Sweeney’s® Sonic Spike™
Safely send moles and gophers scurrying from your yard unharmed with this easy-to-use mole and gopher spike. When placed in the ground and activated, sonic pulses penetrate the soil, emitting a sound which is highly irritating to moles and gophers who are virtually blind and overly sensitive to sound and vibrations. Climate permitting, leave the sonic mole and gopher repeller in the ground to repel new generations of pests.
The mole and gopher sonic spike is designed with a convenient removable battery sleeve for trouble-free battery replacement. A Spike will work for 4 – 6 months on one set of alkaline batteries*. Spike must be used continuously for 7-14 days before moles and gophers start to move away from the area.
Be sure to insert the Spike into the soil so that the cap is flush with the ground to avoid tripping hazards and the chance of hitting it with a lawnmower. Effectiveness depends largely upon soil type: dry, sandy or peat soil does not conduct the sonic waves easily. Moist clay is the best conductor of sound.
*Spikes use 3 "D" cell batteries, not included.

How to Use
- STEP 1-To open, unscrew YELLOW cap counter-clockwise.
- STEP 2-Remove battery cartridge and insert 3 "D" cell batteries. Re-insert the battery cartridge into the Spike. If battery installation is correct, you will hear the first vibrating sound within 15 seconds.
- STEP 3-Tighten the cap securely to keep moisture out.
- STEP 4-Use a wooden or steel rod to make pilot holes prior to inserting the Mole & Gopher Sonic Spikes™. To prevent damage, do not hammer the Spike into the ground.
- STEP 5-Insert Spike until the bottom of the cap begins touching the ground.
- STEP 6-Insert Spike all the way into the ground. This will prevent the chance of hitting it with a lawnmower. Be certain to insert the Spike so that the cap is flush with the ground. If it protrudes an inch or two it could be a tripping hazard. Remember whrere the Spike is located so it may be removed for battery replacement.
- STEP 7-Remove Sonic Spike™ when flooding may occur or before ground freezes.

a total rip off. product works at first for couple of weeks , then as the battery power begins to weaken the moles move right back in. don't waste your money.Response From Victor®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateCould be decent product but low quality
Rather than a liberal return-failed-unit policy, they should work on initial quality instead. Bought 3 in quick succession because each failed right out of the box. Just shoddy manufacturing requiring extra trip to store for replacement...which doesn't work either. Two of my old ones buzzing away but can't get enough working ones to accomplish what I need. Liberal exchange policy is NOT the answer for bad, low quality manufacturing.Response From Victor®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateGood idea hurt by poor quality
Have used spikes twice. First time seemed to work vs. moles. Couple years later had to try again. Problem was initial quality of the product. Fresh out of the box they didn't work. No charge, no sound. (Yes, the were turned on). Just shoddy. Merchant decent in taking returns one after another for exchange but after fourth one, decided mfr. just didn't care. Very disappointing.Response From Victor®Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateNOT DEPENDABLE!
I bought two of these spikes. One worked, the other did not (no sound). I bought a third one. It didn't work. I called customer service. The person I spoke with told me to turn the switch "ON" and leave it for 3-5 days so it could charge. The spike would then emit the sound. It has been two weeks and still not sound. Not buying a fourth!Response From Victor®Susan : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateProvide an effective barrier
They work well for gophers but not for moles
Review RateA good product that seems to work.
I tried castor oil concoctions, worm baits, and poison, and moles always came back. After hearing how my son drove squirrels out of his attic with a sonic device, I bought two solar powered spikes for moles. I haven't see a trace for 4-5 weeks. In fact bought 2 more to protect other areas of the lawn. Question: The first two I bought didn't make any audible noise. The second two emit a high pitch squeal on a regular basis. Higher than the 400 Hz emission that is used to deter moles. What is "normal" operation? Thanks for making a great product.Response From Victor®Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative
Thank you for sharing this feedback. The spike should emit a sonic pulse every 30 seconds, sounding like a long, drawn out beep. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) for additional assistance.
Review RateHoping they work.
So far they have not worked for me. Put them in the ground several months ago with very little success. I added 9 more two weeks ago and waiting to see if it helps. Also ordered the spray and pellets hoping they might help.Response From Victor®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

Each spike will repel moles and gophers in an area of up to 7500 sq ft, with moist clay soil being the best conductor of the sound. They will start to move out after 7-14 days of continuous use. Review RateIs it working?
I just placed my first sonic spike. When I installed it a day ago it had an audible sound when I inserted the batteries and also when placed in the ground it was audible. One day later I heard nothing so I bought new Durcell batteries. The sound was audible when I inserted them but the sound now is only heard when out of the tube....very low. So...should the sound level remain as loud as it is when you load the batteries or not? I can't rate the product because I am not even sure if it is working. Thanks.Response From Victor®Anthony : Consumer Relations Representative
We appreciate the time taken to share this feedback and are happy to help. The sound will be muffled once properly placed into the ground, where it will create vibrations that irritate moles and gophers enough to move on to a more tranquil environment.

Review Ratewould not recomend
Does not work. They seem to enjoy the sonic noise. I had more holes after installing. Yes, they are moles.Response From Victor®Anthony : Consumer Relations Representative
We appreciate the time taken to share this unusual experience and would like to learn more about it. When the spikes are driven far enough so that the cap section is flush with the ground, the sound will cause vibrations that travel underground to irritate the moles.
Please give our Consumer Relations Team a call at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) so we may better understand what is happening and offer troubleshooting assistance.
Review RateNot Happy At This Time
I purchased 8 of these spikes last year. Four give a loud sound, 4 you can hardly hear. Last year I had moles come right up too and move right by the spikes. Those could have been the ones with minimal sound. I will try the ones with audible sound this year to see if they are effective. I'm trying to get replacements on the ones you can hardly hear--- still waiting on a reply to my phone call and subsequent submission of a copy of my receipts.Response From Victor®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative
We apologize for this experience and appreciate the feedback.
Moles and gophers will start to move away from the area after 7-14 days of continuous use. When they first encounter this deterrent, they may move in closer initially to investigate the source in an attempt to be rid of it.
