Description
Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap Eliminate your rodent problem quickly and effectively with the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap. From set-up and use through cleaning and maintenance, each zap will be a snap thanks to the easy-to-use design. The ultra-sized chamber is ideal for targeting larger rats that invade your property. This humane trap kills rodents using a high-voltage shock and since rats are able to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes to ensure higher kill rates. High Voltage Shock
High-Voltage Shock Humanely Kills Rodents The Rat Zapper® Ultra is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when a rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, it steps on the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a continuous high-voltage shock for 2 minutes to effectively eliminate rat invader. This trap is capable of eliminating up to 60 rats per set of fully charged batteries (4 “D”).
LED Light Alerts With the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap, simplifying your pest control routine is a breeze. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes red to indicate a kill. You’ll know when it’s time to empty your trap without having to check manually. Plus, the convenient LED light function will not only notify you of a catch, but it will also alert you when the trap’s battery is running low by rapidly flashing red.

No Touch Cleanup
No-Touch Cleanup With the Rat Zapper® Ultra, cleanup is effortless! Unlike standard rat traps, you don’t have to touch or look at dead rodents. The rat is contained within the kill chamber, which hides it from sight, while the indicator light lets you know when it’s time to empty. After a kill, just tip the trap to discard the dead rodent into the trash without having to touch it.

How to Set the Rat Zapper® Ultra For your convenience, the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap is very easy to use. Get your trap setup by following these four simple steps:.
  1. Add Bait - Apply a small amount of high-protein bait, such as peanut butter, to the back wall of the trap away from the metal plates using a Q-tip or other tool to avoid transferring your scent.
  2. Insert Batteries - Remove the battery cover. Insert 4 “D” batteries into the battery compartment before replacing the cover.
  3. Place the Trap - Place the trap on a flat surface against a wall where you have seen signs of rodent activity. The trap should be placed lengthwise with the entrance nearest to the wall.
  4. Turn On - Activate by flipping the switch to the “ON” position. A green light will blink once to indicate the trap is functioning properly.

Flashing red light only. Stays on wearing down batteries By Lynn

My daughter bought this trap for me. We put the batteries in the unit. There is only a continuously flashing red light. No green light indicator as described. RED Light stays on even with unit turned off.

5 days and happy! By Claude Bergeron

Bought mine at Canadian Tire and installed it in the attic. 5 field mouse in 5 days! Great product except it would be great with a power pack also giving you the choice for your needs (batteries and pack). For the garage, the pack would be awsome.

Great trap! By Kat

We accidentally left a cabin door open and two pack rats were delighted to come inside. Bingo! The first night I caught one, the second night I caught another one. Then I caught two mice and now the cabin is critter free! The trap works like a charm! Thanks

Sort of works By reh

got one rat first night, then only frogs and slugs. 2 traps in various locations so either no more rats in the world or they got smart enough to avoid them.

Verdict still out but hopeful By reh

Verdict still out. I was hopeful when I got a young rat first night, so the devices do work. However, after having 2 traps deployed for the better part of 3 weeks, all I have so far is 5 frogs and a slug.

Worked good for 2 years - even kept grass snakes away By liz

I purchased 3 and 1 failed and I returned it and the company sent a new one. They last honestly about 2 years and killed a lot of rodents. I did not know about the scent of a human being transferred to the bait so I am happy they redesigned with a bait door and cup on the new ones. I had them in a damp basement and in an outside garage and still killed in the winter. The rats come in for grain and actually dug up through the old cement floor under a lawn mower deck. Pretty soon after the trap I was getting hits every other day of mice, moles and chipmunks. Finally the rats were killed and no more rats. I got to get 3 more because the grass snakes are now looking for the mice. The lack of mice kept the grass snakes away for 2 years. Added benefit. Would like to see a 3 pack deal under $100 like before.

Works well By Rob

This product performed as advertised. I don't have rats but got it for squirrels that have been damaging the window frames of the house. It took a couple of days for them to get used to it but easily took the bait and were zapped. Kills were quick and humane. It's easy to dump the animal out and reset it. Works on mice and chipmunks as well. Very pleased with the performance to date.

It is important to remember to clean the trap after each kill. To do so, turn the trap off, remove the batteries and clean the metal plates with a hydrogen peroxide solution. After it has dried, it can be baited with a small (pea size) amount of peanut butter on the back wall, the batteries re-inserted and the trap turned back on.

We apologize for this experience and hope this information was helpful! Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) with any questions or for additional assistance.

Q&A
Q.Does this come with the Rat Tale?
A.

No. The Rat Tale is an obsolete product.

Q.I am interested in the Rat Zapper and while watching your video, it mentions an optional LED extension so that you can identify if a rat has been zapped in hard to reach areas. Does it come with the extension as I cannot find a separate part number for this. Please let me know if it is available or if one is supplied in the product. Thank you!
A.

The extension mentioned in the video is a product called the Rat Tale that we no longer manufacture.

Q.I've been using my Rat Zapper Ultra for over a year and it has worked great. But, recently, the red light is flashing but no rat or rodent is inside of it. The bait is still there too. I have replaced the batteries but same problem. Is there something wrong with the Rat Zapper?
A.

When the trap is first turned on, does it start flashing red right away or does it flash green once? We would like to learn more about what is occurring and provide further assistance. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) for additional help.

FAQs

Rat Zapper® Ultra Trap - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where do I place the trap?

A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!

Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?

A: To bait the Rat Zapper®, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper® unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper®. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)

Q: How do I clean the trap?

A: Through repeat use and baiting, dust and debris can settle on the metal plates inside the trap, so we recommend that you clean your trap between each use. To clean the trap:

  • Turn the unit to the off position and remove the batteries
  • Use a hydrogen peroxide topical solution (available at most drug stores) and an old toothbrush to clean the inside of the chamber. Use a wire brush as needed to remove any corrosion, being careful not to be too vigorous. This could accidentally remove all of the protective zinc plating
  • Allow the Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap to air dry completely
  • Replace the batteries and turn the unit back on

Q: What type of batteries do I need?

A: The Rat Zapper® Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.

Q: What may affect the effectiveness of an electronic trap?

A: To ensure that your trap works when it is supposed to, keep the metal plates clean so the trap won’t trigger at the wrong time.

  • Don’t over-bait, as excess food could drop onto the plates and activate the trap, after which any rodent may safely enter to remove the food.
  • Make sure that the plates are clear of any debris, especially urine or hair from a recent kill that may interfere with the unit’s proper function. Remember, both plates need to be clean so that the electric circuit is made complete by the rodent stepping on both.

Q:What does it mean when the light blinks green? Red?

A: When you turn on the trap, the green light will stay on for 2 seconds to confirm the trap is on. Then the light is supposed to go off. The red light will blink to indicate a successful kill; however, in order to conserve battery, it only flashes about every 7 seconds.  A rapid blinking red light indicates that the batteries are running low and will need to be replaced.
