Review RateMice can escape
Like a lot of the other reviews, I was having success, and now I'm not. I woke up this morning and heard a mouse in the trap, looked and confirmed. I was waiting for the sun to come up before I took it outside and in the hour I waited, the mouse escaped. Don't tell me to put glue traps inside. That has got to be the most cruel suggestion I have ever heard. If I wanted to torture them, I'd just buy glue traps to begin with. Now I have to figure why this trap that was successful suddenly isn't. (I highly doubt the mice are working in tandem. "Hey man, go get help, I'm stuck! Rally the troops!")Response From Victor®Kathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateMice are outsmarting the Tin Cat
Sadly, while my Tin Cat is functioning properly, the mice are eating the bait and escaping. I've had good success with the trap in the past, but no longer. I can only conclude the mice are simply flipping the see-saw ramp back down and leaving the way they came in. Seems a shame that I'm going to now have to use lethal traps to defeat such intelligent and resourceful creatures. I'm giving the Tin Cat two stars only because it initially worked so well. Re: the "glue traps inside the Tin Cat" solution offered above -- I'm supposed to pour olive oil over a bunch of trapped mice in hope that will free them? Hardly a practical plan.Response From Victor®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateWorked at first
Seemed to work at first, then the mice were able to escape. Not sure how or why this happened.Response From Victor®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
We apologize for this experience. To increase the effectiveness of the trap, we recommend using our pre-baited Victor® Glue Boards (Model BM309), which slide easily into the trap. The stickiness of the glue makes escape nearly impossible, but they can still be set free afterward by simply applying olive oil to the glue tray.

Review RateNot as good a trap as it appearsI must be dealing with a very smart mouse, because he goes in, eats the bait, and then gets out! I checked the mechanism over and over and can't figure it out.Response From Victor®Lauren : Consumer Relations RepresentativeWhen a trap enters this trap, the sea-saw mechanism at the doors will prevent the mouse from escaping. It is important to frequently monitor the traps so an animal is not trapped for longer periods of time with no food or water.
