Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap - A New Twist on a Classic Design
Simplify your rodent control routine with the Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap. Using the original wooden snap trap design with an improved larger trip pedal to ensure higher catch rates, this trap will help you to effectively eliminate rodents around your household or business. Two settings, Firm and Sensitive, allow you to control the sensitivity of the trap. For the best accuracy and outcome, we recommend setting the trap somewhere between these two settings. In addition, these traps require no chemicals or poisons.
Expanded Trigger Plate
The Wide Pedal Mouse Trap enhances the classic snap trap design by adding a large plastic trigger plate to ensure higher catch rates. The expanded size means it can be easily activated both by rodent interest in food and through accidental contact as mice scamper across the floor.
Easy 4-Step Setup
For your convenience, the Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap is very easy to use. Get your trap setup by following these four simple steps:
Release the Arm Bar - Remove the staple and move it so the arm hangs over the back of the trap.
Bait the Trap - Apply bait on the plastic pedal for best results. Use a high-protein bait such as peanut butter or hazelnut spread.
Hold Securely - Pull back the kill bar and hold it securely with your thumb.
Set the Trap - Place the arm bar over the kill bar and secure it under the plastic pedal. Take note of the Firm and Sensitive setting. The trap will be easier to set on the firm side, but not trip as easy. The trap will be more difficult to set on the sensitive side, but trip very easily.
Location, Location, Location
Set the baited trap in areas where you have noticed high levels of rodent activity. Rodents tend to travel along walls, so placement in this location often works best. For maximum effectiveness, use multiple traps, placed at 2 to 3 foot intervals to increase results. Place the trap with the baited end flush against the wall.
Quick & Effective
Once a rodent triggers the pedal, the Wide Pedal Mouse Trap immediately springs closed to eliminate the pest on contact. After a catch, simply lift the kill bar to dispose of the mouse and reuse the trap or, dispose of the entire trap for quick, clean removal. It’s your decision!
How to Set the Victor® Wide Pedal Mouse Trap

Mouse Trap Instructions
Release the arm bar from the staple.
Move the arm bar to the back of the trap so it hangs over the back of the trap.
Apply a small amount of high-protein bait, such as peanut butter, hazelnut spread or bacon to the yellow plastic pedal on the trap as shown. Use a Q-tip, toothpick or another tool to bait to avoid transferring your scent to the trap.
Pull the kill bar back and hold it in place with your thumb.
Place the arm bar over the kill bar and secure it under the plastic pedal. Take note of the Firm and Sensitive setting. The trap will be easier to set on the firm side, but not trip as easy. The trap will be more difficult to set on the sensitive side, but trip very easily.
Place the trap where you have seen signs of rodent activity or along the wall where rodents primarily travel. The end of the trap where the metal pedal is baited should be placed flush against the wall.
After the mouse is caught, properly dispose of the dead rodent. The trap can either be discarded or reused.
People need to look at the pictures of how to set it. I think everyone is trying to set them wrong and that's why they are having trouble with it. It's easy to set and it works if they are set the correct way

I like these traps and have successfully used them for years. They can be set from "very sensitive" (which I prefer) to "not sensitive at all". Until now the only problem I had encountered was one of the retaining pins on the snapping bar would pop loose after many uses. However, in the last pack I bought one of the traps failed after two catches. I have not yet caught anything in the other new traps but a 25% failure rate on a new trap is concerning.
I would give 0 stars if there was an option. It only catches my fingers. It's not that it's way too sensitive. The metal thing that goes under the plastic pedal is short. Doesn't matter if I put the pedal under 20-30-40 degrees or if I put to left or right side. As soon as I let it go it snaps my fingers. Very disappointed

Absolutely garbage. The engineers who designed these should have to set them to keep their jobs.
Thank you for sharing this recent experience with our traps. We apologize for the difficulty in setting them. To learn more about setting this trap and bait placement, we recommend watching our instructional video, linked below.

I’m a city girl that relocated to a rural area. Never saw a mouse in my life until I found 2 baby mice in my basement. The babies were easy to catch but I needed to catch mommy. I brought Victor snap traps, watched the how to video, used a toothpick to put peanut butter in the trap. I set up 24 traps in the basement & caught 2 mice within 36 hours. So I was quite pleased & highly recommend Victor snap traps. I also read all the information on the website & found it extremely helpful. So thank you Victor!
After several misfires and multiple failed attempts, I was able to get four traps set. Three of them had self-triggered by the next morning. No kills. The plastic bait/trigger mechanism is insufficient at anchoring the trigger arm, making the traps much too sensitive. A metal liner inside the plastic receptacle area might help the trigger bar anchor better, or swap out the plastic bait part with metal. Anyway, returned products.
Thank you for sharing this feedback. We're sorry to hear about this recent experience with these traps. They can be set with either a firm (F) or sensitive (S) setting - when looking at the yellow cheese pedal. Reach out to us via the Contact Us page with any additional questions.

Here is a real review ...

Here is a real review from somebody with trapping experience for 68 years. This mouse traps is outstanding. 100% kill rate no get-away's. These are made here in America. The TOMCAT brand is owned by Scotts as in Turf Builder, are made in China on the box, weak spring, stiff trip pedal, and the hold down you end up with the trip too high. The TOMCAT's are a copy and junk when compared to the VICTOR's. Here is how to work these, first the trip has a small area in front where you put a tiny amount of peanut butter, its a tiny cut out, just a tiny amount. The same cut out behind on the same trip plate you left the plastic plate, I tilt them holding them up and then insert the trip retaining bar for the trap. Just slowly let the kill bar up and it will catch on the plastic notch inside just ever so slightly. Its supposed to be that way! Place facing a wall say two inches away. Its so sensitive that as soon as they touch the plastic trip plate, kaboom over. Use Latex gloves, pick up and for the common person just drop in plastic grocery bag, tie off, and into the trash. No your not going break a hand doing this, its a mousetrap. Hope this helps everyone. How many you ask? 14 and counting Cat adoption coming next. No were not filthy, the neighbors on both sides did complete renovations, and one house sat vacant for over six months, so they came over here. Lovely not a problem for 34 years until now. None caught today...wooo hooo.
