The product photo clearly shows someone putting bait on the metal part, but the instructions say to put the bait in the bait cup in the upper plastic piece instead. No wonder people are having trouble baiting these.

I have two of these and they seem effective at killing deer mice, but refuse to stay open when resetting the trap. When you finally get them to stay open, the slightest bump will trip them, including gently placing them on the floor or even just moving them through the air, which makes for a deeply unpleasant experience. Seems like a fundamental design flaw because both of my traps have the same problem.

These traps are designed to be very sensitive, but proper setup can help reduce accidental triggering. Make sure the trap is placed on a flat, stable surface, press the set bar firmly until it locks, and avoid touching the trigger area when positioning it. Setting the trap directly where it will be used, rather than moving it after setting, can also help.

These do NOT work. I had two of these set by my dog food, as well as two of the traditional wooden snap traps. Both of the Quick-Set traps were triggered and neither had a mouse. One of them had a small clump of hair in it and a small puddle of blood near it, so the mouse clearly didn't instantly die and was able to get out of the trap. The traditional wooden snap trap DID have a mouse in it. Do not waste your money on these Quick-Set traps. Get the old school ones with a proven track record. Zero stars is not an option, or that's what it would get. Disappointed that Victor let this toy trap go to market.

I've been using these for years. The work really well and catch tons of mice!
If you put the peanut butter in the opening behind the trip, the mice can't eat the peanut butter without tripping the trap.
It works!!
This trap was the only trap that was actually catching mice in my house. We had tried everything. Got a couple of these and caught 16 mice in less than two weeks
We are sorry to hear this! If you test the trap (carefully!) with a pencil or something similar, does it trip properly? If it does, try baiting the trap using only a small amount of peanut butter (just what fits on the end of a toothpick). By using a smaller amount, the mice are less likely to be able to quickly grab the bait and run without setting off the trap. With my most recent battle of the mice, I’ve used classic wood Victor snap traps with the plastic bait plate, some easy set Tom Cat traps (do NOT work - need too much pressure to trip the trap), and these traps. These ones are, by far, the best. Easy to set. Minimal pressure required to to trip the trap. Easy to re-bait and re-set. Was away for a few days and returned home to a bunch of cleaned out traps. Set this new one down and within an hour, caught the mouse.

Do you still make the traps that are easy set, reusable. The style that is flat on one side and rounded on other end? The mouse walks in. can't find them in stores this year. New design?

Victor® still makes the Quick-Set™ Mouse Traps that are easy to set and reusable with the classic flat base and rounded end design where the mouse walks in. Those traditional Quick-Set™ traps are still part of the Victor® lineup.
If you’re having trouble finding them in stores this year, it may be due to retailer stock levels or seasonal availability, not because they were discontinued. You can often find them online or ask your local store to check their stock or order them for you.
The product has not been replaced with a completely new design, so the trap with the easy-set, walk-in style is still available, typically if we offer them you can find them in our website, but if it is not being advertised or available in our website, more likely it has been discontinued.
