How should I clean the plastic rat snap trap after catching a rat.
Question by: Kim on Dec 7, 2024, 2:33 PM
Use a hydrogen peroxide topical solution (available at most drug stores) and an old toothbrush to clean the trap. Let the trap thoroughly dry before use. Thank you for your question.

Why don't you make rat poison "sticks" that fit into the round hole in your trap?
I have to take cubed rat trap poison blocks & carve them up to fit into your trap.

What are the dimensions of your power kill mouse traps and power kill rat traps? Please also include the height of the bar when they're set. I'm trying to determine if they'll fit into the space for a trap in my bait stations and if the bar will be able to work properly to catch the rodent.

It would be helpful if you included the dimensions in the Specs on your website. Thank you.

Is the cylindrical red plastic piece that's on the kill bar able to roll? If it does roll, my concern is that if the rodent is not caught squarely and killed by the bar, that rolling movement of the red plastic piece could potentially allow a poorly caught rodent to pull itself out of the trap.

This is the fourth version of the Victor Power Kill Trap I've used. The stronger spring is a plus but the trip plate doesn't activate with small/baby rats. Also this is the first trap that has broken broken where the safety bar engages I've only had it about six month. Older traps are about 5 years old and still work fine.
Question by: rob on Jun 23, 2025, 4:53 PM
Hi, thank you so much for that information—we’re so sorry to hear that the trap broke. Please call us at 855-584-2867.

I bought 2 traps. One was set off but no rat was caught. When I tried to reset the trap it doesn't lock the bar in place and immediately is unset again. How do I fix this.
Question by: Karen on Jul 3, 2025, 8:57 PM
Thank you for contacting us about the issue you're experiencing with your Victor® Power-Kill™ Rat Trap.

We're sorry to hear that one of your traps isn't locking in place when resetting. This issue could be caused by a few things:

Check for Debris: Ensure that there is no debris or dirt around the trap's mechanism, as it may prevent the trigger bar from locking properly.

Reposition the Bar: Gently try to reposition the kill bar and make sure it’s aligned correctly with the locking mechanism.

Inspect for Damage: If the trap has been used several times, check if there is any wear or damage on the trap components that might affect its ability to reset properly.

I have one of these. The last time I used it month ago I barely was able to set it. I tried to use it again today but it won't set. Is there an adjustment somewhere to fix this?
Question by: Robert on Jul 8, 2025, 12:41 AM
Thank you very much for contacting us.

We’re sorry to hear you’re having trouble setting your trap. The Victor® M144 trap is designed to be easy to use with a single-click set and release mechanism. However, if it no longer sets properly, it may be due to:

* Dirt or debris interfering with the mechanism
* Wear and tear after multiple uses
* Internal spring or latch misalignment

There is no manual adjustment to fix the setting mechanism. If cleaning the trap and inspecting it for debris doesn’t help, we recommend replacing it to ensure optimal performance and safety.

It would be our pleasure to assist you further if needed.

Is there a warranty? This thing doesn't work and Home Depot won't take it back.

Any suggestions on how to prevent the rat from stealing the bait and not tripping the trap. Did you ever consider a sensitivity adjustment? Interestingly, I placed a Victor mouse trap in the same area as the rat trap. Result: bait hone from both traps. Rat trap not tripping...mouse trap tripped but no rodent body.

Suggestions welcome. Thanks.
Question by: Dan Neu on Sep 14, 2025, 10:31 PM
Hi, thank you for your question. We recommend applying a pea-sized amount of bait to prevent rats from stealing it without tripping the trap.
Answer by: Victor on Sep 15, 2025, 10:26 AM
do you only make one size ? isn't it best to have a variety in rural setting where rodents vary in size ?
Question by: bill on Sep 17, 2025, 3:54 PM
Thank you very much for contacting us. It would be our pleasure to assist you.

The model M144B features an oversized trip pedal that is easily activated for higher catch rates. It also includes a powerful High-Impact Kill Bar to ensure a quick and humane kill, along with a large bait trough for easy bait placement. We sincerely appreciate your feedback regarding the availability of different sizes for varied rural rodent populations, and we will be sure to share your comments with our team.
