Victor® Easy Set® Rat Trap - A New Twist on a Classic Design
Simplify rodent control with the Victor® Easy Set® Rat Trap. Using the original wooden snap trap design with an improved larger trip pedal to ensure higher catch rates, this trap will help you to effectively eliminate rodents around your household or business. Two settings, Firm and Sensitive, allow you to control the sensitivity of the trap. In addition, these traps require no chemicals or poisons. For best results, rat traps should be placed where rodents travel, such as along walls at 2-3 ft intervals.
Expanded Trigger Plate
The Easy Set® Rat Trap enhances the classic snap trap design by adding a large plastic trigger plate to ensure higher catch rates. The expanded size means it can be easily activated both by rodent interest in food and through accidental contact as rats scamper across the floor.
Quick & Effective
Once a rodent triggers the pedal, the Easy Set® Rat Trap immediately springs closed to eliminate the pest on contact. After a catch, simply throw away the entire trap for quick and clean removal or dispose of the rat and reuse the trap.
Easy 4-Step Setup
For your convenience, the Victor® Easy Set® Rat Trap is very easy to use. Get your trap set up by following these four simple steps:
- Release the Arm Bar - Remove the staple and hang the arm over the back of the trap.
- Bait the Trap - While the trap is pre-baited with a scent, apply bait on the plastic pedal for best results. Use a high-protein bait such as peanut butter or hazelnut spread.
- Set the Trap - Pull back the kill bar and hold it securely with your thumb. Place the arm bar over the kill bar and secure it under the plastic pedal. Take note of the Firm and Sensitive setting. The trap will be easier to set on the firm side, but not trip as easy. The trap will be more difficult to set on the sensitive side, but trip very easily.
- Place the Trap - Locate an area with high rodent activity or place the trap along the wall. The trap should be perpendicular to the wall with the yellow trigger plate flush against the baseboard.

WARNING! This is NOT like the original.

The "kill bar" is too short to engage beneath the yellow plastic bait pedal/trigger. The only way to get the kill bar beneath the plastic bait pedal is to lift the pedal, causing it to rotate back towards the end of the "kill bar," thus PUTTING ONE"S FINGERS IN THE LINE OF FIRE!!! The old, original design was far safer to arm. The plastic to metal trigger is a very bad joke...sadistic in fact. As I write this, my left index finger sports a nice purple bruise because of this very STUPID modification to what was, before then, a timeless and effective design.
PS: Don't give me the canned response of how to effectively arm the trap. The product is a class action liability lawsuit waiting to happen. Pull it off the market.

Victor rat traps was my go to. It was reliable and effective. Unfortunately the newer plastic style latch is such a pain in the a** and a pain on my thumbs! They do NOT latch no matter how calm and careful you are! Nope, the "Firm" setting doesn't work either. I will be returning this product, purchased 8 of these and not one of them worked. Terrible product. Bring back the old ones. Those mfs worked just fine.

For easier setup, place the trap on a flat, stable surface and make sure the bait pedal and latch are free of debris. When setting the trap, press the pedal down firmly while slowly pulling the kill bar back until it engages with the latch. Waste of money and will actively injure you more times than rats. The manufacturing of this product, specifically the yellow pedal, is defective in creating a lip that the trigger bar can actually rest under. It's honestly pretty simple. All they had to do was design the lip at a better angle so it doesn't slip off. Instead, despite trying over and over on the "Firm" setting, most traps I tried would snap back onto my finger while lowering the pedal because the trigger would slip off. I will be telling everyone I know to never buy anything from Victor because they sell faulty equipment that injures their consumers.

I constantly fight with these rats and ive always relied on this trap to get the job done. The new design with the plastic is honestly kind of terrible. It's nearly impossible to even set the trap anymore because the metal arm bar just slips right out of the plastic slot for it. It's a real let down considering I could always trust these traps, and that I just wasted money on a product that doesnt work anymore. Like there's no way to even salvage or make it work, just a waste of money while I have to find new options. PLEASE bring back the old design. I love the wider surface area making it easier for pests to trigger, but the metal on plastic is just not reliable. Latching metal on metal like before is a lot less flimsy. Really hope yall change something

Incredibly unsafe to set.

Incredibly unsafe to set. These traps take an incredible amount of time to set and often have to be bent or manipulated to avoid triggering from the tension, which ultimately has affected my ability to capture rats. The firm and sensitive options are absolute garbage and false. I honestly don't think anyone making decisions at Victor is even in touch with the reality of their final products anymore.

These are garbage. The old metal pedal traps were excellent--I used them to trap a dozen rats in my crawlspace. I bought ten of these plastic pedal ones and ended up having to throw most in the trash because they wouldn't even set properly.

1 out of 9 traps in my box of Victor Rat Traps set properly. The new plastic mount doesn’t work and the arm is too short to catch. My grandpa and dad always used this trusted brand…what happened? Before you think it’s user error, my boyfriend and I used to set these regularly. We both could not get 8 out of 9 to set. I contacted customer service, but I just wanted to add to the 1 star reviews and maybe save someone else the hassle and waste of time purchasing these useless traps.

Completely pathetic! This used to be the very best, most fail proof design available. Ever since Victor switched to this ridiculous plastic bait pedal, the trap is completely ineffective. Attaching images of a flattened bait petal, 100% licked off bait, and the kill bar still engaged. Go back to the former design!

Garbage. I bought three and only one will hold trigger bar. The plastic pedal was a pretty stupid idea. What a waste of money. I wish I hadn’t opened all three before I tried one. Maybe I could have gotten my money back. Lesson learned. Crap product.

Q&A
Can you still get the traps with the copper triggers? I have tried the new and there has been a very low success rate for the new pedal trigger. Please go back to the older type, even if it cost more the success rate will make up for it. Maybe give the customer a choice.

Your rat traps with the yellow bait holder suck. Half the time I set it, it goes off before I can set it down. Do you ever actually test a design before it goes out? The old copper model worked flawlessly for generations.

You had a good thing going. You were the best of the best. The old traps with the smaller copper bait pedal/paddle had close to 100% success rate (for me). Then you decided to go cheap and/or change your design to the large yellow plastic paddle. WTF. The new design sucks....really bad. Under 25% success rate. It triggered, but no rat or the rat got away. Yellow plastic pedal is too damn big and the rat just doesn't get far enough onto the platform. Please, please, please, change your design back to the smaller metal/copper bait trigger pedal. It was what made your company great. Why fix/redesign something that wasn't broken in the first place. You made your product WORST and are forcing your loyal customers to look at other brands of rat/mouse traps.

Setting the trap to "Firm" will make it easier to set, but it won't trip as easily. Conversely, setting it to "Sensitive" will make it more difficult to set but more likely to trigger.

Does Victor make rat traps with the metal bait pedal anymore? I have found that the rat traps with the large yellow pedal are too sensitive and continually snap before I can even set them in place. I have tried to use both the sensitive and not sensitive settings based on which side of the pedal you put the trigger on. The pedal will still drop down as the trap is being set flat and snap. I thought the metal pedal version worked much better, didn't have issues with it snapping shut when setting down. Thanks, Zak

They say you can’t build a better mouse trap. Well Victor has actually made a worse trap. The F& S settings are silly. The copper setting allowed you to raise the point to put a larger piece of bait. These break and then you have to toss them away. A waste of money.
