Thank you very much for contacting us. It would be our pleasure to assist you. Using this trap is very easy – simply apply bait in the designated bait cup and place the trap indoors or outdoors where you’ve noticed activity. There is no setting required. The see-saw design allows mice to enter the trap, and once fully inside, they cannot escape. After a catch has been made, the rear door opens for offsite release, so you never have to touch the rodent.

The videos don’t show the cardboard that surrounds the entryway for the mouse. Do I remove the cardboard?

This trap features a transparent top so you can easily see inside. The rear door opens for convenient, offsite release after a catch, and the lid opens for easy cleaning.

The Victor® Catch & Hold™ Mouse Trap is designed as a one-piece trap and normally does not require reassembly. The lid should snap securely back into place on the base after opening for cleaning or releasing mice.

I bought 2 of these humane traps as an alternative to anti-coagulation poison. I have a pet! The traps are placed outside, near building wall where I suspect is an entry under siding. The bait in both get eaten but nothing gets trapped. The plastic has not been chewed at all. Why isn’t the door trapping the mice? Is this relying on gravity & weight of the mouse?

The Victor® Catch & Hold™ Mouse Trap is not activated by the mouse’s weight. The trap uses a one-way entry door that allows mice to enter but makes it difficult for them to exit once inside.
If the bait is being eaten without any mice being captured, a few things may be happening:
- The trap may not be sitting level on the ground, preventing the door from operating properly.
- The entry door could be obstructed by dirt, debris, or moisture, especially when used outdoors.
- Very small mice may be able to access the bait without fully entering the trap.
- Outdoor conditions can sometimes affect the movement of the door mechanism.
For best results, place the trap on a flat, stable surface directly along the mouse travel path with the entrance parallel to the wall. Also, check that the entry door moves freely and is not blocked.
