Description
Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap Eliminate your rodent problem quickly and effectively with the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap. From set-up and use through cleaning and maintenance, each zap will be a snap thanks to the easy-to-use design. The ultra-sized chamber is ideal for targeting larger rats that invade your property. This humane trap kills rodents using a high-voltage shock and since rats are able to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes to ensure higher kill rates. To get started, simply apply a high protein bait in the provided bait cup, place the trap in a location with high rodent activity and turn it on.

High Voltage Shock
High-Voltage Shock Humanely Kills Rodents The Rat Zapper® Ultra is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when a rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, it steps on the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a continuous high-voltage shock for 2 minutes to effectively eliminate rat invader. This trap is capable of eliminating up to 60 rats per set of fully charged batteries (4 “D”).
LED Light Alerts With the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap, simplifying your pest control routine is a breeze. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes red to indicate a kill. You’ll know when it’s time to empty your trap without having to check manually. Plus, the convenient LED light function will not only notify you of a catch, but it will also alert you when the trap’s battery is running low by rapidly flashing red.

No Touch Cleanup
No-Touch Cleanup With the Rat Zapper® Ultra, cleanup is effortless! Unlike standard rat traps, you don’t have to touch or look at dead rodents. The rat is contained within the kill chamber, which hides it from sight, while the indicator light lets you know when it’s time to empty. After a kill, just tip the trap to discard the dead rodent into the trash without having to touch it.

How to Set the Rat Zapper® Ultra For your convenience, the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap is very easy to use. Get your trap setup by following these four simple steps:
  1. Add Bait - Apply a small amount of high-protein bait, such as peanut butter, to the back wall of the trap away from the metal plates using a Q-tip or other tool to avoid transferring your scent.
  2. Insert Batteries - Remove the battery cover. Insert 4 “D” batteries into the battery compartment before replacing the cover.
  3. Place the Trap - Place the trap on a flat surface against a wall where you have seen signs of rodent activity. The trap should be placed lengthwise with the entrance nearest to the wall.
  4. Turn On - Activate by flipping the switch to the “ON” position. A green light will blink once to indicate the trap is functioning properly.

A more "modern" way of looking like you're doing something about rats, but not effective. By The Landlady

I got this kind of. trap because it avoided an "ick" factor associated with snap traps. But it did not catch ANY Rats, and in the same time period I caught two with snap traps (Victor brand!). So I will not recommend them.

Response From Victor®
Susan : Consumer Relations Representative

We are sorry you didn't have better results! When they have multiple options, rodents will often go for the easiest meal, such as bait out in the open on a snap trap. To take full advantage of this trap, we recommend removing any other traps from the area.

Best Regards,

Susan

Huge $. 3 units don’t work By None

Installed fresh batteries. Switched on -off. Saw green light. Red light. Baited with peanut butter Set in place. Armed units. All three units had some life form enter-touch bait No kill ... evidence of bait being touched. One unit does not show on -off. Hugely hugely disappointing.

Response From Victor®
Kathryn : Consumer Relations Representative

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry to hear that bait was stolen without a catch. This can occur if the animal is not large enough to touch two plates at once. My favorite By Mary Beth

I've used these for 10+ years. I get tired of all of them not living up to the amount of rats they should catch. I suppose the device counts flies! Last year I tried 2 brands of "catch & Release" devices and they were a joke. Poor mice with such a miserable death! So I am back with the "most humane"....fast and easy clean up Rat Zapper Ultra. My guests get a tasty last meal..if they are fast enough! I make organic roasted Almond butter and use Organic Maple Syrup to thin just enough to create little round balls to munch.

So so By Ricklesss

So I notice there is a power jack outlet on the top near the LED indicators. There should be a plug in to the wall transformer to eliminate the need to buy so many D batteries. What is this jack for, and why I should it. It mentioned in the instructions? Thanks.

Response From Victor®
Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative

Thank you for sharing this feedback. The plug is for a legacy item (the Rat Tale) that is no longer manufactured. As the production of the trap has not changed, the plug has not been removed. We appreciate this feedback regarding making it AC powered.

One Great trap, and one lemon. By Grimm Reaper

I've been mostly happy with my Rat Zappers. I purchased one and was so happy with it I purchased another. The first one is still working well, but the second one no longer works after only a few kills. When turned on it flashes a continuous red light, even after changing batteries. The first one, however is still going strong. I estimate it had killed about 15-20 mice and several rats, all on peanut butter. I'd give it 5 stars but for the rotten luck with the second unit which I'm going to return--it's only 2 months old and hasn't worked for a month.

Too much $ for too little success By charastev

I ordered a 3 pack in July 2020. In total, the 3 have caught a total of 5 rodents and none of them work any longer. Truthfully, none of them have worked for over a month (currently October 2020). In fairness, the one caught a pack rat so large that the unit cannot be cleaned without destroying it. The thing's butt and tail were hanging out the back. The other two were cleaned using the company's instructions and have only caught 2 mice each. Neither of those two units work anymore.

Response From Victor®
Brandon : Consumer Relations Representative

Any rats larger then the kill chamber could cause destruction, espeically if it cannot be cleaned properly. You can try to change location of traps or changing the bait if they are not luring any rats in.

With patience and the correct bait, the trap is effective. By no name

Took two weeks to catch one of the rats in my back fence. Was getting discouraged esp when red light flashing and no rat. Peanut butter not effective. Brazil nut and grape caught it. Can the traps be out in the rain?

Response From Victor®
Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative

Thank you for this feedback. We're glad to hear that the rodent was caught. Our electronic traps are recommended for indoor use only.

Q&A
Q.Can I use 10,000mAh Ni-Mh rechargeable batteries? I refuse to use Alkaline batteries as they must be discarded after losing their charge. Also over a period of use they gradually fall-off so they need to be discarded long before they would be "dead"!
A.

We do not recommend the use of rechargeable batteries in our traps.

Q.do you still carry the rat rale remote that can be used with the rat zapper?
A.

We are no longer manufacturing accessories for the Rat Zappers.

Q.What about pets? Is the family cat or dog going to go in there and get killed???
A.

We do not have testing information for non-target animals and recommend that traps be kept out of the reach of pets.

FAQs

Rat Zapper® Ultra Trap - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where do I place the trap?

A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!

Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?

A: To bait the Rat Zapper®, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper® unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper®. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)

Q: How do I clean the trap?

A: Through repeat use and baiting, dust and debris can settle on the metal plates inside the trap, so we recommend that you clean your trap between each use. To clean the trap:

  • Turn the unit to the off position and remove the batteries
  • Use a hydrogen peroxide topical solution (available at most drug stores) and an old toothbrush to clean the inside of the chamber. Use a wire brush as needed to remove any corrosion, being careful not to be too vigorous. This could accidentally remove all of the protective zinc plating
  • Allow the Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap to air dry completely
  • Replace the batteries and turn the unit back on

Q: What type of batteries do I need?

A: The Rat Zapper® Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.

Q: What may affect the effectiveness of an electronic trap?

A: To ensure that your trap works when it is supposed to, keep the metal plates clean so the trap won’t trigger at the wrong time.

  • Don’t over-bait, as excess food could drop onto the plates and activate the trap, after which any rodent may safely enter to remove the food.
  • Make sure that the plates are clear of any debris, especially urine or hair from a recent kill that may interfere with the unit’s proper function. Remember, both plates need to be clean so that the electric circuit is made complete by the rodent stepping on both.

Q:What does it mean when the light blinks green? Red?

A: When you turn on the trap, the green light will stay on for 2 seconds to confirm the trap is on. Then the light is supposed to go off. The red light will blink to indicate a successful kill; however, in order to conserve battery, it only flashes about every 7 seconds.  A rapid blinking red light indicates that the batteries are running low and will need to be replaced.
