Description
Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap Eliminate your rodent problem quickly and effectively with the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap. From set-up and use through cleaning and maintenance, each zap will be a snap thanks to the easy-to-use design. The ultra-sized chamber is ideal for targeting larger rats that invade your property. This humane trap kills rodents using a high-voltage shock and since rats are able to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes to ensure higher kill rates. To get started, simply apply a high protein bait in the provided bait cup, place the trap in an indoor location with high rodent activity and turn it on.

High Voltage Shock
High-Voltage Shock Humanely Kills Rodents The Rat Zapper® Ultra is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when a rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, it steps on the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a continuous high-voltage shock for 2 minutes to effectively eliminate rat invader. This trap is capable of eliminating up to 60 rats per set of fully charged batteries (4 “D”).
LED Light Alerts With the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap, simplifying your pest control routine is a breeze. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes red to indicate a kill. You’ll know when it’s time to empty your trap without having to check manually. Plus, the convenient LED light function will not only notify you of a catch, but it will also alert you when the trap’s battery is running low by rapidly flashing red.

No Touch Cleanup
No-Touch Cleanup With the Rat Zapper® Ultra, cleanup is effortless! Unlike standard rat traps, you don’t have to touch or look at dead rodents. The rat is contained within the kill chamber, which hides it from sight, while the indicator light lets you know when it’s time to empty. After a kill, just tip the trap to discard the dead rodent into the trash without having to touch it.

How to Set the Rat Zapper® Ultra For your convenience, the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap is very easy to use. Get your trap setup by following these four simple steps:
  1. Add Bait - Apply a small amount of high-protein bait, such as peanut butter, to the back wall of the trap away from the metal plates using a Q-tip or other tool to avoid transferring your scent.
  2. Insert Batteries - Remove the battery cover. Insert 4 “D” batteries into the battery compartment before replacing the cover.
  3. Place the Trap - Place the trap on a flat surface against a wall where you have seen signs of rodent activity. The trap should be placed lengthwise with the entrance nearest to the wall.
  4. Turn On - Activate by flipping the switch to the “ON” position. A green light will blink once to indicate the trap is functioning properly.

13 rats and a large cockroach By Ratfree_in_HI
Over the last year we have caught/killed 13 rats. Always with dry dog food, and not once was there a false alarm. We did manage to catch an oddball large cockroach, which wasn't actually killed by the trap, even though it received the shock.

We live in an old house, with lots of spaces for rodents to enter, and living on O`ahu there are plenty of rodents!

While we managed to kill a few rats with traditional snap traps and glue traps, they never managed to get rid of our problem. This electric trap was the best solution.

Follow the instructions for keeping your scent off it, and it works better than anything else. Ours is now on permanent duty outside the pantry.

Don't Waste Your MONEY!!!! By WasteofMoney
Well, if costing $15 per rat to kill they are a good product. I ordered 2. They killed 4 rats each. No more kills. Thought battery needed changing. No more rats killed even with new batteries. I absolutely would not recommend this product. Yes, I moved around to different places. Feel like a real waste of money. And NO, I can't use poison, I have dogs. I need safe for pet kill system....... this isn't it!!!

Works a charm By maukaJo

Can’t tell you how many rats these traps (and the rat Zapper classic) have caught over the years! I just clean them every few kills. For the squeamish like me, they are never gross, just rat footprints and bait bits. We bait with dry dog food which our rats seem to love. We put a security cam on the trap so we can see if it has caught and get the rat out for multiple kills in a night. Last night there was a second rat climbing over the dead one for the remaining bait. That solves the mystery of how the rat was dead but the bait was gone because usually they don’t get further than a nibble. These are rated indoors but I use in sheds and shops and covered outdoor areas on our macadamia nut orchard. My only complaint it the after awhile, they just stop working. Frustrating because they are not cheap. Recently one went from 3 kills a night to a rat feeding station and no kills. It’s like the rats were wearing insulated boots, even with new batteries. Still giving 5 stars because they do work amazing.

The Most Efficient Cleanest Dependable Trap on the Market By Pump Guy

This is the best trap I have ever used. We raise cattle so there are always problems with mice and rats. They all seem to be immuned to the baits they eat, because it does nothing. However the Rat Zapper I have had it for two years and it has killed numerous mice and around 15 rats. One of the rats was so big it could not even fit inside the trap. I measured its body and it was 10.5" and weighed a little over a pound (HUGE FREAKING RAT). I would recommend this trap to anyone. To be honest if it only lasted 2 years and killed 20 rats/mice in that time frame I would still give it 4 stars. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because of the battery useage and I use Energizer. It will not last as long as the factory says, but still worth every penny. Great job Victor!

Fantastic By jfive

Best way to control mice. Easy and clean. I have one outside under cover that got 22 mice this Fall before they moved in! Would be nice to see an adapter as it does go through batteries. Did learn high quality batteries are a must or unit doesn't work

Buyer beware! By Old4rd

Mine is about 3 yrs. old and only used it during the cold months in my dry unheated pole barn. The Rat Zapper was always kept dry and cleaned per instructions. I had three kills of mice this 2019 Fall, and now have had 4 false alerts. Have cleaned 2x's and replaced batteries to be sure. Unit will indicate it is "armed and ready", but rodent will trip the alerting light and for 4x's now there has been no kill and trap bait gone. I honestly liked the trap, but after reading numerous similar reviews and the fact that it is not working, I will not purchase another.

Response From Victor®
Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative

Thank you for sharing this recent experience. If the light is flashing once when turned on, this indicates that the unit is ready for a catch. Bait being stolen could be due to ants or other smaller rodents entering the trap and not being fully caught by the trap when it triggers. This trap is intended for catching rats. If smaller rodents, such as mice, enter the trap, there is a chance that they may not contact the metal plates fully to receive the shock.

deader than a doornail By brisbee

if I had rated your product a few days ago, it would have been 1 star. I baited the Zapper with bread and peanut butter, and after a couple of days, the light was blinking, and I said "oh boy" I got one, however the bait was gone and no rat inside. Baited it again and waited a few more days, and this time when the light flashed, it was not a false alarm. It was a big one, quite dead. I am very happy right now, and hope to catch some more.

Q&A
Q.Can you tell me where your Rat Zapper Ultra is made? They work great and we want to buy a couple more but we're no longer purchasing anything made in China. Thanks for your help.
A.

This trap is made in Vietnam.

Q.Can this be placed in an attic on top of insulation or wood joist? There is a warning on your website 'Do not place trap near areas containing flammable vapors, liquids, or dry combustible solids, or in areas where these objects are stored.' If not, what can the unit be placed on to avoid fire in an attic?
A.

The trap can be used in the attic as long as it they are kept away from insulations and other flamable items.

Q.Is it safe to place the rat zapper next to my gas water heater? The water heater is in a closet in the garage (per code) and I have rats coming in to get warm. Is there any danger with the 8000 volts and the gas appliance?
A.
We do not recommend placing our electronic rodent traps directly near flammable items, including gas water heaters.

FAQs

Rat Zapper® Ultra Trap - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where do I place the trap?

A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!

Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?

A: To bait the Rat Zapper®, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper® unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper®. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)

Q: How do I clean the trap?

A: Through repeat use and baiting, dust and debris can settle on the metal plates inside the trap, so we recommend that you clean your trap between each use. To clean the trap:

  • Turn the unit to the off position and remove the batteries
  • Use a hydrogen peroxide topical solution (available at most drug stores) and an old toothbrush to clean the inside of the chamber. Use a wire brush as needed to remove any corrosion, being careful not to be too vigorous. This could accidentally remove all of the protective zinc plating
  • Allow the Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap to air dry completely
  • Replace the batteries and turn the unit back on

Q: What type of batteries do I need?

A: The Rat Zapper® Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.

Q: What may affect the effectiveness of an electronic trap?

A: To ensure that your trap works when it is supposed to, keep the metal plates clean so the trap won’t trigger at the wrong time.

  • Don’t over-bait, as excess food could drop onto the plates and activate the trap, after which any rodent may safely enter to remove the food.
  • Make sure that the plates are clear of any debris, especially urine or hair from a recent kill that may interfere with the unit’s proper function. Remember, both plates need to be clean so that the electric circuit is made complete by the rodent stepping on both.

Q:What does it mean when the light blinks green? Red?

A: When you turn on the trap, the green light will stay on for 2 seconds to confirm the trap is on. Then the light is supposed to go off. The red light will blink to indicate a successful kill; however, in order to conserve battery, it only flashes about every 7 seconds.  A rapid blinking red light indicates that the batteries are running low and will need to be replaced.
