Helpfulness
Lives up to its name.

Lives up to its name. First I tried traditional snap traps. When they did catch something, all it did was trap an arm, I had to kill the mouse myself. I have one that is still set and all the bait is gone. With these traps, every strike has been a kill. The covered bait cup only has one entry point so they have to go at it from the front. I just have to lift the arm and drop the mouse in the trash. The only catch was that one dead mouse's mouth was still hooked on the bait cup, and I had wiggle the trap a few times to get it to drop off.

Whoever named this thing “Quick-Kill” ...

Whoever named this thing “Quick-Kill” has a sick sense of humor! I set two of these up, along with two classic metal pedal traps, all facing toward the walls as instructed. A night or two before I finally caught the mouse, one of the Quick-Kills had gone off without catching anything while I was off at work; to Victor’s credit, almost all of the bait I placed in the trap was still there, so the claim of mice not stealing bait are true. I woke up before my alarm one morning, and after 10 minutes of scrolling on my phone I heard an SNAP! I was reluctant to get out of my warm bed, so I resolved to get to it after I took my morning shower, which itself would be taken once my normal alarm went off. As I got out of bed and walked to the bathroom, however, I heard a clacking sound coming from the room connected to mine. I stepped in to find a mouse writing and struggling to escape, its neck pinned to the trap by the side of the bars (which makes sense, considering the only way to access the trap up against the wall was from the sides. In order to prevent its escape and further suffering, I had to bludgeon it to death with the heaviest swingable object I could find; in my case, a large flashlight. In summary, if you only care about CATCHING mice, this trap works. But if you want to trap and kill mice, pick something else!

We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience with the Victor® Quick-Kill® Mouse Traps. The trap is designed to deliver a quick and humane strike when used as directed, so a catch that doesn’t result in an immediate kill may indicate a misalignment or an issue with the strike mechanism. We understand how upsetting this situation must have been, and we appreciate you sharing the details. Please contact our Consumer Care Team at 1-855-584-2867 so we can further assist. We’re available Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 7 PM EST.
I am very traumatized right ...

I am very traumatized right now. This was first time used this piece of crap product. An hour ago heard trap on mouse. It had its neck but it was very much alive, trap flopping around trying to get loose. Then started screaming, then would stop for minute, thought died but then flopping, screaming again. I couldn't let it suffer like that. I have never had this happen with regular traps and I didn't know what to do. I got shovel and thought one good hit and it would be over but it only made him hurt worse, I think trap got part of it so did it again and trap went flying, he flew out and finally died. It was horrible. I guess I should have sprung trap right away to lessen its pressure but I didn't think of it, all I wanted was to end it's suffering. I am still crying. I am no wimp but I will have to find a way to get over how I caused that pain. I don't do drama, this was BAD. DO NOT TRY THIS PRODUCT

I have used Victor mouse traps for many years and found the Quick-Kill mouse trap the most sanitary and effective to use by far. The engineered design of this trap is impressive and has always resulted in quick kills and no escapes. I will recommend this trap to anyone in need of a trap.

Does NOT kill.

In some ways, there are parts of this design that are good. The trap is very easy to set, and the door mechanism prevents mice from stealing bait without getting caught. Those things could be commended, but this trap has a major, glaring flaw that cannot be ignored: It does not kill mice. Unlike older style metal spring traps, which usually manage to instantly break a mouse's neck, killing them right away, this trap simply is too weak to do this. It just maims the mouse, leaving them writhing in pain on your floor, screaming, and very much alive. I have tried this trap three times in the past. Three times it has failed to kill effectively, and three times I have had to finish off the mouse with my own hands. In truth, there is no "Humane" way to kill an animal, but there are certainly inhumane ways. This is one of them. What you get in the convenience of setting the trap is massively outweighed by the suffering this design will cause. Not recommended.

Came here frustrated as I used this trap and it was in fact NOT a quick kill. Had a caught mouse suffer for 10+ hours. Not surprised to see a slew of 1star reviews with the same experience. Weird how the site says the product has only 5star reviews This trap is inhumane and should be pulled from shelves. Buy tomcats, they do the job

Absolutely terrible. The mouse did not die and suffered flopping all over trying to get loose.

Do NOT buy these mouse traps I ordered these traps because they were quick kill which is further from the truth. The mice are alive for 12 to 24 hours. The last trap I set to give them one last chance the mouse was alive for 12 hours while I was not home and so I let it go. I don’t like mice, but I don’t like them to suffer either. I would give it a zero if I could. Customer service would only send me different traps versus refunding. I would absolutely NOT recommend these.

Very disappointed

Bought a 2-pack and the morning after we set both out, one was missing from where we placed it. Common sense told me the mouse was probably not dead and had moved the trap, so we started searching. We found a live mouse, neck caught in the trap, 20+ feet away as it had moved across our kitchen and around to the entranceway door. As much as I don’t want mice inside my home, this felt so cruel.

Q&A

How do I disarm the trap? I accidentally reset it when I dropped the mouse out of it. I need to clean it and refill the bait cup.
Question by: Janet Lipham on Dec 30, 2025, 8:08 AM
To disarm the Victor® Quick-Kill® Mouse Trap, press down on the kill bar until the trap opens and locks in the open position. This will safely reset the trap so you can clean it and refill the bait cup. Once finished, you can set it again by pressing the kill bar down until it clicks.

We’re my Victor quick-kill mouse traps designed by a girl? Maybe by someone afraid to hurt a mouse? I’m going back to old fashioned traps that actually kill mice. This was the last time I’ll fall for fixing something that isn’t broken. New and improved usually sucks.
Question by: Steve on Jan 14, 2026, 4:17 PM
Victor® Quick-Kill® Mouse Traps are engineered to provide a powerful, fast-acting kill mechanism that has been thoroughly tested for effectiveness. The design is based on performance and precision, not changes to reduce impact. We appreciate the feedback and understand that different trap styles work better for different preferences.
