My friend and I have been using this trap, but the door seems to close on its own often. We're also concerned that door may close on a kitten (we're doing cat trapping). My friend taped a small stone to the mechanism that you pull back on the top to help wt. it down. Any other suggestions?
Thank you for your online review. The Havahart® Easy Set® Small Rabbit & Squirrel Trap (model 1083) is best used for trapping small rabbits, skunks, squirrels and mink. Unfortunately it would not be the size trap recommended for cats. For cats you will have better results using the Havahart® Feral Cat Trap Rescue Kit (model 1099). A larger trap like the 1099 will require a little more effort to be set off by a kitten ensuring the kitten will be fully enclosed inside the trap when the trap doors close.

I LOVE the easy set trap! My friend loaned me her old Havahart trap to trap squirrels & it works but it's difficult to set & release. I got the Easy Set one & it's fantastic! Told my Ace Hardware about the Easy Set & they want to order some to sell! :)
