If you use the right ...

If you use the right bait, and set it firmly on the trip plate, you will get the mouse. I have used these for years. Peanut Butter works the best, do not put anything on trail as bait that could be easily lifted in the mouth of a mouse. You need them to pull at the bait on the trip plate. If using in a basement of or similar area, and you have Camel Crickets, sometimes called Spider Crickets please note that they can nibble all the peanut butter off the trap, without tripping it. You need to check the traps every few days, especially in warmer weather. Victor makes a great trap-now order it and start catching the mice.

I’ve been using Victor mouse trap brand my whole life and there just isn’t a better mouse trap company. Don’t waste your money on the new mouse traps people produce. Go victor. I’ve caught so many mice with these traps. You just have to get to know them, and they will trap your mice, I just caught a mouse last night with the trap with NO bait! Now that’s a good trap

Better than “Quick-kill” plastic

These traps are better than the plastic “quick-kill” I may lose my bait on these ones once in a while but when they snap they kill, if not kill then they are TRAPPED. Go read my other review if you want to know how I feel about the plastic ones.

The mouse took the bate- beef jerky- but the snap (i had two placed) never snapped. I tried multiple times to make the snap release but none of the metal mouse pads would release. I safely packaged them for trash. I own a pest control company so this did not look good to my customers. I took a video dropping items on the traps showing they will bot release but this site doesn’t allow video. I tried to upload a photo but it wouldn’t upload.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Victor® Metal Pedal Mouse Trap. The metal trigger should release easily when bait is disturbed, so a trap that won’t activate even under pressure may indicate a defective unit or misaligned trigger bar. For best results, place the trap on a flat surface and use a small amount of sticky bait so the mouse must apply direct pressure to the pedal.

I have tested 100+ traps and can STRONGLY RECOMMEND this product. I had used these a while back and had noticed that there was always one fatal flaw that would come back to haunt me. The mice would lick the bait clean then leave without getting caught. But after several months of trial and error testing different baits and techniques I found a foolproof way to use the traps and have a 100% kill rate. I would start by taking a piece of cotton and tucking it into the bait plate so the mouse has to tug it to get it out. I would then smear peanut butter into the cotton making a highly effective killing machine. I hope this is helpful

I purchased 4 traps from a big box store, baited them with peanut butter, came back the next morning and the peanut butter was gone and the traps never went off. I then purchased Victor mouse traps from my local hardware store, baited and set them out and immediately that night I caught mice. The traps were set right next to the foreign made traps I had rebaited and all had their bait eaten and the traps didn't go off. I can't recommend Victor mouse any higher. Definitely a 10 out of 5 stars

OK...to clear this rating is for the "old" type trap shown here. They say: build a better mousetrap...well that stupid version with the yellow pad ISN'T a better mousetrap! Did the designer ever try to set one? I'd rate the yeoow paddle one a -2. Nopw I have to go find a place that still sells the old type.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience with the Victor® Metal Pedal Mouse Trap. The new yellow pedal design is made to provide a larger activation surface and more sensitive trigger, ensuring a quicker response. When setting the trap, hold it firmly on a flat surface and apply steady pressure on the kill bar until the pedal locks in place. We understand some users prefer the older style, and we appreciate your feedback as we continue improving our designs.
Mice eat the bait but ...

Mice eat the bait but trap doesn’t spring. I’ve used Victor spring traps for years but recent traps seem defective. Used four different traps with either peanut butter or cheese. Bait completely gone, looked like a brand new trap set without bait. I suspect the spring puts so much tension on the trigger rod that it in essence “locks” it into the trip pad. Com’on Victor, do better!

I have found that from time to time a mouse will get the peanut butter without the trap snapping. When this happens, I put out a few more freshly set traps right next to the non-sprung traps. Inevitably, when the mouse that got away with a free meal the first time either walks on the non-sprung trap to get to the newly set trap and, well, SNAP! So, experiment a bit but this trap is great. Nice product. Just buy more than one.
