Ok have the wooden snap traps.have mice in garage.traps worked great ,the 1st. Time.now the little b%$#@$ts have figured out how to eat al the bait(peanut butter) without tripping the mechanism. I dont have enough.financial resources to buy something else and start over.i have read al you're advice on this subject,I can find, which isnt alot.dont think any manufacturer wants to admit that there product isnt foolproof. I want traps that kill immediately and are reusable. Finally, my question is,what bait, how much?should I switch it up? I know where they are,but having empty traps is super aggravating. None in the house yet. I might be dealing with pack rats??not field mice.they seem to smart. Do they collect shiny things, but put it away.from actual nest? Ok,sorry, more than one question????

Thank you for reaching out, Regarding your question about baiting and trap setup, I’ll address your concerns and provide some advice that might help increase your success.

Baiting Tips: Use a small amount of peanut butter—just enough to entice but not too much to avoid triggering the trap. Add stronger-smelling foods like unsalted bacon, chocolate, or sunflower seeds. If mice become too familiar with peanut butter, switch to other baits like dried fruit or nuts.

Amount of Bait: Use only a pea-sized amount of bait to avoid making it easy for mice to steal without setting off the trap.

Trap Placement: Place traps along walls or near entry points where mice are most active.

Reusable Traps: Wooden snap traps can be effective if reset with proper baiting. You could also consider a Victor Electronic Mouse Trap for a quick, humane kill.

Pack Rats: If you're dealing with pack rats, they tend to be more cautious and might hoard shiny objects. They are also larger and harder to trap, requiring more patience.

Empty Traps: If traps remain empty, try repositioning them or using multiple traps in high-traffic areas to improve your chances.

what to do when you get a defective trap… the arm bar will not hook to the bait pedal. I have used your traps now for 2 years successfully, and found these worked the best, tonight is the first time the arm would not hold the pedal… after several attempts to set, the bait pedal actually disconnected and slid off the base… so disappointed, last one I had from the 3 two packs I had purchased in Dec….

What is the best way to adjust trap sensitivity on the original Victor Mouse Snap traps with the metal bait bar?
My rascals can clean and polish the bait bar without triping the trap. I just need to tweak the trap to make it a wee bit easier to trip.
Question by: Todd Chatham on Mar 4, 2025, 2:16 AM
Thank you very much for contacting Victor.

I’d like to share that the Metal Pedal Mouse Trap does not have an option to adjust its sensitivity. However, please note that using too much bait can affect the trap’s sensitivity. We recommend using only a pea-sized amount or what fits on the end of a toothpick.

If you’re looking for a trap with adjustable sensitivity, the Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap (M205) offers this feature. You can find it on our website.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Warm regards

I HAVE SQUIRRELS IN THE HOUSE I MUST GET RID OF THEM
Question by: TIMOTHY JENNINGS on Mar 13, 2025, 9:48 AM
Thank you for reaching out to us. I’m sorry to hear about your squirrel issue.

I would like to inform you that the Victor® Electronic Mouse Trap is specifically designed for mice and rats, and it is not manufactured to handle squirrels. For effective squirrel control, we recommend looking for traps specifically designed for larger rodents.

Please feel free to contact us if you need any guidance on choosing the right trap for your situation. We’re here to help!
