Mice just eat the bait
1
Feb 22, 2026
I bought two of these. I put them in my garage. The mice have just been eating the bait with no kill. I had the previous generation of these and they worked much better, caught a lot of mice. The new design seems to be a dud. The previous generation made a buzzing noise when you turned the switch on, these don't.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that Victor® Electronic Mouse Traps are not performing as expected, especially since you had success with the previous generation. The newer design does operate differently. Now, a green light will flash to indicate the unit has been enabled when turned on. However, the traps should still activate properly when a mouse enters and makes contact with the plates. If mice were able to eat the bait without triggering the trap, that is certainly not the experience we want for you. Please note that your traps are covered by a 1-year warranty. Simply contact our customer support team at 855-584-2867, and we’ll assist you with troubleshooting or a replacement. We truly appreciate your feedback regarding the design changes, and we will share your comments with our product team.

These traps are the best thing I have ever used. I recommend these to all my family and friends that have dealt with mice issues. Less then 24 hours of putting these out, we have gotten 4 mice.

Very Effective and No Mess

I bought one at Home Depot and it works great, kills quick without a mess and easy disposal. Great system. I was using a live-trap cage and letting them go miles from the house, but apparently they don't do well in the wild, especially in the winter. We were also starting to get overwhelmed out here in the woods, so I just ordered a 2-pack.

BEWARE!

BEWARE! Victor changes their designs and makes traps that were purchased obsolete and does not carry refill chambers for the older ones. Yet the older models are still being sold by their retailers! I, over time, invested in 7 (prior to that I had 2 of the previous models) of model: Victor M250SSR-2 Indoor Electronic Humane Mouse Trap at a cost close to $200 - most recently 2 were purchased in Sept of 2024. Now I need them to work since Victor told me years ago that the electrodes can stop working with time (I had purchased refill chambers that were made by a different manufacturer that didn't work last night) - I'm ready to buy the more expensive chambers made by Victor and they no longer sell them! Yet, they tell me I can still possibly find the old models in some of their retail stores! I invested in these traps with the assumption that the product would be supported! What a waste of my money (and time!)! I liked the traps and told friends about them but I will no longer purchase from Victor - will find a more reliable manufacturer. At $25 a trap, I expect it to work beyond a few times (I wasn't using these continuously - and yes, the bait and batteries were both replaced when I did!) - they did work up to a point but I was sold on being able to replace the chambers when needed. I wouldn't buy a car if I couldn't replace the brakes, etc!!!! They represented this product as having replaceble parts! I wouldn't buy a printer if they didn't make ink cartridges for it!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the Victor® Electronic Mouse Trap. We’re sorry for the frustration this situation has caused. We understand your concerns regarding model changes and the availability of replacement chambers, especially after investing in multiple units. Product designs can change over time, and not all components remain compatible across different generations.

We’re really sorry for the frustration this caused and appreciate you sharing your experience. This model was discontinued over two years ago, and support for it is scheduled to end by the end of 2026. Because of that, we’re no longer able to offer a replacement, and warranty handling is done through the original retailer rather than directly through Victor. That said, we understand how disappointing it is when a product stops working, especially due to Wi-Fi connectivity issues, and when support options feel limited. Your feedback about the lack of alternatives and the difficulty getting reconnected is valid and has been shared with our team. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We know this wasn’t the experience you hoped for, and we appreciate your honesty as we work to improve how we communicate product lifecycle and support expectations.
Bought 3, all faulty.

Bought 3, all faulty. I historically had much success with the prior generation of the Victor electronic traps and was disappointed when the local Home Depot stopped carrying them, so when the mice started coming indoors when the weather got cold, I was happy to buy the new version. The QA on these devices is abysmal. The 3 devices shipped to me properly charged but the lids closed poorly. None fit properly; it seems the plastic injection process isn't matching the pieces closely enough. By squeezing the base I got the covers to close and properly set the safety switch, and each device pulsed green showing properly charged. I didn't hear the telltale buzzing of the older devices which was the capacitor charging up, but I figured that was just normal in the new design. All three traps failed to shock mice. I know the mice came and went because there were fresh droppings on the metal contacts in each device and the bait was gone. None of the devices delivered a shock because the light was dark after the mice's meal time. I should have charged them for eating at Victor's Restaurant.

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback on the Victor® Electronic Mouse Trap. We’re sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating this must have been, especially given your past success with earlier models. What you described with the lid fit and lack of activation isn’t expected performance. For proper operation, it’s important that the lid is fully closed so the safety switch is engaged, the metal contacts are kept clean and dry, and the trap is placed flat against a wall where mice travel. Even so, the results you reported indicate the traps may not be functioning as intended. We’d like to help resolve this. Please contact us and our team will be happy to assist further.

It doesn’t work. Bought today put brand new batteries in and it won’t stop blinking red. Changed to more new batteries and same thing. A waste of $25.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the Victor® Electronic Mouse Trap. We’re sorry to hear about the issue. A blinking red light usually indicates the trap door is not fully closed or the metal plates inside are not making proper contact. Making sure the trap is closed firmly, the kill chamber is clean and dry, and the batteries are installed correctly can often resolve this. If the light continues blinking and the trap is not functioning as intended, please contact us we’ll be happy to help.

Great product that really works!

Great product that really works! It's clean, humane, and easy to use if you follow the instructions. There is, however, a design flaw in the new model. The hexagonal scent holes are way too large. The mice get their teeth in and chew right through. The bait is located right next to those openings so mice are not motivated to find the main entrance. The previous model had much smaller scent holes so this was never a problem. Also, the bait shelf is very narrow. There use to be a small depression like a cup which sat below the recent holes which was easier to fill. That being said, this is still the best choice for "a better mouse trap".

It was great, until it wasn't.

It was great, until the refill cartridges sold out. I should have kept and cleaned my old cartridges instead of throwing them away, but had no idea there were no more refills to buy.

We’re sorry to hear about the difficulty finding refill cartridges for the Victor® Electronic Mouse Trap. Availability can vary by retailer, but the cartridges can be cleaned and reused by removing debris and wiping the interior with a damp cloth and hydrogen peroxide.
