Questions about Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap - 1 Trap

TAGS

Q.Is there a model with a ac adapter ?
A.

We do not offer any AC powered electronic mouse or rat traps at this time.

Q.which model has the infer red trigger, please
A.

We currently do not offer a trap with an infrared trigger.

Q.are the contact plates chrome plated, or tin'ed ?
A.

The metal plates within the Rat Zapper Ultra are zinc-plated.

Q.It is turned on and the green light indicates it is ready. I come back and it is blinking red. The trap is empty. It has happened several times with several traps. What does that indicate?
A.

The red flashing light is supposed to indicate a catch, but if you are finding that a number of false catches are occurring, it could mean that there is debris on your plates. To ensure that your trap works when it is supposed to, keep the metal plates clean so the trap won’t trigger at the wrong time. This also includes making sure that you are not over-baiting your trap, as excess bait could fall onto the plates and set them off, after which any rodent may safely enter to remove the food.

Q.Can this trap be used outdoors?
A.

This product is recommended for indoor use only.

Q.Does this trap support a wall plug? Our shop goes through a lot of batteries and we need a cord.
A.

This trap is battery-powered only.

Q.Will this work for smaller rats, mice, or other small rodents
A.

Yes.

Q.Does this come with the Rat Tale?
A.

No. The Rat Tale is an obsolete product.

Q.I am interested in the Rat Zapper and while watching your video, it mentions an optional LED extension so that you can identify if a rat has been zapped in hard to reach areas. Does it come with the extension as I cannot find a separate part number for this. Please let me know if it is available or if one is supplied in the product. Thank you!
A.

The extension mentioned in the video is a product called the Rat Tale that we no longer manufacture.

Q.I've been using my Rat Zapper Ultra for over a year and it has worked great. But, recently, the red light is flashing but no rat or rodent is inside of it. The bait is still there too. I have replaced the batteries but same problem. Is there something wrong with the Rat Zapper?
A.

When the trap is first turned on, does it start flashing red right away or does it flash green once? We would like to learn more about what is occurring and provide further assistance. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) for additional help.

Q.What does it mean when the green light blinks. This is not the green light that goes on once when you turn the thing on, but a steady blink every 5 seconds or so. Thank you in advance.
A.

We would like to learn more about what is occurring and provide additional assistance. For further help, please feel free to contact us directly. Our Consumer Relations Team can be reached at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867).

Q.Can the Rat Zapper be used outside in my garden? I've definitely got rats (see dropping, eating leaves off a particular plant) and have set snap traps with peanut butter bait but no takers. I thought I'd try the Zapper, but can it be used outdoors?
A.

This trap is designed for indoor use only. Check out these 15 Rat-Trapping Tips or contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) for further assistance.

Q.Can you clarify that the Rat Zapper only works once at a time? Found one dead mouse but the bait was gone which meant his buddies picked the bait up afterwards. Red light was blinking and turned off and turned on again. Thanks
A.

This trap does need to be powered off and on again after each catch.

Q.I bought zapper on Nov 21 and it killed seven mice over 48 hours, much appreciated. But the mice must have sent an email to their mice buddies since no new mice have been killed. I turned off the unit, put in fresh PB bait and set unit where mice are suspected to continue to feed. I did not turn on the unit and some critter entered the Zapper and took all the bait, as a test. I put in new PB bait and a tiny bit of PB on part of a cracker in the concrete in front of the Zapper and turned on the unit, got an OK red light. No new captures but something ate the PB cracker. I put out some traditional Victor traps in front of the Zapper and caught one. Do mice get trained not to go into the Zapper when it is on?
A.

If any bait is touching the metal plates, it could cause the unit to falsely activate or the rodent may not receive the full shock that is needed to kill them. We recommend cleaning the trap and using a toothpick amount of peanut butter on the back wall of the trap only. Also, we recommend using either the snap traps or the electronic traps. If both are used in the same room, the rodent will go to the trap with the most readily available bait first.
Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) for further assistance.

Q.How do I clean the plates of dyed urine and hair without damaging the electronics?
A.

To clean this trap: Turn the unit to the off position and remove the batteries. Using a hydrogen peroxid solution and an old toothbrush, gently scrub the metal plates free of debris. Allow the Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap to air dry completely. Replace the batteries and turn the unit back on.

Q.Why when I turn the rat zapper on does the red light come on, and not the green light?
A.

A red light blinking right after the trap is turned on indicates a low battery. Feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) for further assistance.

Q.my rat zapper, has a switch with a zero, and a 1, which is on and which is off
A.

When the power switch is in the "O" position, the trap is off. When the power switch is in the "I" position, the trap is on. When the trap is turned on, a green light should blink once indicating the trap is working properly.

Q.I want a zapper that is NOT battery powered but plugs in do you offer one
A.

We currently have only battery-operated Rat Zappers®.

Q.Big problem with red squirrels , once inside (corrected) but heavy outside destroying swing cushions and planters. Will the zapper work outside if set in dry, somewhat sheltered location out of the rain ? Thanks !
A.

In addition to not being protected against rain, if used outdoors the trap may be falsely triggered by dirt or leaves blowing inside, which is why we recommend these for indoor use only.

Q.How do you place bait into the Rat Zapper Ultra and Classic? Are there holes in the back like the black Electronic Rat Trap? Can the top be opened for placing bait or for cleaning?
A.

The top does not open. Place bait such as peanut butter in the back with a long instrument (spoon or Q-tip) to prevent your scent from getting on the food. Make sure the trap is turned off when baiting.

Q.What are the sizes of the Rat Zapper Ultra and Classic, and the black Electronic trap?
A.

Victor® Electronic Rat Trap (M240): 8.5 x 4 x 4.7
Rat Zapper® Classic Rat Trap (RZC001-4): 10.7 x 4 x 4.4
Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap (RZU001-4): 11.5 x 4 x 4.75

A.

We cannot guarantee that a squirrel will not get in, but these traps are only intended for indoor use.

Q.The green light comes on when turned on but we're not killing the mice. The bait is gone so we know the mice were in there. It's worked well until now. Could this be a sign it needs cleaning?

A.

This trap should be used in areas inaccessible to children or pets.

Q.I bought the rat trapper. It worked great with immediate results. Now however nothing works. The red and green lights don't come on. Battery terminals are clean and fresh batteries don't help. Is there something I can check on the unit?
A.

If the lights of this unit do not turn on with new batteries, please contact our Consumer Relations Team directly at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867).

A.

Q.we are thinking about purchasing and placing on shelving behind our fridge and gas stove I am curious if the electric current will mess with my appliances at all? Also curious if after the rats have been zapped is there a fowl smell from the shock?
A.

This is a self-contained product that runs on 4 D batteries.  The electric shock is delivered only to the plates inside the unit. We recommend checking the trap often, as a deceased animal can begin to smell quickly.

A.

If the bait is being taken without a catch, we recommend cleaning the trap to ensure that no bait or debris is on the floor of the trap. To do this, turn the trap off and remove the batteries. A.

Placing too much dry food inside the trap may cause a false trigger. We recommend placing one or two pieces of food inside a small plastic bottle cap and sliding it to the back of the trap.
