Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap - A New Twist on a Classic Design
Simplify your rodent control routine with the Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap. Using the original wooden snap trap design with an improved larger trip pedal to ensure higher catch rates, this trap will help you to effectively eliminate rodents around your household or business. Two settings, Firm and Sensitive, allow you to control the sensitivity of the trap. For the best accuracy and outcome, we recommend setting the trap somewhere between these two settings. In addition, these traps require no chemicals or poisons.
Expanded Trigger Plate
The Wide Pedal Mouse Trap enhances the classic snap trap design by adding a large plastic trigger plate to ensure higher catch rates. The expanded size means it can be easily activated both by rodent interest in food and through accidental contact as mice scamper across the floor.
Easy 4-Step Setup
For your convenience, the Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap is very easy to use. Get your trap setup by following these four simple steps:
Release the Arm Bar - Remove the staple and move it so the arm hangs over the back of the trap.
Bait the Trap - Apply bait on the plastic pedal for best results. Use a high-protein bait such as peanut butter or hazelnut spread.
Hold Securely - Pull back the kill bar and hold it securely with your thumb.
Set the Trap - Place the arm bar over the kill bar and secure it under the plastic pedal. Take note of the Firm and Sensitive setting. The trap will be easier to set on the firm side, but not trip as easy. The trap will be more difficult to set on the sensitive side, but trip very easily.
Location, Location, Location
Set the trap in areas where you have noticed high levels of rodent activity. Rodents tend to travel along walls, so placement in this location often works best. For maximum effectiveness, use multiple traps, placed at 2 to 3 foot intervals to increase results. Place the trap with the baited end flush against the wall.
Quick & Effective
Once a rodent triggers the pedal, the Wide Pedal Mouse Trap immediately springs closed to eliminate the pest on contact. After a catch, simply lift the kill bar to dispose of the mouse and reuse the trap or, dispose of the entire trap for quick, clean removal. It’s your decision!

Mouse Trap Instructions
Release the arm bar from the staple.
Move the arm bar to the back of the trap so it hangs over the back of the trap.
Apply a small amount of high-protein bait, such as peanut butter, hazelnut spread or bacon to the yellow plastic pedal on the trap as shown. Use a Q-tip, toothpick or another tool to bait to avoid transferring your scent to the trap.
Pull the kill bar back and hold it in place with your thumb.
Place the arm bar over the kill bar and secure it under the plastic pedal. Take note of the Firm and Sensitive setting. The trap will be easier to set on the firm side, but not trip as easy. The trap will be more difficult to set on the sensitive side, but trip very easily.
Place the trap where you have seen signs of rodent activity or along the wall where rodents primarily travel. The end of the trap where the metal pedal is baited should be placed flush against the wall.
After the mouse is caught, properly dispose of the dead rodent. The trap can either be discarded or reused.
Out of a box of twelve of these things, I only had one that I had to tap the set bar closer to the plastic. Otherwise I’ve already caught two mice and reset those traps for a second go. I can see how the manufacturing of these things might make some batches impossible to set, as you only have a millimeter of tolerance for the bar to catch the plastic. But it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to tap the staple with a hammer. Not bad if it’s just one or two, however I can see that being impractical if you need to buy them by the dozens. Works great for me in my basement. (I used to use their electric ones, but the basement humidity destroyed those in less than a year. Those are better for upstairs if you don’t want pets getting their noses snapped.). That’s my two cents.
Traps won't set. I've used in the past but the ones I've bought lately are flawed. At least half of them won't set and I keep getting my fingers snapped.
We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap. The trap should set easily when the metal bar and trigger are properly aligned. Please contact our Consumer Care Team at 1-855-584-2867 for further assistance.

Trap won’t set.

Trap won’t set. The plastic portion is not holding the metal arm in proper position
We’re sorry to hear the Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap wouldn’t stay set. The kill bar should lock under the trigger notch when aligned correctly. Try setting the trap on a flat surface and lower the bar slowly while keeping your fingers clear of the pedal to help it engage securely. If the issue continues, please contact our Consumer Care Team at 1-855-584-2867, Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM ET, so we can assist further.

These New style traps are Horrible to set

These New style traps are horrible to set, you will snap your finger as I have multiple times and literally took 30 minutes to successfully set. Avoid at all cost until the bring back the older traps that were super user friendly and worked every time! I would find a different brand.
We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the new style traps and appreciate your feedback. Your comments help us as we continue to evaluate and improve our products.

These crappy things won’t even set. One out six and the rest will not catch and set. Would not let me leave ZERO stars
We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap. The traps should lock securely when the kill bar is pressed down and the pedal is engaged. If the traps won’t set, make sure the bar is aligned correctly under the catch and that the surface is level during setup. If you continue having trouble setting them, please contact our Consumer Care Team at 1-855-584-2867, Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM ET, so we can help resolve the issue.

Works once . Then the cheap plastic pan will not hold to reset , I'm use to the better quality with metal trip pan will not recommend or use these again
USELESS!!! The slot in the plastic pedal where the 'set' wire connects is too slippery to hold the wire. Most of the time when I set these the yellow pedal does not stay in place, it just slips off the set wire. Luckily I have not been 'trapped' by the bail wire, yet. Have not caught a single rat with these despite attemping for 2 months. The second problem is that the plastic pedal is TOO SMALL! Rats have large heads and long necks. they can reach the bait without stepping on the pedal. Trap designers, you need to make the pedal as large as the wood base, that is the only way a rat might have to step on it. AND make the notch where the set wire slides into it longer or have a piece of metal on the upper inside area so there is metal to metal contact. Same problems with the smaller mouse traps, but they slip and spring even more often.
It has a "Sensitive" setting and a "Firm" setting. Neither one works. I've had 2 traps licked clean ( Yes, I do use a Bait made of peanut butter, dried fruit, stinky cheese and Bacon grease!) the trap doesn't work. The Old School metal trip lever was superior.
You will get one or two packages that work flawlessly. 1 minute max to set up 2 traps. Then you spend an hour trying to set up the next two packages because no matter how carefully you put it down or let go of the actual trap part they go off. 40-50% of these will end up in the trash because they go off on you 9-10 times before you just toss them
Have been using victor traps for over 30 years. ordered 2cases about a month ago and every trap now needs to have the single trigger bar adjusted or bent a little or the trap cant be set down without triggering it off!!!!!! Every trap!!! please email me when you fix this. John Starai Owner Ace Animal Control model cm035

Hi. I’m using 12 of these in my basement and already caught two mice. I’m resetting them and will be reusing them all winter. How often, if at all, should I scoop out the old peanut butter in the bait cup and replace it with new bait? The bait never gets eaten—the mice are dead before they eat anything. Do the mice care if the bait cup has three-month-old peanut butter in it?
Question by: Mike on Oct 29, 2025, 3:38 PM
We recommend using fresh bait for the best results. Applying a pea-sized amount of peanut butter in the bait cup helps maintain effectiveness and attraction. Even if the previous bait was not eaten, refreshing it periodically ensures optimal performance throughout the season.

How are you supposed to even set these traps. the plastic pedal just slides off the trigger bar no matter what I do. These are a POS!
Question by: George on Jun 22, 2025, 12:54 PM
Hi, thank you so much for your question—we’re so sorry for the inconvenience. Based on the instructions: You should:
*Release the Arm Bar: Remove the staple and move the arm so it hangs over the back of the trap.
* Bait the Trap: While pre-baited, for best results, apply bait (like peanut butter or hazelnut spread) on the plastic pedal.
* Hold Securely: Pull back the kill bar and hold it securely with your thumb.
* Set the Trap: Place the arm bar over the kill bar and secure it under the plastic pedal. Choose between *Firm* (easier to set, less sensitive) or *Sensitive* (harder to set, more sensitive) settings.
