Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap

Eliminate your rodent problem quickly and effectively with the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap. From set-up and use through cleaning and maintenance, each zap will be a snap thanks to the easy-to-use design. The ultra-sized chamber is ideal for targeting larger rats that invade your property. This humane trap kills rodents using a high-voltage shock and since rats are able to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes to ensure higher kill rates. High-Voltage Shock Humanely Kills Rodents

High-Voltage Shock Humanely Kills Rodents

The Rat Zapper® Ultra is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when a rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, it steps on the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a continuous high-voltage shock for 2 minutes to effectively eliminate rat invader. This trap is capable of eliminating up to 60 rats per set of fully charged batteries (4 “D”).

LED Light Alerts

With the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap, simplifying your pest control routine is a breeze. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes red to indicate a kill. You’ll know when it’s time to empty your trap without having to check manually. Plus, the convenient LED light function will not only notify you of a catch, but it will also alert you when the trap’s battery is running low by rapidly flashing red.

No-Touch Cleanup

No-Touch Cleanup

With the Rat Zapper® Ultra, cleanup is effortless! Unlike standard rat traps, you don’t have to touch or look at dead rodents. The rat is contained within the kill chamber, which hides it from sight, while the indicator light lets you know when it’s time to empty. After a kill, just tip the trap to discard the dead rodent into the trash without having to touch it.

Step 1: Add Bait
Step 2: Insert Batteries
Step 3: Place the Trap
Step 4: Turn Trap on

How to Set the Rat Zapper® Ultra

For your convenience, the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap is very easy to use. Get your trap setup by following these four simple steps:

  1. Add Bait - Apply a small amount of high-protein bait, such as peanut butter, to the back wall of the trap away from the metal plates using a Q-tip or other tool to avoid transferring your scent.
  2. Insert Batteries - Remove the battery cover. Insert 4 “D” batteries into the battery compartment before replacing the cover.
  3. Place the Trap - Place the trap on a flat surface against a wall where you have seen signs of rodent activity. The trap should be placed lengthwise with the entrance nearest to the wall.
  4. Turn On - Activate by flipping the switch to the “ON” position. A green light will blink once to indicate the trap is functioning properly.

Bought two from Amazon and they stopped working only after a few months. One trap caught one rat, the other didn't catch any. Too much money to waste on something that shorts out or stops working shortly after purchase.

Have used the Victor Rat Zapper for many years with great success. We skip the peanut butter and use one walnut inside at the very inside grated end, works every time with less cleanup. The rats and mice can't resist walnuts. We use the cheap batteries, they seem to last just as well. Do clean inside after each catch cause the rats can smell the last catch. Remove batteries and clean with a couple drops of dish soap and water. ONLY clean the inside bottom and air dry bottom side up. This keeps water from entering the electronic parts. Placing against walls seems to work better. The older all metal traps worked better than the new plastic/metal ones, despite this we still recommend them. Buy online when on sale and use your points.

The mice eat the peanut butter and walk out. Brand new unit. Just received yesterday. There’s no way to test it. A waste of $50 we don’t have. Thanks, Victor, for making this low quality product.

We're sorry to hear this happened! This is highly unusual for this trap when it is used as directed. The trap uses non-rechargeable batteries and is designed for indoor use only. It is also covered by a 1-year replacement policy. Please contact us at 855-584-2867 with any questions, we're happy to help.

We have used these Rat Zappers for many years. Nothing lasts forever so we buy more when they die which they do like everything else. It seems the older ones were better made then the new ones, they lasted longer. I will continue to buy and use these because they work.

When I first got it the device killed 3 rats but after that rats ate the bait and left. No other kills. At this time I would not advise it.

Thank you for sharing this feedback. We're sorry to hear that this is happening with your trap. If the metal plates of the trap are dirty, it may need to be cleaned. Our traps have a one year replacement policy. Reach out to us via the Contact Us page with any questions.
The traps don't last.

The traps don't last. I've had probably a dozen of them - a mix of models. I keep buying them because I'm afraid of the snap traps and they are effective - if only for a short while. I've had the same problem with every one I've bought. They last varying amounts of time but are very effective when first purchased.

Q&A

Do we need to clean the trap after a mouse is caught?
Question by: Lee on Dec 7, 2024, 1:35 PM
Thank you for reaching out. Regular cleaning helps maintain the functionality of the trap. To prevent damage to the mechanism or the sensors, which could affect its performance. Use a hydrogen peroxide topical solution (available at most drug stores) and an old toothbrush to clean the inside of the chamber. Use a wire brush as needed to remove any corrosion, being careful not to be too vigorous. This could accidentally remove all the protective zinc plating. Allow the interior and exterior of the kill chamber to air dry completely before reassembling.

If the interior floor gets soiled can it be flushed? Just the floor.

The zapper indicates it could use a plug in adapter instead of batteries but you don't appear to sell one.
What type of plug is it. Is the center contact positive?
Thank you.
Question by: Rick Page on Oct 13, 2025, 6:04 PM
This trap used to be equipped with a plug, but that feature has been obsolete for several years and is no longer available. The traps have since been updated and are no longer manufactured with this plug.
The current models operate using batteries only.

Does it use rechargeable size D batteries?
Question by: CY Chang on Nov 1, 2024, 7:31 PM
We do not recommend using rechargeable batteries with this trap.
Answer by: Kristen on Nov 1, 2024, 8:43 PM
I have a Rat Zapper Ultra that has been working (zapped 2 rats). I have cleaned the insides of the Zapper as directed but the rats will no longer enter the trap. I have a camera that records the rats avoiding the entrance to the trap. Please advise.
Question by: paul mizuno on Dec 4, 2025, 3:23 PM
Hi, thank you for reaching us. You can try by cleaning the trap with hydrogen peroxide topical solution (available at most drug stores - nothing above 3% in solution). Clean the inside with a toothbrush and the outside with a piece of cloth, to remove any scent (rat or human). Use gloves to avoid leaving your scent on it after cleaning the trap. Place the trap along walls where they primarily travel. We also recommend the use of high-protein bait like peanut butter.
