Q.So for my highschool physics class, we have to make mousetrap cars, and these traps were the ones provided for us. I was wondering if there is any information regarding spring constants, stored energy etc. for the traps. Thanks!

The following values are approximations based on the examination of one of our existing snap traps:
 
In the tripped position the spring is still preloaded 120 degrees (2.09 radians).
In the set position the spring is 180 degrees (3.14 radians) from the tripped position and 300 degrees (5.23 radians) from the unloaded spring position.
 
Torsional Spring Constant:  K=0.075 N*m/rad 
Potential Energy in Tripped Position:  U=0.164 Joules 
Potential Energy in Set Position:  U=1.027 Joules

Q.If I reuse the trap, how should it be cleaned? Would a dead mouse's scent cause another mouse to avoid the same trap?
A.

We recommend cleaning the trap with warm soapy water, using unscented dish soap. The smell of a dead mouse would entice others to go to the trap or area where the smell is.

Q.Whats the best  way to load bate on your wooden trap? 
A.

I use tootsie rolls I chew it a little then wrap it around the trigger plate. Then I place the arm bar on the trigger and set it with the bait facing the wall. The tootsie roll method is a cooler weather method warmer weather will melt it.

We recommend using a toothpick to place a small amount of peanut butter on the trigger.
