We have used Victor mouse traps successfully for years. This model of snap trap is the strongest one yet. We use small amounts of peanut butter only. We also anchor it with wire in the holes provided at the edge of the trap. This way the mouse doesn't drag it away. Never had any problems. All clean kills.
bought several of these and "caught" two mice. they were very much alive...just injured. since then, I have not killed any mice. this trap is a mouse feeder. every morning, the traps are sprung, no bait left, and no mouse in the trap. DO NOT BUY.

Paid a little extra for these over the classic trap, only to be disappointed. I apparently have a very careful mouse in my garage. First two night he/she licked the peanut butter off both traps. Third night got 2 peices of strategically placed kraft single cheese. Tonight I plan to really mush the cheese onto the bait trap an see if I have better luck. Hopefully he's not full! LOL
We are sorry to hear this! If you test the trap (carefully!) with a pencil or something similar, does it trip properly? If it does, try baiting the trap using only a small amount of peanut butter (just what fits on the end of a toothpick). By using a smaller amount, the mice are less likely to be able to quickly grab the bait and run without setting off the trap. I'm not sure why all the negative reviews but I have used these traps for years with no issues and wouldn't go back to the regular wire trap. The traps are super easy to set and deal with and mice are killed instantly. I can grab the trap, toss out the mouse and reset it easily. The traps have lasted for years. It works best if you pack peanut butter into the bottom back. Outdoors, sometimes ants or other insects eat the bait before the mouse can get it. The only issues I have had are a ground squirrel stealing the trap for the peanut butter and a barn cat dragging the trap away with the dead mouse in it.
Unfortunately, this trap does not trap or kill mice, but it will knock them senseless. So instead of a dead mouse in a trap in a cupboard, I have an anguished mouse flopping around in the middle of my kitchen floor. Cruel and disgusting.

Used these traps for about 2 months. Caught a few mice, and other times found trap sprung, bait gone and no mice. Then I found one with trap sprung and blood all over. Had it set in my van on the floor, and found the mouse in the back still alive but gasping for breath. Tried again, got a couple more dead mice but then one that was caught in the trap and very much alive. Picked the trap up and he was frantically swimming in the air trying to get free. I didn't have the guts to kill either of them so I just threw them out in the woods and let nature do her thing. Not a good product if it can't humanely kill the mouse every time.

First day using it, it caught a mouse, but did not kill it. Mouse suffered a lot. Had to put it out of its misery as it was gasping for breath. This is not a clean-kill product.
