Unhappy Customer By Melody

I would rate a zero if I could. The older model works great, this one sucks!!! We still have a few of the older ones, and they are the only ones that work. What a waste of money. Please go back to the older model.

Yes it really works! By Jean Bean

Yes - these really work. We live on the edge of Silver City, NM and have a lot of problems with Pack Rats. They chew vehicle wires, and get into the air vents and they make Cholla Cactus Nests on top of our 1972 Dodge engine. The Victor trap is a quick fast way to get them. Then we throw them over the fence into the wilds, and the next day they are GONE - some Coyote or Owl dinner. No poison used. Much better than all the other ways of dealing with this critter.

Love your traps they work over and over By Mrs Owlpaca

I love this style of trap, I have caught rats and mice the first day set both indoor and outside. When I use it outside I cover it with a wire basket so that I don’t hurt other animals like my chickens... I use them in my coup. This trap works over and over. Recently I have a smart rat who is opening the bait door and cleaning out the peanut butter bait without going into the trap so I will try some tape on the back... this has happened two nights in a row... dang rat!!!!

A great bonus use! By TK

Used this trap to easily get rats. But here is a surprise use. I used a Victor electronic rat trap with dry dog pellets to easily catch and kill a baby possum in my house. You are able to safely (without touching them) dump them out in the trash and you are done. Possums are the worst to get rid of and they cause way more damage then rats or mice. Now Victor need to build a larger one to be used in the attic to kill the adult possums.

I don't just recommend to friends, I recommend it to everyone! By The Mousenator

The ability to remove the battery/electronics off of this unit to clean has made maintaining these traps SO much easier. That was the only drawback of this units predecessor. Both units give reliable results, but the ability to clean easier is a definite plus. The square shape is also nice for stacking the traps when not in use or when carrying multiple units. This is not just a rat trap. It works GREAT with mice as well.

Q.What is the best way to clean the rat trap after I have caught a rat and disposed of it?

We only recommend cleaning the trap if the residue has built up to the point where a rodent would not touch the metal plates. If this has occurred we recommend removing the batteries then using a hydrogen peroxide solution and an old toothbrush to gently clean away the debris. Allow the trap to air dry completely before reinserting the batteries.

Q.My rat trap light is flashing green constantly, I have cleaned the trap as instructed and it carries on flashing ??

We recommend changing the batteries to a brand new set that was just recently purchased. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) with any questions or for additional assistance.

Q.What causes a buzzing SOUND and light to stay red.

If the unit is buzzing without a catch, we recommend cleaning it to make sure that there is no debris on the metal plates causing the trap to think a rodent is inside.

To do this:

  • Turn the trap off and remove the batteries.
  • Use a hydrogen peroxide topical solution (available at most drug stores) and an old toothbrush to clean the inside of the chamber. If needed, use a wire brush to remove any corrosion, being careful not to be too vigorous. This could accidentally remove all of the protective zinc plating.
  • Allow the interior and exterior of the kill chamber to air dry completely before reassembling.
  • Bait the trap.
  • Re-insert the batteries and turn the trap on.
