The wide mousetrap does not work like its smaller brethren and will cause harm to the person setting the trap. I do not recommend this for anyone. It does not matter if it is supposed to be super sensitive; if the user cannot set it then there is no way to catch the rodent invading your home.

difficult to set trigger, it snaps back to fast and is hard to control.

The trigger mechanism is designed to be highly sensitive, so it activates quickly and humanely, but we understand that this can also make it feel difficult to control when setting it.
A quick tip that may help: try placing the trap on a flat surface and holding the base firmly while slowly pulling the bar back into position. Keeping steady pressure on the base can give you better control and prevent it from snapping back unexpectedly.

I’ve used the original version my whole life and it works great. These wide plastic ones are impossible to set and only injure you. They should be recalled. I want a refund.

I have used over 100 of the wide pedal mouse traps with great results-- but i had ordered from amazon another 2 packs of 12 traps-- opened and used the 1 st pack of 12--easy to set and all caught mice-- opened second pack and there is no way to set the paddle with it snapping immediately --completely unable to set these traps even had a neighbor try.. they spring shut at the air moving..
i have no idea how to fix them to be useable -- and have had them since Nov of 2024 so returning them to amazon is past due date for return.. i need to order more than these 12 but now afraid to order anymore

Completely and utterly unusable trash. I have successfully used mouse traps like this for 30+ years but these are worthless. Number one the base is super slick which makes applying bait nearly impossible. Number two these are so cheaply made that Temu would be embarrassed to sell them - the arm will not stay on the base because the engineered angle is literally not correct and because again the plastic is so slick that the device will not stay armed. Do not patronize me with a scripted corporate pouty face. FIX YOUR PRODUCT.

Spread peanut butter all over the yellow plate and the only thing left was in one of the holes and no mouse. It did not activate.

Using a very small amount of bait placed in the bait cup (not spread across the pedal) can help ensure the trap activates properly when the mouse steps on it. Positioning the trap flush against a wall, with the pedal closest to the wall, can also improve results.

I got 4 of these at target today, not realizing the design was different than the normal metal catch type. They're way too sensitive and hard to set, having to hold the plastic petal while setting also makes these dangerous compared to the classic type that can be set entirely from the safe end. The extra sensitivity might come in handy at mouse trapping time though, we shall see.

Your new mousetrap design, is really bad

Your new mousetrap design, in one world sucks.
Pros: more fashionable design and the receptacle for batteries is more accesible
Cons: the new area to set the bait (we all know the best is peanut butter) now is not detachable, so it cannot be cleaned with water, the old version allowed to detach and wash rest of the peanut butter.
Further more the carcase that is the maze trap is not de detachable either so when the mouse die and pee as a natural effect of the death is not cleanable either.
In summary your new design is looking only for a less durability and is at least 30% more expensive. Old versions I could have used a decent amount of times. I will be lucky if I can use this new version 2 or 3 times without getting unusable.
