Victor® Easy Set® Rat Trap - A New Twist on a Classic Design

Simplify rodent control with the Victor® Easy Set® Rat Trap. Using the original wooden snap trap design with an improved larger trip pedal to ensure higher catch rates, this trap will help you to effectively eliminate rodents around your household or business. Two settings, Firm and Sensitive, allow you to control the sensitivity of the trap. In addition, these traps require no chemicals or poisons. For best results, rat traps should be placed where rodents travel, such as along walls at 2-3 ft intervals.

Expanded Trigger Rod

Expanded Trigger Plate

The Easy Set® Rat Trap enhances the classic snap trap design by adding a large plastic trigger plate to ensure higher catch rates. The expanded size means it can be easily activated both by rodent interest in food and through accidental contact as rats scamper across the floor.

Quick & Effective

Once a rodent triggers the pedal, the Easy Set® Rat Trap immediately springs closed to eliminate the pest on contact. After a catch, simply throw away the entire trap for quick and clean removal or dispose of the rat and reuse the trap.

Easy 4 step setup

Easy 4-Step Setup

For your convenience, the Victor® Easy Set® Rat Trap is very easy to use. Get your trap set up by following these four simple steps:

  1. Release the Arm Bar - Remove the staple and hang the arm over the back of the trap.
  2. Bait the Trap - While the trap is pre-baited with a scent, apply bait on the plastic pedal for best results. Use a high-protein bait such as peanut butter or hazelnut spread.
  3. Set the Trap - Pull back the kill bar and hold it securely with your thumb. Place the arm bar over the kill bar and secure it under the plastic pedal. Take note of the Firm and Sensitive setting. The trap will be easier to set on the firm side, but not trip as easy. The trap will be more difficult to set on the sensitive side, but trip very easily.
  4. Place the Trap - Locate an area with high rodent activity or place the trap along the wall. The trap should be perpendicular to the wall with the yellow trigger plate flush against the baseboard.

Environmentally Responsible Materials

Not only will the Victor® Easy Set® Rat Trap help you eliminate your rodent problem, you can feel satisfied in knowing that it is sourced from environmentally responsible materials. It is constructed of Forest Stewardship Council® certified wood.

We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear the Wide Pedal Rat Trap did not meet your expectations. The enlarged yellow pedal is designed to provide a larger activation area and help improve trapping performance by requiring less pressure to trigger. For best results, place the trap along walls where rodent activity is present, with the baited end facing the wall, and use a small amount of peanut butter or another high-protein bait. We value your comments and will share your feedback regarding the pedal design with our product team.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear you were disappointed with the Victor® Wide Pedal Rat Trap. For best results, the trap should be set by pulling the kill bar back and carefully engaging it with the trigger while keeping the trap on a flat, stable surface. Using a small amount of bait placed directly in the bait trough can also help prevent accidental triggering during setup. We appreciate your comments regarding the plastic trigger design, as customer feedback helps us evaluate our products and future improvements.

Victor, you are no longer the trusted brand in rat traps. I have used your product in the past quite successfully. Now they are useless. Quit apologizing for the traps not working and do something about it. You have loyal customers that are leaving.

We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear that the Victor® Wide Pedal Rat Trap did not perform as expected. For the best results, place the trap perpendicular to the wall with the baited end facing the wall, as rats typically travel along edges and walls. Use a small amount of high-protein bait, such as peanut butter, and avoid using too much, as this can allow rodents to remove the bait without triggering the trap. Wearing gloves when handling and setting the trap can also help minimize human scent. Your comments are important to us, and we will share your feedback with our product team for review.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience with the Victor® Wide Pedal Rat Trap. For best results, we recommend applying a small amount of bait, such as peanut butter, directly into the bait cup on the trigger pedal rather than using larger pieces of food like cheese, which can be easier for rodents to remove without activating the trap. Position the trap along a wall with the trigger end facing the wall where rodent activity has been observed. We appreciate your comments regarding the pedal design and will share your feedback with our team.

Cannot set the trap, the bail wire keeps slipping out from under the lip on the pedal. Only thing it caught was my finger.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you had trouble setting the trap and understand how frustrating that can be, especially when you're expecting a quick solution. The trap is designed so that the bail wire securely engages under the lip of the trigger pedal when set properly. If the bail wire repeatedly slips free, it may indicate an issue with the trap or that the trigger is set too sensitively for the conditions. We're also sorry to hear that you caught your finger while attempting to set the trap. We always recommend using caution when handling and setting snap traps. We appreciate you sharing your experience, and your feedback will be passed along to our product team for review as we continue to evaluate and improve our products.

What is wrong with these, I got a 10 pack to solve a problem. Tried to set out 3 and couldn’t get any to set. What a shame thinking it’s easier to order some than go find 3-4 out in my yard. Return tomorrow

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you had difficulty setting the traps and understand how frustrating it is when you're trying to address a rodent problem, and the product doesn't perform as expected. These traps should set easily when the kill bar is pulled back and secured under the trigger mechanism. If none of the traps in the package would stay set, it's possible there may have been an issue with the setup process or with the product itself. We would appreciate the opportunity to learn more about your experience and help troubleshoot the issue. Please contact our customer service team directly, and we'll be happy to assist. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Your feedback is valuable and will be shared with our product team for review.

Look Closely at the Staple

I bought 2 wide pedal rat traps and both had the staple holding the pedal bent and not into the wood. It made the release almost impossible. Look closely at the staple if you purchase these.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Victor® Wide Pedal Rat Traps. The pedal mechanism should be properly secured for normal operation, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. If the trap is difficult to set due to the staple placement, this would not be expected. Please contact us so we can assist further.

It’s inconceivable that they replaced the best rat trap ever made with the metal pedal, with this piece of garbage. You might save 2 cents a trap but everyone has stopped buying them. Great business move.

We’re sorry to hear this version of the Victor® Wide Pedal Rat Trap did not meet your expectations. We appreciate your feedback regarding the design change. For best performance, we recommend placing the trap along walls or in areas with visible rodent activity, with the bait placed securely in the bait cup to encourage proper trigger activation. Your comments are valuable and will be shared with our team.
The metal pedal was quick and effective and much better for the pest and the human.

Its such a shame that Victor only produces this plastic pedal trap. The metal pedal was quick and effective and much better for the pest and the human. I have had these traps half-kill rats as they are slower and go off before the rat is all the way near the center. They also are more likely to go off in your hand while setting.

We’re sorry to hear the Victor® Wide Pedal Rat Trap did not meet your expectations. We appreciate you sharing your experience. For best performance, the trap should be placed along walls where rats commonly travel, with the bait positioned properly in the bait cup so the rat fully engages the trigger. Use caution when setting the trap by keeping fingers clear of the strike area. Your feedback regarding the pedal design has been shared and is appreciated.

Q&A

Can you still get the traps with the copper triggers? I have tried the new and there has been a very low success rate for the new pedal trigger. Please go back to the older type, even if it cost more the success rate will make up for it. Maybe give the customer a choice.
Question by: Earl Trail on Dec 7, 2024, 5:57 PM
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the rat traps with the new pedal trigger.

Unfortunately, the rat traps with the copper pedal trigger have been discontinued and are no longer available. We understand your concerns, and we truly appreciate your input about the lower success rate of the newer model. Your feedback is important to us, and we will certainly look into it to see if improvements can be made.
Answer by: Kimberly Cordon (Admin) on Dec 12, 2024, 4:19 PM
Your rat traps with the yellow bait holder suck. Half the time I set it, it goes off before I can set it down. Do you ever actually test a design before it goes out? The old copper model worked flawlessly for generations.
Question by: Todd Cage on Jul 11, 2025, 8:12 PM
Thank you very much for contacting us.

We’re sorry to hear about the trouble you’ve had with the trap. Please note that the trap includes Firm and Sensitive settings:

Use the Firm setting if you're having trouble setting it—this makes it easier to handle without premature triggering.

The Sensitive setting is designed to trip more easily but can be harder to set.

We truly appreciate your feedback and will be happy to assist you further.
Answer by: Karla (Admin) on Jul 15, 2025, 12:28 PM
You had a good thing going. You were the best of the best. The old traps with the smaller copper bait pedal/paddle had close to 100% success rate (for me). Then you decided to go cheap and/or change your design to the large yellow plastic paddle. WTF. The new design sucks....really bad. Under 25% success rate. It triggered, but no rat or the rat got away. Yellow plastic pedal is too damn big and the rat just doesn't get far enough onto the platform. Please, please, please, change your design back to the smaller metal/copper bait trigger pedal. It was what made your company great. Why fix/redesign something that wasn't broken in the first place. You made your product WORST and are forcing your loyal customers to look at other brands of rat/mouse traps.
Question by: James Folgeri on Jul 27, 2025, 3:38 PM
Thank you for sharing your feedback.

We recommend using a pea-sized amount of bait for best performance. Additionally, please take note of the Firm and Sensitive setting on the traps. Setting the trap to "Firm" will make it easier to set, but it won't trip as easily. Conversely, setting it to "Sensitive" will make it more difficult to set but more likely to trigger.
Answer by: Karla Chavez (Admin) on Jul 28, 2025, 5:29 PM
Does Victor make rat traps with the metal bait pedal anymore? I have found that the rat traps with the large yellow pedal are too sensitive and continually snap before I can even set them in place. I have tried to use both the sensitive and not sensitive settings based on which side of the pedal you put the trigger on. The pedal will still drop down as the trap is being set flat and snap. I thought the metal pedal version worked much better, didn't have issues with it snapping shut when setting down. Thanks, Zak
Question by: Zak on May 5, 2025, 12:32 PM
Thank you for reaching out! The Victor® Metal Pedal Rat Trap (M201) has been officially discontinued and is now obsolete. As a result, this product is no longer available for order or replenishment.
Answer by: Kimberly (Admin) on May 6, 2025, 8:37 AM
They say you can’t build a better mouse trap. Well Victor has actually made a worse trap. The F& S settings are silly. The copper setting allowed you to raise the point to put a larger piece of bait. These break and then you have to toss them away. A waste of money.
Question by: Michael Hill on Oct 14, 2025, 5:01 PM
We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the trap. The F (Firm) and S (Sensitive) settings are designed to give users flexibility depending on the environment and type of bait used. However, we understand that this may not meet everyone’s expectations.
We appreciate your feedback and will be sure to pass it along to our product team.
