Description

Victor® Poison Free® Yellow Jacket & Flying Insect Trap

Control yellow jackets, flies, and fruit flies with the Victor® Poison Free® Yellow Jacket & Flying Insect Trap. Ideal to use for picnics, camping, and cookouts, this trap is easy-to-use and reusable. Natural bait contains carbohydrates and protein, not hazardous sprays or aerosols and is effective in all geographic regions.

Directions for Use:

CAUTION: Assemble the trap inside and wash hands before going outside to hang the trap. The attractant is very powerful. Yellow jackets can sting and cause allergic reactions in some people.

  1. Open trap.
  2. Remove bait packet.
  3. Open and empty bait into the jar.
  4. Add 2/3 cup of water to bait or add water to Fill Line.
  5. Swirl water and bait together.
  6. Hang trap away from human or pet activity. If trap will be used during an outdoor activity where food is present, place traps out at least an hour before food is brought outside.
  7. As trap fill, add water to keep yellow jackets submerged.
  8. Once the trap is full, discard in your normal trash collection.

Tips:

  • During peak yellow jacket season the trap is full if yellow jackets enter holes and leave again. This means that the trap surface is entirely covered with insects.
  • In the early part of the season (spring) and later (fall), you may want to check the trap by carefully opening the top and looking inside the trap to determine if the trap is full. If you choose to check the trap, do so in the very early morning or in the evening when yellow jackets are less active.
  • Once the trap is full, discard in your normal trash collection.

Note:

  • The attractant will last about a week during normal temperatures. Extremely hot weather will cause the attractant to evaporate quicker.
  • The trap is not intended to be reused; however, if the surface of the inner board is still sticky and not full with insects, you may re-bait the trap with Safer® Brand Yellow Jacket Attractant available from your retailer. Re-bait inside and follow the precautions outlined above.

Great trap for yellow jackets!! By Diz

We have tried various types of traps, using various types of bait and have discovered that your trap seems to work the best at catching the queens. It all started when we set one of the traps a few feet from where they were getting into an old house, and have caught 25 of them and hundreds of others. Works great on hornets also. Then my brother set one on the ground near an apple tree, and within an hour we had two queens and several others. Thanks for an excellent trap for yellow jackets!!

I Love this Trap! By
My mother bought 3 different traps hoping @ least one would work, this one worked the fastest by far. She has had it for almost a week and it was so full there was no longer any fluid & had to add more water. I live in Minnesota & it is now getting cooler so the wasps & yellow jackets are getting more aggressive but there are fewer (so I thought). I was only seeing about 6 around my deck & less at a time so, I didn't expect to get many. The 1st day with in 3 hours of having it up there were 8 wasps & yellow jackets by 24 hours there are now 19 and it's been cold and drizzling. This stuff really does work!

I find it does catch hornets and wasps, but they got back out thru the holes.

Excellent trap if you have a yellow jacket or black wasp problem. Fill it half full with apple juice, dispose of dead yellow jackets every 2 or 3 days, clean and refill.

I use this in my yard in Anchorage. I put in about 2-3 inches of water and some salmon scrap. In the last two days I must have caught 100-200 bees. I love this trap, but the plastic is cheap and I had one crack once. I have reused this one for a few years. I try lots of meats, but salmon is the killer up here, at least that seems to draw the yellow jackets like crazy.

Q&A
Q.How do you safely dispose of the trap when the attractant inside the trap is still attracting yellow jackets? Don't want to move the traps to an outdoor trash bin, and then they circle the trash bins.
A.

The attractant will last about a week during normal temperatures. Once the trap is full, we recommend discarding in normal trash collection.

Q.Can you purchase just the lids to the yellow jacket and flying insect traps?
A.

We apologize, however, replacement lids are not available for this trap.
