Review RateDid not kill rat lounging in trap
Staring into the eyes of a very live rat in my trap. TRAP DID NOT KILL IT. Have tested the device: power lights and Wifi light go on and everything, but no more zap. I knew it was working because it killed a couple of small mice the other day. In case it was the batteries I bought and installed a fresh pair just now. So my guess is that it has blown a fuse. Since there is no access to the innards. I now have a fancy brick. I would like a refund please.Response From Victor®Kristen : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateYet to deliver on claim - jury is still out
No rats yet but a couple of mice. Heed the instructions: "For **indoor** use only". Trap has a number of problems if used outdoors: 1] Raccoons are much stronger than rats and will happily abscond with the entire trap. 2] Raccoons are much more inquisitive than rats, and the bait trap door is child's play for them. 3] Outdoors is messy enough that trap is easily triggered on false alarms. I'm actually looking in the trap right now - there's nothing in it, yet it is in full-on continuous "Zap" mode. A twig for just a bit of leaf might be enough to set it off. 4] So far, despite mice and false alarms, it has yet to send a single notice to my phone.Response From Victor®Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative
Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. We are sorry to hear that curious raccoons were playing with your trap! These traps are recommended for indoor use only. If the trap has not sent any alerts, it could be that it was out of range.

Works fantastic -- I had two other Victor Electronic traps that worked great to but being notified is really great. The only thing I can think of that would be more satisfying is a camera -- put in an SD slot that I could put a card in so the trap can record the vermin getting zapped by 1.21 Gigawatts and being sent back to the future. (kidding on this :-)) These are the best!
Review RateExcellent product
I bought two traps and my kill rate shows 11 rats killed. For some reason, two did not register. I can't believe how well these worked. When you get a notification that a rat has been killed, it is so satisfying. I immediately empty the trap and it is ready to kill again. The rats I have killed so far have been HUGE! I'm not sure I would be able to kill them using a snap trap or a sticky trap. These traps kill quickly and surely. It's nice to know the rat is dead and not just injured or still alive and looking at you right in the eye while it is stuck to a stickly trap. This is so much more humane, more efficient and if you have rodent issues like I do, cost effective.
Review Ratetop of the line
exactly one hour after setup, my phone alert one killed. I spend over $100 on traps, peppermint, stickys...it was never that quick and never guarantee a strike, this is a Dyson on catching rodent, top of the line.
Review RateDay one and done!
Nothing more satisfying than killing the darn rat on my garage who is leaving urine stains and droppings all over the place. Tried bait traps, no luck. Tried conventional rat traps, no luck. Purchased the Victor Wi-Fi Rat trap and Yabba, Dabba, Doo. I got a message on the phone that night that the rat was caught!! Disposed of rat. No further problems.
Review RateThis trap works!
Have used the rat trap for four days. Day 1-2 had no catches, but yesterday caught the first one, early this morning a second one, and this afternoon a third one. At first I just used the bait holder at the end of the trap, but once I started adding granola to the front of the trap I started catching. Had to return the first trap since the WiFi was faulty, but the replacement trap has worked flawlessly . WiFi is a great feature, to know when the trap needs resetting. The rodent is killed quickly, also, so more “humane” than glue strips or poison, and good choice for more squeamish people.
Review RateGreat product worked as it said it would after dealing with four months of rat issues it killed both within 6 hours
For the past 4 weeks we've been dealing with two rats in the basement I've tried everything from your conventional wooden snap traps 2 those useless sticky pads and even as far as building the YouTube famous 20 l bucket rat trap with spinning can needless to say nothing had worked these two rats had destroyed my basement the insulation the carpet and the walls with my patience tested to the max I was on my way to getting an exterminator out to the house to deal with it which would have cost in a rounds 400 something dollars as I went to Home Depot to buy rat poison I saw this machine in the corner I was very skeptical by the price if the thing had worked I can honestly say that I would have had no doubt returning the product if it did not work within 24 to 48 hours I set up the Trap with no problems setting up an account setting up the Wi-Fi and putting in the bait on a side note I believe from reading the reviews about not being able to link it to the Wi-Fi or it had been already linked to another user perhaps it was because mine was fully wrapped in clear wrap from the manufacturer maybe that's something people should take an account but back to the setting up it only took me less than 20 minutes I had put the Trap down in the basement and by the time the household went to sleep around four hours later 10 minutes my phone started beeping and it caught the first rat after using traps for four weeks this thing worked in less than 4 hours I went down to the basement picked it up didn't needs to lift the lid to remove the rat I just open the door walked across the street to the field and shook it out came back in made sure that I reset the device and by this morning I have caught the second rat this thing worked flawless much cheaper than an exterminator and no doubt in my mind that I would recommend it over anything and any kind of trap available from the stores or homemade or whatever you got on a side note I would very much like to know what the voltage rating is that killed the rat as I'm sure this might offend some people out there but dealing with these things for a month you get very frustrated and it put a huge smile on my face when I thought of the last seconds of the rat's life before it got electrocuted that's just my opinion that's just me saying. Thank you very much 4 designing this trap it made it very easy compared to everything else I did and very convenient you guys are the best I have read a few reviews and I do agree with others that you guys would seriously capitalize on this device as well as if you made an outdoor version if it would be possible thank you very much again highly recommend this product much cheaper then an exterminator
Victor® Smart-Kill™ Electronic Rat Trap - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: HOW DO I CONNECT THE TRAP TO MY WI-FI?
A: Go to Wi-Fi settings on your mobile device. Select the trap, which is VICTOR following by 15 alphanumeric digits. Press “CONNECT”, then press the back button. Select the Wi-Fi network to connect the trap to. Enter the network password for the Wi-Fi network, then press the red “CONNECT” button. It may take up to 1 minute to connect. A notification appears when the trap successfully connects.
Q: HOW DO I BAIT THE TRAP?
- Be sure that the trap is powered OFF and batteries are removed before baiting the trap.
- Rodents prefer foods that are high in protein and fat. Try using peanut butter, hazelnut spread, chocolate and meats such as bacon or beef jerky. Be careful not to use too much. Rodents have a very strong sense of smell, so only a small amount of bait is needed to attract them to the trap.
- Open the bait door, which can be found on the back side of the trap.
- Use a cotton swab, toothpick, tweezers or similar tool to place bait so that your scent is not transferred to the trap.
Q: WHERE SHOULD I PLACE THE TRAP?
A: Place the trap on a flat surface against a wall where you have seen signs of rodent activity. The trap should be placed lengthwise with the rodent entrance nearest to the wall.
Q: CAN THE TRAP BE USED OUTDOORS?
A: No, an electronic trap cannot be used outdoors. It uses batteries and electronic components that cannot be exposed to the elements. Placing it outdoors will interfere with the functionality of the trap, causing it not to work.
Q: HOW DO I EMPTY THE TRAP?
- Press the power button to turn the unit OFF.
- Remove the batteries.
- Properly discard rodent. Clean and bait the trap after each use for most effective results.
- Insert batteries and press the power button to turn the unit back on. The trap will automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi.
Q: HOW DO I CLEAN THE TRAP?
- Press the power button to turn the trap OFF, then remove the batteries. Open the trap by holding the base of the trap with your left hand and sliding the top backwards with your right hand about one inch. Pull the top away from the base.
- The kill chamber is now ready for cleaning. Use a hydrogen peroxide topical solution (available at most drug stores) and an old toothbrush to clean the inside of the chamber. Use a wire brush as needed to remove any corrosion, being careful not to be too vigorous. This could accidentally remove all of the protective zinc plating.
- Thoroughly dry the interior and exterior of the kill chamber prior to trap reassembly.
- To reassemble trap, hold the base of the trap with your left hand and slide the top into place by pushing forward with your right hand to reconnect the pieces. The trap is ready for use.
Q: WHAT TYPE OF BATTERIES DOES THE TRAP USE?
A: The trap requires 4 “C” batteries. Be sure to use new, fully charged batteries for best results.
Q: WHAT DO THE APP NOTIFICATIONS MEAN?
A: Please visit our support section for more information on app notifications.Learn More »
