Havahart® Large 2-Door Traps have been designed with the safety of the animals in mind. These raccoon traps, with two spring loaded doors, have many features to allow safe, quick and easy catches.
Havahart® Large 2-Door Traps are constructed of sturdy rust-resistant wire mesh with steel reinforcements for long life and galvanized for maximum resistance to rust and corrosion. Mesh openings are smaller than competing traps of comparable size to prevent escapes and stolen bait. Two spring-loaded doors allow animals to enter from either direction. Sensitive triggers ensure quick, secure captures that target the specific animal's size, eliminating undesired catches.
Solid doors and handle guards protect users during transportation, while smoothed internal edges protect and prevent injuries to animals. These raccoon traps are made in the U.S.A.

I have raccoons that raids my pond to eat my goldfish. I picked up the model 1045 and caught a young raccoon the first night. The next 2 nights, my sardine in the trap was gone, the trap door was closed but no raccoon.
I think the big raccoon was in the trap which I saw running on the fence a few weeks back. I figure he was in the trap, trip the door but his tail was preventing the door from closing all the way and lock. He finish his free meal and back out with not problem.

Havahart® Consumer Relations Response:
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the Havahart® Two Door Raccoon Trap (model #1045). As you have described, at times larger animals may have the ability to reach inside with their hind quarters partially outside of the trap, allowing them to back out stealing bait without being trapped. To prevent this it is recommended to set your trap as a one door trap. You will then place or even tie your bait at the far closed end of the trap. This will require the animal’s body to be completely enclosed inside the trap when it is set off.
We hope you have found this tip to be helpful. If you have questions or need assistance please do not hesitate to contact our Consumer Relations Team at the following:
We have a possum that is eating the dog food at night and 3 feral cats that like to fight with our 2 cats. I picked one of these up last night from a local retailer and nabbed one of the cats the first night!
Great product! Our local animal control officer wasn't aware these were available locally but will happily let folks know. :)
