at 855-584-2867 for more tips and assistance.
These traps are DANGEROUS! I tried to set 2 of them and neither would set. It was impossible to get the arm bar to stay in the groove on the plastic bait paddle (in either sensitive or firm mode), even after reading the instructions on this site and watching the video. On my last try, I managed to catch the side of my finger under the kill bar (this bruise is going to last a while). I'm fortunate i didn't break my finger! They are in the garbage now.
Do not buy this trap. You may hurt yourself.

I have tried two, both ...

I have tried two, both bought new. Both failed when trying to set them. The pressure on the mechanism when trying to set them caused the center pivot area come loose. In one case the staple holding it in place cam out. In the other case the center bar worked out of the staple holding it. I give up , be wary in buying these.

I set three traps in the shed of house I plan to rent out. This Easy Set trap is a consistent dispatcher, 3 to 0 compared to the old style metal bait holder.
I'm so sorry to hear this Frank! This trap has a 30 day return policy or we would be happy to send a replacement. Please give us a call so we can assist further. - Susan

Purchased two of these traps. Both defective.
First time I tried to set them they broke.
When I pulled back the kill bar the wire staple holding the base of the kill bar pulled out of the block of wood.
Product is hazardous.

Arm Bar is TOO short to reach plastic pedal

Jan 7, 2022
I purchased Victor Rat Trap #M205 from local Ace Hardware. The Arm Bar is TOO short to reach the plastic pedal (I know how these work and how to set them). I will return it.
Oh no, we are sorry to hear about this experience! We appreciate you taking the time to share this feedback with us and will be sure to pass along these comments to the Product Manager for further review. We are only ever looking to improve upon our traps, which is why your feedback is so critical.

These are the two settings of the trap indicating "Firm" and "Sensitive". The trap will be easier to set on the firm side, but not trip as easy. The trap will be more difficult to set on the sensitive side and trip very easy

What's the best rat bait?
Question by: KW on Jul 21, 2023, 11:36 AM
We recommend a small, pea-sized amount peanut butter for baiting our traps.
