Description

Sweeney’s® Solar Power Sonic Spike™ - 3 Spikes

Sonic Spikes

Sweeney’s® Solar Powered mole and gopher repeller offers a poison-free way to drive away moles, gophers. Every 30 seconds, sonic pulses penetrate the soil, emitting a penetrating sound which is irritating to moles and gophers who are virtually blind and extremely sensitive to sound and vibrations. This method encourages moles to leave the property, and the solar operated spike continues to discourage return visits.

No batteries are required to operate the waterproof solar spike; one solar charge will last up to 5 days. The spike is built with a mow-over design and safe to use around pets. Allow 7-14 days before moles and gophers start to move away from the area.

View video for tips on how to drive moles from your yard with Sweeney’s® Solar Powered Sonic Spike™:

How to Use

  • STEP 1-Use a wooden stake or steel rod to make a pilot hole prior to inserting the Solar Powered Sonic Spike™ into the ground.
  • STEP 2-Insert the spike until the bottom of the spike head begins touching the ground to prevent the chance of hitting it with a lawnmower or tripping on it.
  • STEP 3-To activate, slide switch to "ON".
  • STEP 4-Remove Solar Powered Sonic Spike™ when flooding may occur or before ground freezes.

Do not buy By clay

I put three of these in my yard and the mole activity hasn't slowed down a bit. There is about a 2-foot radius around each spike where there aren't any holes or trails, but that is it. Definitely not the 75-ft diameter that was advertised. Not effective.

Response From Victor®
Susan : Consumer Relations Representative

When first installed, it is common for moles to burrow closer to the spikes, to investigate the source of the disturbance.  A decrease in activity can normally be seen within 7-10 days, once they realize the unpleasant environment is continuing.

We apologize for this experience and hope this information is helpful.  Please feel free to contact our Consumer Relations Team at 1-855-5-VICTOR (1-855-584-2867) with any additional questions.

Sonically rid moles By Carymac56
We moved to a new house surrounded on 2 sides by woods/natural area. We have had mole tunnels all through the yard. Bought and installed the Sweeney's Solar powered spikes and after one week have seen significant improvement, so bought 3 more to cover the rest of yard. Hopefully the victory will continue as well as it has started.

Solar mole spikes By Cop 793
I live in Louisville Kentucky. I built my home in May 2016. Every morning I was dealing with new mole tunnels. Became a daily ritual of stomping them all back down. Out of desperation I was willing to try anything. I went to the internet and began searching. I came across these spikes. For $45 it was worth trying in my opinion. They arrived within a day. I layer them in the sun for a day before installing them. They have been in he ground for about two weeks. I have not had any new tunnels since installing the spikes. Seems to be working.

Do not repel moles By Christian
Wanted to give these the full recommended time before review. After two weeks of function mole activity has not decreased and continues even as close as 18" from spikes. They are audibly toning so function is not the issue. They are properly installed in the ground per instructions and hard clay soil is supposed to be MORE sound conductive according to documentation. No effect on moles.

Mole spikes, solar By Andie
I installed one spike (small yard) a week ago. Have not seen any new evidence of moles. It seems to be working. I like the solar spikes because D batteries are expensive and annoying to have to replace. Solar energy is FREE!

Q&A
Q.Are the Solar Spikes meant to issue an audible beep when working ? If not, does it mean that they need charging ?
A.

When charged, this spike will emit a beeping, however it may not be audible when the spike is installed in the ground.

If the spike is not beeping, we recommend placing it in a sunny location to charge.

Q.Not sure if I have moles or voles. They are leaving mounded tunnels in my mulched areas around the foundation and also coming out into the lawn. Also doing root damage to ornamental shrubs in the mulched areas, lifting rose bush and holly bush right out of the ground. Will your sonic spikes work for either?
A.

The Sonic Spikes™ have only been tested to repel moles and gophers. We are unable to recommend their use for voles.

As an alternative method of repelling, we suggest our liquid or granular repellent, which has been tested to repel moles, gophers, armadillos, and voles.

Q.Are the Sweeney's Solar Powered sonic spikes water proof - rain, sprinklers...?
A.

The sonic spikes are designed to be waterproof and can be used in the rain. We recommend removing the product from the ground if flooding may occur or before the ground freezes.

All About
learn about mole and mole trap

Moles

Moles are helpful in that they remove damaging insects and grubs from lawns and gardens. Unfortunately, however, their burrowing habits can destroy grass, gardens and flower beds and tear up tree roots.

Gophers

learn about gopher and gopher trap

Gophers excavate soil from their tunnels, creating large, horseshoe-shaped mounds.  Gopher mounds are typically larger than Mole hills with the entrance hole at an angle to the ground surface.
