If you're looking to get rid of one rat or several large rats, the Rat Zapper® Ultra will deliver years of dependable service. This electronic rat trap is humane, safe, and easy to use. From set-up and use through cleaning and maintenance, each zap will be a snap thanks to clear step-by-step instructions. Once the target enters the Ultra, two plates deliver a total of 8,000 volts for two minutes, ensuring high kill rates. And the "no touch" feature makes disposal a truly hands-off experience. Includes FREE Rat Tale remote indicator light that flashes up to 20 days when the Rat Zapper® has a kill.

How It Works

The Rat Zapper® Ultra is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when a rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, the rat steps on the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a quick, humane 8,000 volt shock. Since rats are able to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes ensuring a high kill rate. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes red to indicate a kill. You can "zap" 60 rats with one set of 4 “D” batteries, which makes it an effective rat trap.

Features

Easy to Use

How easy are they to use? Very--and that's just one reason why they're so popular--just insert batteries, bait, place, turn it on and relax. First, insert 4 “D” batteries into the battery compartment. Using the entrance, bait the trap along the back wall using a small amount of peanut butter, dry pet food or nuts. Place the trap where you have seen signs of rodent activity or along the wall where rodents primarily travel. Turn on the Rat Zapper® Ultra. A green light will blink once indicating the trap is working properly.

Simple Setup

"Yuck"-Free Cleanup

The hands-free, "no touch, no view" disposal reduces the "yuck" factor of a common mouse and rat trap. Clean-up is easy and it can be reused indefinitely--your friends and family will want to borrow it for safe, humane rat elimination.

Safe and Sanitary

The Rat Zapper® Ultra is safe for use anywhere in the home. Built with high-quality electronics, recycled plastics, and recycled packaging, the Rat Zapper® Ultra is both effective and environmentally friendly. It is ideal for attics, garages, basements and sheds. While it's always wise to use caution around children and pets, there is no blood, mess, chemicals, or poisons with the Rat Zapper® Ultra.

Works but batteries do not last By robotnerd
I like that the zapper eliminates rats as humanely as possible, but the batteries do not last as advertised. Mine took care of one rat in my attic, then a few days later misfired on another rat (who's been avoiding it carefully ever since), and then would not reset again less than a month later. So 60 kills or 2 years standby is very misleading. I used brand new, brand name, alkaline batteries.
This product would be much better if it had the option to run on a rechargeable pack, maybe using a couple of 18650 lithium cells.
ps, the rat-tale is a must have for attic use!

Heebie jeebies By Raye
I bought this a few weeks ago after finding a dead rat in my spare closed off bathroom.
I freaked out and got hysterical and went on a mission to find out if there were more. I ordered this device and baited it and was stoked to rid myself of this nightmare. Nothing happenned for weeks. I thought maybe there were no more but then i started finding evidence. I moved it all over my house and even contacted victor to see what I was doing wrong. 4 days ago I found the entrance. A hole in my wall behind my fridge. I placed the trap directly in front of the hole. I've caught 2 in 2 nights.
Super easy disposal and I don't know what I would do without this device because I am absolutely disgusted by rats and I'd never be able to handle glue or snap. Don't even have to see the body but somehow I always look to see what I caught. Reset now and hoping to go 3 for 3.
I'm even considering ordering more because I'm so mortified there's rats in my home

Does not work in higher humidity By Malc
Works well in dry summer conditions but not when humidity rises. Had it in boat on trailer and in dry, covered shed but red light keeps flashing even when no kills. New batteries too. Disappointing as this is the time rats want to nest indoors. Back to using plastic snaptrap.

We appreciate the time taken to provide this feedback and apologize for the experience.

Since this product is an electronic device, we recommend using it indoors in a climate controlled environment. Though it is covered in the shed or boat, outdoor environments such as high humidity can affect the electronics.

Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) for additional assistance.

Thank you for providing your feedback. If the rat has yet to find the trap, we recommend placing the trap against a wall in an area that is known for rodent activity. Peanut butter is a great bait that rats and mice tend to be attracted to. Place a very small amount of bait on the back wall only.

Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) for further assistance.

Rat Zapper with Rat Tale By keewee
There are only 2 things (in my opinion) that you could do to improve this item. 1. Make it waterproof and 2. Paint Hotel California along the side :) Absolutely love this item, actually is my fourth one in about 10 years but the other 3 bit the dust due to me either leaving them outside when it rained (there's that waterproof thing again) or dropping it. Love the rat tale especially. LONG LIVE RAT ZAPPER!!

Zaps more than rats! By Happy customer
My neighborhood had a mouse, chipmunk, and squirrel problem. 10 mice, 4 chipmunks, and 6 squirrels later after 3 weeks and the gardens in the neighborhood are beginning to recover.

Q&A
Q.what is the best way to clean the plate of hair & urine?
A.

Be sure to turn off the trap and remove the batteries before cleaning. We recommend using a towel with water and unscented dish soap to clean the plates. We also suggest soaking the base of the trap in a tub with 1" of water and unscented dish soap. For this method, be sure not to get the top of the trap wet where the electrical components are. Make sure the trap is completely dry before turning back on.

Q.will it kill chipmonks ?
A.

The RAT ZAPPER® ULTRA is recommended for use against rats and mice only.

Q.Red light illuminates but nothing in trap. This occurs continuosly. Why?
A.

A blinking red light indicates that the batteries are running low and will need to be replaced. The green light will blink to indicate a successful kill; however, in order to conserve battery, it only flashes about every 7 seconds.

FAQs

Rat Zapper® Ultra Trap - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where do I place the trap?

A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!

Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?

A: To bait the Rat Zapper®, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper® unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper®. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)

Q: What type of batteries do I need?

A: The Rat Zapper® Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.

Q: What may affect the effectiveness of an electronic trap?

A: To ensure that your trap works when it is supposed to, keep the metal plates clean so the trap won’t trigger at the wrong time.

  • Don’t over-bait, as excess food could drop onto the plates and activate the trap, after which any rodent may safely enter to remove the food.
  • Make sure that the plates are clear of any debris, especially urine or hair from a recent kill that may interfere with the unit’s proper function. Remember, both plates need to be clean so that the electric circuit is made complete by the rodent stepping on both.

Q:What does it mean when the light blinks green? Red?

A: When you turn on the trap, the green light will stay on for 2 seconds to confirm the trap is on. Then the light is supposed to go off. The green light will also blink to indicate a successful kill; however, in order to conserve battery, it only flashes about every 7 seconds.  A blinking red light indicates that the batteries are running low and will need to be replaced.
