Helpfulness
Garbage.

Garbage. I set them out, checked in the morning. Peanut butter all gobbled up, mice droppings all around, not a single trap sprung. Pure garbage.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap. If bait is being taken without triggering the trap, using a very small amount of sticky bait and placing the trap on a flat, stable surface can help ensure proper activation. Aligning the metal bar carefully under the catch can also improve sensitivity for a more reliable trigger.

The pedal requires excessive pressure to trigger.
Mice are attracted to certain foods, not something that resembles cheese to humans.
A mouse actually removed the bait and took it elsewhere, without setting off my trap.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Victor® Metal Pedal Mouse Trap. For best results, use a small amount of high-aroma bait like peanut butter or chocolate and place it firmly in the bait cup so the mouse has to put weight on the pedal to reach it. Setting the trap on a flat, stable surface and placing it along a wall where mice naturally travel can also help ensure the pedal triggers properly.
The old design worked great.

The old design worked great. This new design does not. It's hard to set, triggers prematurely, or doesn't trigger at all. I do not recommend it.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap. The trap should set securely and trigger properly when the bar and pedal are aligned on a flat, stable surface. Using a very small amount of bait and ensuring the metal bar is fully seated under the catch can also help with consistent performance.

absolute junk, assembled incorrectly, making it impossible for the homeowner to set the trap.
One would have to remove the trigger lever and reassemble to make it functional.
There must be no quality control at the factory.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap. The trigger mechanism should arrive properly aligned and ready to use, so receiving a trap that can’t be set may indicate a manufacturing defect. Horrible awful design invented to look better and nothing else, total dud and waste of money .. feel cheated
Rod will not stay secured in bait paddle, causing immediate activation of trap..totally defeating its purpose
Old orginal style , where rod can secure onto bait trigger was way better

We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap. The rod should stay securely latched on the pedal when the trap is properly aligned. If the bar slips off immediately, the trigger mechanism may be misaligned or defective. Using a very small amount of bait and ensuring the trap is on a flat, stable surface can also help it set more easily.

Do not like the new design of the wide plastic piece. It is very hard to set the trap. It snaps on itself very easily.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap. To make setting easier, hold the kill bar firmly, use a very small amount of bait, and hook the metal bar carefully under the catch while keeping the trap on a flat, stable surface. Ensuring the pedal and bar are properly aligned can also help prevent it from snapping prematurely.
Don't properly set up

Got a 12-pack, so far have only been able to get one to work. I've never had so much trouble with setting a simple mouse trap. I've snapped my fingers so many times and have only successfully gotten peanut butter all over my kitchen.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap. To set the trap more easily, hold the kill bar securely, place a small amount of bait on the pedal, and carefully hook the metal bar under the catch until it locks in place. Setting the trap on a flat, stable surface and using a sticky bait such as peanut butter can also help improve results.
They all worked for me.

Out of a box of twelve of these things, I only had one that I had to tap the set bar closer to the plastic. Otherwise I’ve already caught two mice and reset those traps for a second go. I can see how the manufacturing of these things might make some batches impossible to set, as you only have a millimeter of tolerance for the bar to catch the plastic. But it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to tap the staple with a hammer. Not bad if it’s just one or two, however I can see that being impractical if you need to buy them by the dozens. Works great for me in my basement. (I used to use their electric ones, but the basement humidity destroyed those in less than a year. Those are better for upstairs if you don’t want pets getting their noses snapped.). That’s my two cents.
Traps won't set.

Traps won't set. I've used in the past but the ones I've bought lately are flawed. At least half of them won't set and I keep getting my fingers snapped.

Trap won’t set. The plastic portion is not holding the metal arm in proper position

We’re sorry to hear the Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap wouldn’t stay set. The kill bar should lock under the trigger notch when aligned correctly. Try setting the trap on a flat surface and lower the bar slowly while keeping your fingers clear of the pedal to help it engage securely.
