Sweeney’s® Sonic Spike™
Safely send moles and gophers scurrying from your yard unharmed with this easy-to-use mole and gopher spike. When placed in the ground and activated, sonic pulses penetrate the soil, emitting a sound which is highly irritating to moles and gophers who are virtually blind and overly sensitive to sound and vibrations. Climate permitting, leave the sonic mole and gopher repeller in the ground to repel new generations of pests.
The mole and gopher sonic spike is designed with a convenient removable battery sleeve for trouble-free battery replacement. A Spike will work for 4 – 6 months on one set of alkaline batteries*. Spike must be used continuously for 7-14 days before moles and gophers start to move away from the area.
Be sure to insert the Spike into the soil so that the cap is flush with the ground to avoid tripping hazards and the chance of hitting it with a lawnmower. Effectiveness depends largely upon soil type: dry, sandy or peat soil does not conduct the sonic waves easily. Moist clay is the best conductor of sound.
*Spikes use 3 "D" cell batteries, not included.

How to Use
- STEP 1-To open, unscrew YELLOW cap counter-clockwise.
- STEP 2-Remove battery cartridge and insert 3 "D" cell batteries. Re-insert the battery cartridge into the Spike. If battery installation is correct, you will hear the first vibrating sound within 15 seconds.
- STEP 3-Tighten the cap securely to keep moisture out.
- STEP 4-Use a wooden or steel rod to make pilot holes prior to inserting the Mole & Gopher Sonic Spikes™. To prevent damage, do not hammer the Spike into the ground.
- STEP 5-Insert Spike until the bottom of the cap begins touching the ground.
- STEP 6-Insert Spike all the way into the ground. This will prevent the chance of hitting it with a lawnmower. Be certain to insert the Spike so that the cap is flush with the ground. If it protrudes an inch or two it could be a tripping hazard. Remember whrere the Spike is located so it may be removed for battery replacement.
- STEP 7-Remove Sonic Spike™ when flooding may occur or before ground freezes.

Review RateA good product that seems to work.
I tried castor oil concoctions, worm baits, and poison, and moles always came back. After hearing how my son drove squirrels out of his attic with a sonic device, I bought two solar powered spikes for moles. I haven't see a trace for 4-5 weeks. In fact bought 2 more to protect other areas of the lawn. Question: The first two I bought didn't make any audible noise. The second two emit a high pitch squeal on a regular basis. Higher than the 400 Hz emission that is used to deter moles. What is "normal" operation? Thanks for making a great product.Response From Victor®Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative
Thank you for sharing this feedback. The spike should emit a sonic pulse every 30 seconds, sounding like a long, drawn out beep. Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) for additional assistance.
Review RateWorked for us....Problem solved
We live direct beyond the canal with a big gopher problem. I tried every trick out there from mothballs, smoking bombs, Gopher pellets. Nothing helped. Then I bought the Sweeney Gopher Spike. I waited for a fresh hole, removed the dirt till I found the tunnel. Then I placed the Spike direct into the tunnel.....Problem solved.Thank you Victorpest. I wish only the company would change the quality of the Spike. It last only for the season
Review RateSUXI have had two of these in the ground for a weeks and the beasts have new tunnels within inches of the stakes. They work so poorly that they only Repel me and nothing more.Response From Victor®Tara : Consumer Relations RepresentativeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback, we apologize for this experience.
Moles and gophers may initially dig closer to the sonic spikes to investigate where the noise is coming from. They may try to cover them with dirt, however you should see them moving away within 7-10 day

Review RateHorrible Investment - Totally Useless!I purchased two twin-packs of these spikes and installed them according to the box instructions. I was fine for about two weeks, then an onslaught of moles has turned my nice yard into a maze of tunnels. All 4 spikes are still beeping, but are doing nothing to keep moles out of my hard. One tunnel runs right past a spike - quite spiteful! I wish I had never purchased these things. Very frustrating.Response From Victor®Susan : Consumer Relations RepresentativeMoles may dig up to the spikes when they are first installed to investigate the source of the disturbance. A decrease in activity should be seen within 7-14 days. We apologize that this was not your experience and would like to learn more.

Review RateActually Works but be patientAfter battling gophers for couple of months on my back lawn, I decided to give this product a try as it was on sale at local hardware store and I had tried just about everything else. It seems to be working. I bought the solar powered one which seems to be a good idea based on some other comments about battery life. At first I thought it was not operating but then came to realize it only "beeps" about every 30 seconds, not constant. Also, as mentioned on the box it takes some days to become effective. The first day I had a hole near the same area, the next two days- holes but about 5 feet away from original area, finally after about 5 days and now for about a week- no holes. Hoping it continues to work and my back lawn can get back to normal.
Review RateDO NOT WORKI HAVE 5 OF THESE IN MY YARD AND I STILL HAVE MOLE ALL OVER THE PLACE. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Review RateundependableOne out of four did not work. After two seasons they all but one quit working. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
Review RateHelpful hints for SpikesMy spikes worked but it takes longer than 5 days. It took about 21 days to work. What would help if the company showed how to setup the spikes up (ex. how fare apart and locations). Also you must move them as the gophers start to leave. The hardest thing is to get the spikes in the ground. It would be very helpful if they had a tool go with it. Good Luck
Review RateSonic Spikes workWe have a severe problem with moles. I've had them pop up just after mowing a spot. I get turned around and there it is. They nest in the trees next to one lawn area and have terrorized the lawn. I put a spike here just before growing season and to date, not a single mole. The next area is very large and more than the 95 ft specified. I put a spike in the middle with about 95% success. The first mole that popped up was exactly on the stick. I believe there is one in the nest that suffers with tinnitus. Other than that I'm extremely satisfied.
Review RateMolesAfter trying various methods I noticed the Sonic Spikes at Lowes. Purchased one and it worked in the worst area of my yard. Just purchasedtwo more for my yard and will recommend product to my neighbors
