Description

Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap

If you're looking to get rid of one rat or several large rats, the Rat Zapper® Ultra will deliver years of dependable service. This electronic rat trap is humane, safe, and easy to use. From set-up and use through cleaning and maintenance, each zap will be a snap thanks to clear step-by-step instructions. Once the target enters the Ultra, two plates deliver a total of 8,000 volts for two minutes, ensuring high kill rates. And the "no touch" feature makes disposal a truly hands-off experience.

How It Works

The Rat Zapper® Ultra is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when a rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, the rat steps on the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a quick, humane 8,000 volt shock. Since rats are able to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes ensuring a high kill rate. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes red to indicate a kill. You can "zap" 60 rats with one set of 4 “D” batteries, which makes it an effective rat trap.

Features

Easy to Use

How easy are they to use? Very--and that's just one reason why they're so popular--just insert batteries, bait, place, turn it on and relax. First, insert 4 “D” batteries into the battery compartment. Using the entrance, bait the trap along the back wall using a small amount of peanut butter, dry pet food or nuts. Place the trap where you have seen signs of rodent activity or along the wall where rodents primarily travel. Turn on the Rat Zapper® Ultra. A green light will blink once indicating the trap is working properly.

Simple Setup

"Yuck"-Free Cleanup

The hands-free, "no touch, no view" disposal reduces the "yuck" factor of a common mouse and rat trap. Clean-up is easy and it can be reused indefinitely--your friends and family will want to borrow it for safe, humane rat elimination.

Safe and Sanitary

The Rat Zapper® Ultra is safe for use anywhere in the home. Built with high-quality electronics, recycled plastics, and recycled packaging, the Rat Zapper® Ultra is both effective and environmentally friendly. It is ideal for attics, garages, basements and sheds. While it's always wise to use caution around children and pets, there is no blood, mess, chemicals, or poisons with the Rat Zapper® Ultra.

It's a excellent way of trapping and disposing of rats. By Carol

I purchased 3 traps and so far have caught rats and mice in all three. My RV is in a fixed area in the woods. On one of my visits a rat had chewed some electrical wires on th outside. I placed 2 traps outside and 1 inside for safe measures and to my surprise it caught a mouse.

Had a major chipmunk problem. Killed 5 chipmunks and 1 mouse in first 3 days. Better than any other rodent product I have ever tried.

Thank you for the Rat Zapper! By Hoot

I had a pack rats and use several different traps. They were able to get out of all of them. They continued doing damage to my house, as I was unable to stop them. I tried rat poison, it doesn't work for pack rats. The Rat Zapper took care of the problem almost immediately. Thank you!

not for pack rats By no nick name

Kills mice. Does not kill pack rats. They get in and out when zapped. The red light goes on and the rats are gone. The pack rats in Oregon are very large so maybe the Ultra Zapper is not strong enough. Bought the 3 Pack. Would like my money back.

I have never had a more effective mouse/ rat trap By Big Matt

Our count as of today is 12 big fat rats and 8 mice. The zapper just works. I clean out the traps with every kill. I try to use a dry paper towel but sometimes it wont remove the fur. When I get a dead rat that has sat for more than 12 hours they tend to decompose in the trap. I then use plane water and a paper towel to clean the trap. IMPORTANT! I don't put water on the zapper. I get the paper towel damp and then wipe it out and then use a dry towel to make sure its dry. Then I let the trap sit for at least an hour. Its my experience that these traps work best when they are dry! :-)

50% successful on two traps purchased By Mark

I bought two of these Rat Zappers. One works great, but the other consistently fails to deliver a lethal shock--the animals that trip that one have managed to get away every time.

Response From Victor®
Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

Hello Mark,

We appreciate the time taken to provide this feedback and apologize for the experience.

For best results, we recommend cleaning the trap after each use, as debris or fluid from a kill could prevent the trap from operating properly. Our traps are covered by a one year replacement warranty.  Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) for additional assistance.

Q&A
Q.I want a zapper that is NOT battery powered but plugs in do you offer one
A.

We currently have only battery-operated Rat Zappers®.

Q.Big problem with red squirrels , once inside (corrected) but heavy outside destroying swing cushions and planters. Will the zapper work outside if set in dry, somewhat sheltered location out of the rain ? Thanks !
A.

In addition to not being protected against rain, if used outdoors the trap may be falsely triggered by dirt or leaves blowing inside, which is why we recommend these for indoor use only.

Q.How do you place bait into the Rat Zapper Ultra and Classic? Are there holes in the back like the black Electronic Rat Trap? Can the top be opened for placing bait or for cleaning?
A.

The top does not open. Place bait such as peanut butter in the back with a long instrument (spoon or Q-tip) to prevent your scent from getting on the food. Make sure the trap is turned off when baiting.

FAQs

Rat Zapper® Ultra Trap - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where do I place the trap?

A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!

Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?

A: To bait the Rat Zapper®, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper® unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper®. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)

Q: What type of batteries do I need?

A: The Rat Zapper® Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.

Q: What may affect the effectiveness of an electronic trap?

A: To ensure that your trap works when it is supposed to, keep the metal plates clean so the trap won’t trigger at the wrong time.

  • Don’t over-bait, as excess food could drop onto the plates and activate the trap, after which any rodent may safely enter to remove the food.
  • Make sure that the plates are clear of any debris, especially urine or hair from a recent kill that may interfere with the unit’s proper function. Remember, both plates need to be clean so that the electric circuit is made complete by the rodent stepping on both.

Q:What does it mean when the light blinks green? Red?

A: When you turn on the trap, the green light will stay on for 2 seconds to confirm the trap is on. Then the light is supposed to go off. The green light will also blink to indicate a successful kill; however, in order to conserve battery, it only flashes about every 7 seconds.  A blinking red light indicates that the batteries are running low and will need to be replaced.
