Trapping moles has never been easier, thanks to the sleek, ergonomically designed Deadset® Mole Trap. If you’ve ever struggled to set a mole trap, you will undoubtedly appreciate how effortless it is to activate this yard mole trap. The Deadset® features a comfortable, easy grasp handle and an oversized activator plate that can be pushed into the tunnel by hand or foot.
The rugged ground mole trap contains a patented, precision built triggering system that is activated by the slightest movement. When underground movement is detected, the spears are thrust into the ground, quickly killing the mole. A mole trap that works this efficiently and effectively takes trapping moles to an entirely new level.
The Deadset® Mole Trap comes fully assembled and ready-to-use. The package contains simple illustrated operating instructions and a mobile device scan for detailed step-by-step video instructions.

Effective tips to help win the war on moles
Before setting the trap, water the lawn to bring the mole's food source (earthworms and bugs) up near the ground surface. The next step is to locate active tunnels. Flatten tunnels by walking on them and then wait a day. If the tunnel rises up, it's active. This is where the trap should be placed.
When setting a plunge-style mole trap, make sure the spears can move freely through the ground when the trap is triggered. Test the Deadset® by pulling up on the handle to set the trap and then pushing down on the trap release lever located on the side of the trap. This will drive the spears into the ground. Raise and lower the trap until the spears are unobstructed by roots or rocks. Always use the release lever to trip the trap before moving it to another location.

I live on 3 acres with 1/2 of that woods so moles are pretty common in the wooded area and frequently migrate to the yard. A professional extermination company charges either $300 bucks for a couple of months of trapping or $60 per mole caught. My purchase of 6 traps cost me about $90 bucks. I set the traps and immediately caught two moles and then it got dry and activity stopped for several weeks with no new catches. After a 4 day rain I redeployed the traps on new active runs and within 48 hours I caught two more. The traps work great and are easy to set and seem to work well. Here are some random thoughts. 1. I have read some complaints about the plastic prongs not being sturdy, if you follow the instructions and set the traps in moist ground (or water before deploying them to encourage the moles to seek food near the surface the traps can be inserted into the ground easily. 2. Out of 6 traps 2 of them are difficult to set. The trigger mechanism does not catch easily when pulling up on the plunger. I have found that lifting or jiggling the release lever helps the trap pan to catch the latch. Some times on the two hair trigger traps out of the 6 might take a dozen attempts to arm the trap. 3. It is imperative that you smash the mole run down at the location you set the trap and that you get the trap pan pushed flat against the ground as it is the vibration and movement of the pan when the mole tries to clear its run that triggers the plunger. 4. If you want to verity that you have caught the mole you really need to dig up the run about 4 inches on each side of the trap as just pulling the spikes out of the ground will not result in any confirmation that you caught anything as any blood will be wiped from the spikes by the dirt. If you are squeamish or just don't want to look at a dead mole then just pull the trap out of the ground and redeploy in another area of the run. It is likely you will get no further activity on that run as moles are loners except for the spring during mating season. Thus, there is usually only one in a given small area. If the redeployed trap does not trigger in a couple of days and you see no more activity in the runs then you can be pretty sure you got him the first time. Leaving it in the run is just like burying it in the back yard. it will decompose in a few weeks. 5. I really like that you can tell at a glance if the trap is triggered. 6. The spring and plunging mechanism seems pretty strong but you want to make sure you plunge the spikes into the ground several times when setting the trap to make sure that the spikes will travel easily into the earth to do their work. I could not be happier with this purchase. The traps really do work as advertised if you follow the recommended instructions (there is a good video on the manufacture's web site). I would definitely recommend these traps and I would also recommend that you purchase more than 1 as the price of 3 of these is cheaper than paying an extermination company to catch a single mole. I also recommend more than one as I like to set 2 or 3 traps in a long run just to increase the chance of getting one quickly. Purchase these traps and you won't be disappointed.Date published: 2016-10-07Rated 1 out of 5 by PM11 from Plastic ground supports broke off after first use The plastic legs broke off one of the units when removing from ground after first use!Date published: 2016-10-04Rated 4 out of 5 by kevin12345 from mole traps work nice, however 2 of the 9 I ordered dont work at all. Just push them into the ground stand on the tabs and pull up. Easier than the metal ones which had to be preset before putting in the ground and I didn't have the strength to set them but these are SOOOOOO Easy & I highly recommend !!! Now it's time to catch that pesky critter.Date published: 2016-08-01

just received two traps. One works fine and the other one will not stay in the up locked and ready position? Any tricks on how to lock it in up position for use?I had 2 of 6 that are hard, but not impossible to set. I have found two things that help. 1. Jiggle (technical term) the release lever on the side while setting the trap. Or generally pulling up on the release lever will cause the latch just below it and on the inside of the plastic prong structure to "jut" out enough to catch the metal pan. 2. While doing #1 tilt the plunger handle to the opposite side from the trigger release and latch which causes the metal pan to push to the opposite side (the side with the trigger and latch) where the metal pan catches on the latch to arm the trap. I have found that 4 of my 6 arm on the first time pulling the plunger up and 2 do not. It has taken me up to a dozen attempts to arm the two more finicky traps but using this technique has always resulted in success.Date published: 2016-10-07
