I have had no success with this trap. I have set and reset this trap and the gopher just fills it with dirt. The first time I set this a gopher entered the trap a few minutes after I set it. I heard it in the trap and could see it’s nose at the hole at the end of the trap and it never triggered. I have tried this at multiple holes 4 or 5 times each. After that I gave up and used the old model of the Victor Black Box Gopher Trap and caught the gopher on the first or second try. This new model is a piece of junk. Hey Victor bring back the old model as I will never buy another one of these. You would think that you would have already done that with all the negative reviews for this new one over the last couple of years.

I have not been able to catch anything in this trap after trying for 2 months. I have a couple of the 0625 traps and catch gophers almost every time I set them. The gophers just fill these new ones full of dirt and move on without tripping them. The mechanism is sticky and I usually have to fiddle with it to even get it set. The 0625 traps need to be brought back and these new ones should be dis continued instead. They’re completely useless.
Poor replacement for the 0625 trap

Had a couple 0625 traps that finally broke after years of dependable service. Wanted to replace them but all the hardware store had were these. Thought I'd give one a try but these are no where near as good of a trap as the 0625. Overall much more flimsy, with a fragile trigger mechanism. Please bring back the 0625.

Moles usually plug off the trap, trigger is too far back and you usually catch the mole just in from of the back legs which doesn’t kill them quickly. If you carry the trap unset the trigger mechanism falls out making the trap useless. Also can’t add a picture to the review because it says it’s too big to upload.

I used to trap hundreds of moles per month with 5 of the old style traps but the new style is so unsuccessful that my hay fields are now overrun with mounds to the point it’s damaging the haying equipment. Running 10 new traps I sometimes catch one per day.

I would go negative if I could. The old 0625 trap was 10000000% better than this. The trap gets stuck or doesn’t work. Could you please bring back the old trap?

I have used these gopher traps in the past and been very successful with them. I needed more and found that the traps had a new design. Hesitantly I purchased 2 of them. The trigger seems to be too far back and needs to be pushed quite a bit more than what it should to trip the trap. DO NOT BUY THE 626 model. All you will catch is dirt that the gopher will push into the trap.

I had near 100% success ...

I had near 100% success rate with the old 625 trap. There is no way to "hair trigger" these and the gophers have to push the trigger nearly 1/2 inch to spring the trap I'm now only catching NEW gophers at 25%. Once they get wise (one miss), success is down to near zero percent. Please make the old traps available again... Please!

This model simply does not work, too many moving parts to trigger it. Caught one gopher then afterwards was always plugged up with dirt. I put the 625 model in and catch right away. Go back to 625 model. I modified these to be like 625 and started catching again
