Let's face it: killing rats probably isn't one of your favorite things to do. Which is why the Rat Zapper Classic was made to be as humane, safe, and easy to use as possible. If you want a top-quality solution that will deliver years of dependable service, buy the electronic Rat Zapper Classic for quick control of your rodent problem.

If you have average-sized rats and a need for less than 20 kills per set of batteries, get the Rat Zapper Classic electronic rat trap, equipped with a large chamber size. However, if you are dealing with larger rats, consider buying the Rat Zapper Ultra (sold separately), equipped with the largest chamber size available and is suited to kill more than 20 rats per set of batteries.

How It Works

The Rat Zapper Classic is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when the rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, the rat steps onto the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a quick, humane 8,000 volt shock. Since rats have the ability to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes ensuring a high kill rate. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes red to indicate a kill. You can "zap" 20 rats with one set of 4 “AA” batteries, which makes it a truly effective rat trap.

Features

Easy to Use

How easy are they to use? Very--and that's just one reason why they're so popular--just insert batteries, bait, place, turn it on and relax. First, insert 4 “AA” batteries into the battery compartment. Using the entrance, bait the trap along the back wall using a small amount of peanut butter, dry pet food or nuts. Place the trap where you have seen signs of rodent activity or along the wall where rodents primarily travel. Turn on the Rat Zapper Classic. A red light will blink once indicating the trap is working properly.

Simple Setup

"Yuck"-Free Cleanup

The hands-free, "no touch, no view" disposal reduces the "yuck" factor of a common mouse and rat trap. Clean-up is easy and it can be reused indefinitely--your friends and family will want to borrow it for safe, humane rat elimination.

Safe and Sanitary

The Rat Zapper Classic is safe for use anywhere in the home. Built with high-quality electronics, recycled plastics, and recycled packaging, the Rat Zapper Classic is both effective and environmentally friendly. It is ideal for attics, garages, basements and sheds. While it's always wise to use caution around children and pets, there is no blood, mess, chemicals, or poisons with the Rat Zapper Classic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cannot say enough about this product! I heard about this product from a friend and received mine a little over a week ago. We had something living in the attic (it sounded like they were playing soccer up there). We didn't bait the trap for rats as the instructions suggested. I got up the next morning expecting to have maybe caught a mouse but to my wonderful surprise, we had a rat! We have now killed two rats and the noise has stopped. We have killed many mice in the garage and I took one of the traps to my in-laws. Well worth the price of traps and I have recommended it to many. I should get a commission as all of my friends are buying them!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from clean and effective I have been using one of these units for about 6 months. It works pretty good. Like all traps, the key is getting the pest into the trap. I like how clean this trap is and I can leave the dead rats out for the coyotes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They work! Last night I caught 3 mice & a big fat rat with 6 traps. Rarely have to rebait traps because they don't have much time for their last meal. :o) Sometimes the light is flashing without a catch.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A tool against chipmunks Love the rat zapper when it's working unfortunately after a short time we have some trouble getting it to work properly I called the company and they were very nice about telling me how to clean it. Still having some issues

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Easy! I bought three of the Rat Zappers for my chicken coup since I can't put poison out. After trying traditional traps where I might catch one every other day, I have a mouse in each trap every morning when I check it. So much easier and you don't have to touch the dead mouse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can't believe it's killing so many rats I bought a Rat Zapper a week ago because our backyard rat was getting all of our tomatoes. I baited the trap with dry dog food without turning it on for 2 days and let the vermin get comfortable with it. Then I turned it on at sunset. When I checked before bed the red led was flashing. Dead rat number one. I re-baited the trap. In the morning: dead rat number two. I didn't realize I had more than one rat, silly me. The next night I set an old Victor snap trap as well. I got 3 rats in one night. I'm housing a rat village under my deck and didn't realize it. I'm up to 9 former tenants so far this week. What's so nice is that the process is so safe and clean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BUY THIS IF YOU HAVE A RODENT PROBLEM This thing has 8 rats in the last month. Trick: Get some good stinky dry dog food. Put a pea size on the back on the plate and split one to lead them in...in a confined area. LOVE IT !

My trap was working and caught several mice. Now when I turn it on, I see a spark from one metal plate to the other and a buzzing sound with the light flashing. I cleaned it the best I could with a dry cloth but that didn't work. Is this a faulty trap?

Asked by: mouseslayer
To clean the trap we recommend turning it off and removing the batteries. Then it can be placed in a shallow container filled with an inch of warm water and mild soap. The trap should soak for about an hour then a small brush can be used to clean around the plates. Gently flush the bottom of the trap with clean water and allow to air dry.

I have the rat zapper classic. Used for a week and caught three mice and a chipmunk, then the last two nights when I check it the red lights flashing bait is gone, but no dead critters. Any idea what to do?

Asked by: Anonymous
If mice are taking the bait without a catch, we recommend cleaning the trap. To clean the trap, it can be wiped with a damp cloth (while the batteries are removed) and allowed to dry completely, or for a deeper cleaning, turn the trap off and remove the batteries. The trap can be placed in a shallow disposable pan with an inch of warm water and a squirt of unscented dish soap. After the trap has been allowed to soak for an hour, it can be scrubbed gently with a soft disposable brush. When the trap has air dried completely, the trap can be re-baited, the batteries replaced and the trap turned back on.

Can the Rat Zapper be used outdoors?

Asked by: richr
The trap is not designed for outdoor use. Any moisture, dust or debris that gets inside of the trap can cause it to not function properly.

FAQs

Rat Zapper Classic Trap - Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where do I place the trap?

A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!

Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?

A: To bait the Rat Zapper, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)

Q: What type of batteries do I need?

A: The Rat Zapper Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.
