Helpfulness
It caught 2 mice so far and didn't kill either of them. So cruel.

Doesn't kill mice

We're sorry to hear the trap didn't work as expected. For best results, place the trap in an area where mouse activity is present, with the trigger end against the wall. Using a small amount of bait, such as peanut butter, can also help attract mice to the trap. Proper placement and baiting can improve the trap's effectiveness.
Have had two of these ... worked once. Failed the second time, cruel trap.

Have had two of these set out in my garage for about a month. The first time it trapped and killed the mouse. Then two nights ago, it didn't kill the mouse. The mouse was alive and flipping out and struggling, peeing everywhere. These need to be taken off the market. I didn't buy this "quick-kill" plastic trap and was disappointed when I saw them, a member of my household bought them. I only ever used the 'wide-pedal' wooden Victor mouse traps, which have been successful for me for 20+ years when used appropriately. So, Victor makes good products but this isn't one of them. There's a reason this trap is hidden at the bottom of the list.

We're sorry to hear about your experience. The Victor® Quick-Kill® Mouse Trap is designed to provide a quick, humane kill when it is triggered correctly, so we understand how disappointing this was. For the best performance, make sure the trap is placed with the bait cup facing the wall where mice naturally travel, and use only a small amount of bait so the mouse fully engages the trigger. Also, inspect the trap after each catch to ensure it is clean and that the kill bar moves freely before resetting it. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. Comments like yours are valuable and help us continue improving our products.
DESIGN FLAW!!!

DESIGN FLAW!!! Did not quick kill, trapped injured and did not kill. Had same issue as another commenter. Placed bait side flush to wall, mouse was caught under side bar and not the red plastic. The mouse was trapped and injure but left alive and suffering. Not humane at all! I feel terrible. FIX THIS!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re very sorry for what happened. We understand how upsetting it is to find a mouse injured rather than dispatched quickly, and we take concerns about humane performance seriously. For best results, the trap should be placed with the bait end flush against the wall, ensuring the trigger (red paddle) is the most accessible point of entry. If the trap is slightly angled or if there’s space along the side, a mouse may approach from the wrong direction and avoid the trigger, which can lead to the situation you described. That said, a trap should function reliably and humanely when used as directed. Your feedback is important, and we will be sharing it with our product team to review both the design and placement guidance more closely.
Three times a mouse set ...

Three times a mouse set off this trap and three times the mouse escaped the trap without dying. The design seemed really great but based on video evidence the noise figures out quickly to put it's paw on the top of the bait box and eat the bait out of the hole at the front. We literally have both of these things on video, which is insane. The only good thing this trap did was make it so the mouse put it's weight on the trigger of an old school trap and died immediately. We had two of these new traps and one old school trap and the old school trap has been 2/2 so far.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you sharing those details—it’s helpful feedback. For best results with the Victor® Quick-Kill® Mouse Traps, we recommend placing the trap with the baited end flush against the wall where mice naturally travel, as they tend to move along edges. Using a small amount of peanut butter placed deep inside the bait cup (rather than near the opening) can also help encourage proper trigger activation. If mice are accessing the bait without fully engaging the trigger, slight adjustments to placement or baiting can often improve performance.

If I could give a 0, I would. I bought the live trap and they didn’t work at all. This trap closed on the mouse and in the morning the poor thing was still alive! This is very disturbing to me. Horrible product, a waste of money. I will be looking for a different brand of live trap!

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re very sorry to hear about this situation. We understand how upsetting it must have been to find the mouse still alive after being caught. That’s certainly not the outcome we want, and we regret the distress this caused. Your feedback about the trap’s performance is very important to us, and we’ll be sure to share it with our product team for review.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Victor® Quick-Kill® Mouse Trap. We’re sorry to hear this wasn’t the performance you expected. For best results, only a small amount of bait should be used and placed on the bait pedal so it doesn’t interfere with the trigger mechanism. Pressing the bait firmly into the pedal can also help ensure proper activation. If the traps still aren’t functioning as intended, please contact us and we’ll be happy to assist further.
Does not give quick, humane kill due to design flaw
2
Jan 17, 2026
This product does NOT give a quick, human kill. The issue is with the side bars, which can trap the mouse but not quickly kill it. I believe what is happening is that the mouse can access the bait compartment, and set off the trap, from the side. (long edge of the trap). When this happens, the bar comes down, but it is the side bars (the two parallel metal bars) which come down on the mouse (not the red kill bar). Because there is a decent amount of space between the side bars and the mouse trap platform (even when the bar is down), what happens is that the mouse is trapped, but not killed. This has happened to me numerous times. On these occasions, the mouse was trapped and hurt, but still living. To end its suffering, I had to kill it myself. I am just noticing that this design flaw has been mentioned numerous times by other people (if I would have seen these reviews earlier, I wouldn't have purchased the product). In these reviews, Victor claims that the orientation/placement of the trap needs to be correct. However, I followed their instructions perfectly, and this still occurred. Just to double check, I changed the orientation of the trap (e.g. always up against the wall, but sometimes parallel, sometimes with the bait facing the wall, sometimes the other way), and this issue of the mouse getting trapped in the side bar still occurs. The only reason I am giving this two stars instead of one is because that, if the mouse goes into the bait trap head on, the trap sometimes works. But for a significant amount of time, the mouse gets trapped and doesn't die humanely. I appreciate that Victor strives to create humane traps (kill and no-kill); I thank them for this. However, the above seems to suggest a design flaw, and it would be very much appreciated if the engineering team can either modify the design or take the product off the market. Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback on the Victor® Quick-Kill® Mouse Trap. We’re sorry to hear about the experience you described. This trap is designed to deliver a quick result when used as directed, so the situations you mentioned are not expected. Proper placement flush against the wall with the trigger end facing the wall is important, but we understand you’ve already followed the instructions and still experienced issues. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, as feedback like this is important for ongoing product evaluation and improvement.
Not set-up right!?

Hi! My husband left the review about the trap getting chewed through because it was set up right? We bought a 4 pack and had 2 set up, the one got chewed through and mouse got away. So how is that quick kill? The other did die… but after he bled all over my kitchen floor because the trap got him but he STILL GOT OUT AFTERWARDS. It doesn’t matter about set-up with these they’re a waste of the money. Get the old fashioned wood and metal ones, it might not be quick but the mouse doesn’t get away and back into your house.

Thank you for sharing this feedback on the Victor® Quick-Kill® Mouse Trap. We’re sorry to hear about your experience, as this trap is designed to provide a fast, enclosed kill when used as directed, and the situations you described aren’t expected. To help improve performance, it’s important that the trap is placed flush against a wall with the entry opening aligned to the mouse’s path, and that it’s set on a flat surface so the mechanism can fully engage. Avoid placing it where pets, debris, or uneven flooring could interfere with the trap closing completely.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Victor® Quick-Kill® Mouse Trap. We’re sorry to hear it didn’t perform as expected. This trap is designed to deliver a quick, humane kill when set and baited correctly, so the chewing and escape you described aren’t typical. Making sure the trap is placed directly along the wall where mice travel and using a small amount of bait pressed firmly into the bait cup can help improve results.
