Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap Eliminate your rodent problem quickly and effectively with the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap. From set-up and use through cleaning and maintenance, each zap will be a snap thanks to the easy-to-use design. The ultra-sized chamber is ideal for targeting larger rats that invade your property. This humane trap kills rodents using a high-voltage shock and since rats are able to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes to ensure higher kill rates. To get started, simply apply a high protein bait in the provided bait cup, place the trap in a location with high rodent activity and turn it on.Best used for:AtticsGaragesBasementsKitchensHigh-Voltage Shock Humanely Kills Rodents The Rat Zapper® Ultra is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when a rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, it steps on the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a continuous high-voltage shock for 2 minutes to effectively eliminate rat invader. This trap is capable of eliminating up to 60 rats per set of fully charged batteries (4 “D”).LED Light Alerts With the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap, simplifying your pest control routine is a breeze. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes red to indicate a kill. You’ll know when it’s time to empty your trap without having to check manually. Plus, the convenient LED light function will not only notify you of a catch, but it will also alert you when the trap’s battery is running low by rapidly flashing red.No-Touch Cleanup With the Rat Zapper® Ultra, cleanup is effortless! Unlike standard rat traps, you don’t have to touch or look at dead rodents. The rat is contained within the kill chamber, which hides it from sight, while the indicator light lets you know when it’s time to empty. After a kill, just tip the trap to discard the dead rodent into the trash without having to touch it.How to Set the Rat Zapper® Ultra For your convenience, the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap is very easy to use. Review RateWe wouldn't use anything else
Rat Zappers are great!!! I've used your electronic traps for years and have had nothing but good luck with them. We originally had five which an acquaintance borrowed never to be seen again. Then, this year a pack of the horrid little animals began attacking our tomatoes. We purchased two Zappers and placed them on our fence at night and brought them in, in the morning. We know they are for in-door use but we placed them and brought them in before the temperatures climbed and made sure they would not get wet. As always, they work great - six rats zapped. Yes, they are a little "pricy" but they are so much better than the regular old traps.
I was so excited when I read the abilities of your product (Rat Zapper). I ended up with two of them and a huge disappointment. I have faithfully and enthusiastically set them up time after time with no success at all. Very, very disappointed. The customer service was excellent unfortunately the product was not.Response From Victor®Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateNot very successful.
I purchased one zapper last year and after a few months, it stopped working, even with fresh batteries. I purchased another one this year, 2019, never worked. I'd like to see if hooking up to an AC adapter would make a difference. There's a place on the top that looks like where one would go in, but not sure. I had a small ground squirrel go in, get zapped a few times. And I thought it was dead. I went to dump it, and the thing ran away. Bait is always gone, but nothing in the trap. Light turns green ok. If red, the bait will be gone, but nothing in the trap. Frustrated.Response From Victor®Kathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Review Rate50/50 pleased
I have SIX of these now. My thoughts are "50/50"......YES they work as advertised ....after 3 months....only FOUR work (frustrating as not "much" to go "wrong")...yes I use new fresh batteries and yes, the contact plate is clean. I'd like to buy 3 more.....but....BUT...a, sitting on the fence....because A) obviously I don't want to buy "duds"....B) if the plates don't work, no where to get them fixed .Response From Victor®Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative

We're sorry to hear that you have not experienced the high level of success we typically see with this trap! Review RateGood product but lacks tips on usage, would be great if added.1st night caught a pack rat. So far so good. My complaint is the packaging contain no instructions. While simple enough to use some of the tips on this site arent included. You could print these on the inside of the packaging so not adding any more paper.
Good product though I'll buy more in the future.
Review RateNo luck.
Put out rat zappers, caught 1 chipmunk after 2 days. Been two weeks since then, red light comes on indicating success, no luck. Something is stealing the bait but somehow escaping. Way too much money for next to nothing.Response From Victor®Jules : Consumer Relations Representative
Hi Chip! This trap is designed to be used indoors, and is not recommended for catching chipmunks. There are a number of elements that may be decreasing the trap's efficacy, including the moisture in the air and the weather. We recommend trying a snap trap or a live trap in order to effectively trap chipmunks. For more information, give our Customer Relations Team a call at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867). Review RateUsed to be a great product - alas no longer works
Was a wonderful product with the prior company that owned it. No longer works at all. Called and was told the product was void if put under a house. That is not stated anywhere in the documentation and it used to work fine under our house - we live in the San Francisco Bay Area which has benign weather all year around. I guess if you cannot put it under a house in our area, you cannot put it under a house or in a barn or anywhere but in the house. Good luck with that if you have a dog or cat. The old company had a version that would only get set off by warm blooded creatures like a rat or mice. A slug or any creature will set this device off. When it goes off, I find insects or just slime in the unit. Very said - hate to write this review - I wish the old company had not sold it to these people.Response From Victor®Kathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateBest traps ever!!!!!
Had the spring traps out and only caught 1 mouse. As i work in camp wifey had to get neighbour to empty and reset it. Then they left trap alone for a month. Put out one of these electric traps and on the second day had a mouse. Decided to put 2 out and the next day they both caught one. It hasnt even been a week and caught 5 so far. Wife loves them cause she doesn't have to even look at the thing never mind touch it. Just look for red light grab the trap and tip it, dead mouse falls right out. Through a piece of dry dog food in and she good to go. These are the best traps going. Highly recommend. Never seen anything work better!!!
Rat Zapper® Ultra Trap - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where do I place the trap?
A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!
Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?
A: To bait the Rat Zapper®, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper® unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper®. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)
Q: How do I clean the trap?
A: Through repeat use and baiting, dust and debris can settle on the metal plates inside the trap, so we recommend that you clean your trap between each use. To clean the trap:
- Turn the unit to the off position and remove the batteries
- Use a hydrogen peroxide topical solution (available at most drug stores) and an old toothbrush to clean the inside of the chamber. Use a wire brush as needed to remove any corrosion, being careful not to be too vigorous. This could accidentally remove all of the protective zinc plating
- Allow the Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap to air dry completely
- Replace the batteries and turn the unit back on
Q: What type of batteries do I need?
A: The Rat Zapper® Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.
Q: What may affect the effectiveness of an electronic trap?
A: To ensure that your trap works when it is supposed to, keep the metal plates clean so the trap won’t trigger at the wrong time.
- Don’t over-bait, as excess food could drop onto the plates and activate the trap, after which any rodent may safely enter to remove the food.
- Make sure that the plates are clear of any debris, especially urine or hair from a recent kill that may interfere with the unit’s proper function. Remember, both plates need to be clean so that the electric circuit is made complete by the rodent stepping on both.
Q:What does it mean when the light blinks green? Red?
A: When you turn on the trap, the green light will stay on for 2 seconds to confirm the trap is on. Then the light is supposed to go off. The red light will blink to indicate a successful kill; however, in order to conserve battery, it only flashes about every 7 seconds. A rapid blinking red light indicates that the batteries are running low and will need to be replaced.
