I thought this would be a great trap. Nope. The rats eat the bait and a never snap the trap. 1 star.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Victor® Power-Kill™ Rat Trap. We’re sorry to hear it didn’t work as expected. This trap is designed to activate when pressure is applied to the pedal, so placing bait firmly on the bait cup and using a small amount can help ensure proper trigger engagement. Positioning the trap along walls where rats travel can also improve results.

This is a fantastic piece of kit I bought one started catching rats straight away so I bought another one rat was quite big I think it has moved the panel as the pad is not as sensitive but still works. I have caught 5 rats in 2 weeks. Well done for such an effective trap that actually works.

Very disappointed in the short effective lifespan of the , "Power Kill" traps. Worked well for a very short time but had numerous instances where the bait is gone but the trap didn't trigger. Out of the pack of 2 that I bought, one now won't even lock in the 'loaded' position.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Victor® Power-Kill™ Rat Trap. The trap should lock securely in the set position and trigger as soon as the bait pedal is disturbed, so missed activations or difficulty latching may indicate a misaligned or defective unit. Please contact our Consumer Care Team at 1-855-584-2867 so we can assist further under our product guarantee. We’re available Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 7 PM EST.
Redesigned model stops working after a few uses

I found that the gray colored trap was redesigned - even the pictures on the website show the old model (without the jagged looking teeth around the based and a shorter spring) and the new model with the "teeth" and longer spring. The old model still works while the redesign one stops working after a few uses. There is no debris in the way and it seems the higher tension spring can't be kept back by whatever plastic sets the trap. Not sure what the problem is and there are no help videos anywhere on how to fix it. Even if the trap is set, it can slip and snap after a few minutes. I called customer service and they said there is a 1 year warranty though the box makes no mention of it and it says on the bottom of the box "Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back." Not at all true. I told the customer service person that this is poor redesign and defective, but she kept reciting the "customer service" script that I had to find my receipts to prove date of purchase was within 1 year. I won't be buying these again. The previous model worked great and trapped chipmunks and even a few nosey birds. The simple wooden snaps are great, but doesn't catch the bigger varmints.

I got 1 out of 6 plastic pedal rat traps to set. On Victor’s own operations page it suggests getting pliers to adjust to trip bar. What? I need to fix the rat trap in order to use it? Get your shit together Victor and bring the metal bait holder back. Will never buy again.

Two times now I have bought the Victor rat trap, the model with the plastic trip paddle, and it has failed miserably. I don’t mean that it hasn’t caught rats, but that it has fallen apart. The staples come out of the main pivot arm with the springs attached and other times the plastic paddle does not stay attached. I wish they could bring back the old metal paddle, which has never failed even though I have some that are more than 25 years old. I wish that Victor would take this feedback to heart and come back with the old style metal, which work just fine. I can’t see that this is an improvement nor a cost reduction. I won’t be buying their products in the future if I can avoid it.

I am very disappointed in the way they work compared to the traditional wood traps that Victor makes. Most of the time I see the trigger pad in the depressed/downward slant without ever tripping the trap to kill whatever stepped on it. This has been going on ever since I bought these traps and I rarely catch anything. I wanted to upload a mp4 video showing me pressing on the trigger pad and not causing the kill bar to trigger, but it does not allow me to upload that file type.

Hi i bought 8 rat snap traps from my homedepot , I would recommend this product to family ,friends, neighbors and strangers. I have the proof to prove the following: 1 - the snap traps are safe ,easy to use, quick to unload deseaed rat and reload bait . 2- will not make a loud snap'n sound( near the ears) 3 - this specific trap is " work horse" "it keeps Snapp 'n " i have proof ..

Stopped working after I caught 2 rats. Have problems resetting it and the trigger won't activate the trap anymore. Even pressing the trigger with a stick would not activate it. Going back to the good old finger catching wooden traps.
