Description

Sweeney’s® Solar Sonic Spike™ PRO with Hyperpulse Technology™  - 6 Spikes

Solar Sonic Spike PRO

Chasing away moles, gophers and other destructive burrowing animals just got a whole lot easier. Using the sun – the strongest and least expensive power source available – the effective, eco-friendly Solar Sonic Spike PRO with Hyperpulse Technology emits powerful vibration and sound pulses that drive away burrowing animals without a scratch. This humane, poison-free mole and gopher repeller is safe to use around children and pets, so you can kick back and enjoy some peace of mind, not to mention a destructive-free yard.

How does it work?

Most underground animals are virtually blind, but nature has compensated nicely by giving them an acute sense of hearing and extreme sensitivity to ground vibrations. The Solar Sonic Spike PRO cunningly exploits that sensitivity by producing a penetrating sonic sound and vibration every 30 seconds using Hyperpulse Technology™. While the sonic pulses from the mole and gopher repeller don’t harm burrowing animals, the high pitched sound annoys the heck out of them and sends them scurrying away in a hurry.

Long-Lasting, Economical Protection from Burrowing Animals

If you have a large area to protect from underground enemies, don’t sweat it. Each cost-effective Solar Sonic Spike PRO provides a whopping 13,500 square feet (1/3 acre) of coverage. That’s a whole lot of bang for your buck.

Rain or shine, the Solar Sonic Spike PRO works around the clock to protect your lawn and garden from unwanted visitors. When fully charged by the sun, the maintenance-free solar powered sonic spike provides up to four days of uninterrupted power. So, when bad weather moves in (which it inevitably will) you can rest easy knowing your sonic spike is still hard at work repelling moles, gophers and other burrowing animals from your yard.

Built to last, the solar panel is protected from the elements in a watertight plastic housing with a unique mow-over design. The sonic mole spike, made from corrosion resistant aluminum, guarantees you will enjoy years of mole and gopher free gardening.

Operating Instructions

  1. To open, unscrew solar panel top cover counter-clockwise. Insert 3 'AA' rechargeable batteries (included) with the positive (+) side up. If battery installation is correct, you should hear the first vibrating sound within 30 seconds.
  2. After installing batteries, tighten the solar panel top to ensure complete weather protection.
  3. Make a pilot hole prior to inserting the Solar Sonic Spike into the ground.
  4. Insert the spike until the spike head is flush with the ground to prevent the chance of hitting it with a lawnmower or tripping over it. Do NOT hammer or push the spike into the ground as this may cause damage to the unit.
  5. Note the location of the unit so you can locate it when it’s time to replace the batteries or remove it for the season.

They seem to be doing the trick, but I will now have to put up flags to protect them, By Bill T

I bought 6 spikes. Over the first few weeks all appeared to be working. Later I noticed that one was not making a sound. When I pulled it up it was vibrating but at a much quieter level so I don't know if it was doing anything. On the positive side I have noticed a great reduction of activity to the point of few new tunnels. On the negative side, my gardener, who swore he could see them, has managed to run over them with the lawn mower and as broken all 6 heads. I did get reorder 3 more and he is getting 3 more so hopefully we will be back in business. I wish they could make the head strong enough for a riding mower's wheels.

Noticed changes within a week By Kskates

We've only used them a week, so I can't be exact with the review. We used these in conjunction with the traps and they seem to be making the moles move. The spikes do not bother the dogs. They sniffed at them and that was it.

junk By cliff

These things are junk. The damn moles continued to tunnel all around these things. We bought 6 stakes of junk

Response From Victor®
Lauren : Consumer Relations Representative

Hello Cliff,

When these spikes are placed into the ground, moles and gophers may initially dig towards them to investigate where the sound is coming from. In some cases, they may even kick dirt on top of the unit in an attempt to muffle the sound.

After 7-14 days of continued use, a reduction in their activity should be noticed. It can take a few days or weeks for them to completely leave the area.

We apologize for this experience and would like to learn more. Please contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-800-800-1819 x 458 with any questions.

Success, But it wont happen overnite. By Spidercrab2
I had / have Voles running all around the back yard and in the garden. I grew tired of planting a new plant to watch as they ate the roots and slowly pulled the plants down into their maze of tunnels. Out of desperation and trying everything except poison I bought a 3 pack of the Sonic Solar Spikes. The day they arrived I barely let them hit the porch and I was putting in the batteries and installing them in the garden.
The first spike I put directly into the raised garden bed and smiled as I walked away as it buzzed. The next morning I had lost two more plants overnight and new tunnels were in the raised beds as well as the lawn. On day 3 I woke up to find a vole had dug right next to the spike as if to say try again buddy. So I went and assembled the last two units and placed them at the edges of the garden area in the actual ground and not the raised beds. Over the next few days it seemed like I had more activity than normal and half my strawberry plants fell to the Voles. I sat and listened to each unit Buzz, Buzz, Buzz. Like everything before it I assumed this was nothing more than junk.
After just pure dis believe I had all but abandoned any hope for the garden and the back lawn this year. When a few days later I noticed no new tunnels. The few plants that had survived the Vole invasion were recovering and growing again.
So here we are 10 days later and all signs of the pesky little Voles are gone. No holes in the garden, no trails through the lawn. I can now get back to growing the garden again.
So the word of the day is patience. They wont run away overnight, but in my case at least they have gone away. Hopefully for good.

Disappointed after reading the reviews they got. By ESC1
I purchased one set of the solar sonic spikes, one did not work. I called and they sent me some new ones, out of 6 spikes only two are still working. Not sure what to do at this point as appears there is something wrong with them. Not sure if it is the solar panel on the top the batteries, etc. At this point very disappointed in the purchase of these spikes.

Good Purchase with Unexpected Use By Miles
I placed two in the ground to eliminate desert borrowers. It has been a few weeks and have not seen any new holes. The solar feature seems to be perfect. The third one I put on the patio up near the eaves of the house to discourage pigeons from roosting and it works! So far so good. If I can go through the summer without new burrows, then the product is 5 stars.

Moles

Moles are helpful in that they remove damaging insects and grubs from lawns and gardens. Unfortunately, however, their burrowing habits can destroy grass, gardens and flower beds and tear up tree roots.

learn about gopher and gopher trap

Gophers excavate soil from their tunnels, creating large, horseshoe-shaped mounds.  Gopher mounds are typically larger than Mole hills with the entrance hole at an angle to the ground surface.
