If you're looking to get rid of one rat or several large rats, the Rat Zapper® Ultra will deliver years of dependable service. This electronic rat trap is humane, safe, and easy to use. How It Works

The Rat Zapper® Ultra is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when the rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, the rat steps onto the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a quick, humane 8,000 volt shock. Since rats have the ability to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes ensuring a high kill rate. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes red to indicate a kill. You can "zap" 60 rats with one set of 4 “D” batteries, which makes it an effective rat trap.

Features

Easy to Use

How easy are they to use? Very--and that's just one reason why they're so popular--just insert batteries, bait, place, turn it on and relax. First, insert 4 “D” batteries into the battery compartment. Using the entrance, bait the trap along the back wall using a small amount of peanut butter, dry pet food or nuts. Place the trap where you have seen signs of rodent activity or along the wall where rodents primarily travel. Turn on the Rat Zapper® Ultra. A red light will blink once indicating the trap is working properly.

Simple Setup

"Yuck"-Free Cleanup

The hands-free, "no touch, no view" disposal reduces the "yuck" factor of a common mouse and rat trap. Clean-up is easy and it can be reused indefinitely--your friends and family will want to borrow it for safe, humane rat elimination.

Safe and Sanitary

The Rat Zapper® Ultra is safe for use anywhere in the home. Built with high-quality electronics, recycled plastics, and recycled packaging, the Rat Zapper® Ultra is both effective and environmentally friendly. It is ideal for attics, garages, basements and sheds. While it's always wise to use caution around children and pets, there is no blood, mess, chemicals, or poisons with the Rat Zapper® Ultra.

Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap - FREE Rat Tale - 1 Trap is rated 4.678571428571429 out of 5 by 140.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from First time with the electronic traps I bought these about tw weeks ago. So far I've dispatched three mices. Set up is a snap (sorry), the On-Off button is easy to reach, the Green "on" and the red "Got one" lights are plenty bright. Wife still won't touch it (it's a mouse thing) but that's her. Initially I worried the late mouse might leave post mortem juices to prevent him from 'sliding right out'. Nope. Mr. Ex Mouse slides straight into a plastic bag. No icky fluids behind. I have a box of food handlers plastic gloves (500 for not much money) to wear when handling the traps to keep my scent from discouraging Minnie&Micky from visiting. Baiting the trap and placing it where it needs to be is easier than the wooden snap (watch the fingers) traps. Put these along the trails the rodents use. Kinda pricey but waaaay less icky for clean up. Oughta last for a few years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oh Boy!! These things work. The only reason I rated them with five stars is because there are not six available

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very easy to use I bought these traps over a month ago and within a few days I had a mouse in a trap to date I have killed a total of 15 mice I had these traps in three different sheds the mise had eaten the wires on my leaf blower and other equipment which was a lot more in cost then the traps. I am so pleased with the Victor electronic traps that I bought the thee pack of the small spouse traps. I am getting ready for the fall and winter when rats and mice get into your home and car engines and heater fans which had cost me $100. to get the nest out. Thank you Victor for a product that really works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great success rate Let's just say this. I got these three new Rat Zappers three days ago and have caught 8 rats, a mouse and even a very large cockroach. We have used these various products over the years and are always pleased. Have even caught two mongoose! They do die after awhile. I think our humid environment with a lot of sulphur dioxide in the air from nearby volcanoes is the culprit. Cleaning them as per instructions is often a fix but eventually we lose them - usually due to corrision in the wires and battery packs. This time we also got the Rat Tail and they are awesome as they can be positioned to be easily seen. No more climbing in the attic or garage rafters to check! We have a place where the rats climb up a batten to the roof. I built a little shelf halfway up and put a Rat Zapper there and the rats actually stop halfway up to kill themselves. Got 4 last week with our old blue model before these arrived!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Success right away! I bought this to "humanely" remove a rat that my wife and kids were starting to name. I needed to find a way to quietly remove this pest while keeping it out of sight from my girls and dogs. No sense traumatizing my sensitive girls with a barbaric sight of a snap trap or the thought of me poisoning the poor thing and not know where it ended up. I admit that I installed weak batteries and my first evening of sunflower seeds were eaten inside the trap. But that helped the vermin to feel safe to return the next night. With fresh batteries and fresh seeds, I had ushered that rat into his next adventure within a couple of hours. I checked the trap right before bed and the rat tail lights were flashing. Sure enough, I was able to dispose of it no muss no fuss. I have to admit I took a peak at the rat and he looked peaceful, in fact I think it happened so fast he didn't even close his eyes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wish the rats weren't getting so smart. Bought the 3-pack to increase my no. of captures. It's been a week now and no luck. I see the droppings nearby, so I know that they're still here. I've used these zappers before, and they've always done their job. I'm patient. Actually, I'm going to refresh the bait. I'm using peanut butter and dried dog food. The rats must be getting smarter this year!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great! I bought this to supplement the snap traps I have been using. The first time I used the Rat Zapper Ultra I caught a rat! Since then I have caught several more. The trap is easy to bait and more importantly is easy to empty.

Do I need to clean the inside of the trap after each kill ?  If so, in what manner ?  Do I wipe it down with a wet and soapy cloth and gloves on ?  or ?

Asked by: KimH
We do recommend that the trap be cleaned after each kill. To clean, turn off the trap and remove the batteries. Next, wipe down the bottom with a damp rag or towel. Do not use soap, as the scent can actually repel them away from going in the trap. Lastly, allow the trap to air dry. We would recommend wearing gloves to limit the amount of human scent.

We recently received 3 ultra rat zappers. Can we use rechargeable alkaline batteries in them? If not, why don't you specifically say this? (We put re-chargeables in them, but their red lights blink when turned on.)

Asked by: Cattail
The use of rechargeable batteries is not recommended with this trap, we apologize.

FAQs

Rat Zapper® Ultra Trap - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where do I place the trap?

A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!

Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?

A: To bait the Rat Zapper®, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper® unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper®. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)

Q: What type of batteries do I need?

A: The Rat Zapper® Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.
