If you’re looking for the best gopher trap on the market, look no further. Sweeney’s easy-to-set Gopher Trap 2-Pack protects lawns and gardens from gopher damage safely and effectively without the use of chemicals or poisons. A great value, the two fully assembled traps are extremely durable and weather-resistant for reusable application.
The easy-to-set traps can be set near fresh mounds or in the main tunnel with two placed traps 12-18” apart, one in each direction. Make sure the hole is covered so that light does not enter.
For easy trap retrieval, tie a string to the trap and secure it to a stake above the ground. Once a gopher is caught, the trap should be set at a different location. Most captures occur within 48 hours.

These critters have taken over our yard - so the gloves are off and this is war. Other reviews have covered how to plant these so I won't repeat. One piece of advice: Practice setting the traps multiple times so you feel comfortable working with them. Be prepared to get down and dirty since this is not a pleasant procedure. Removing the critter from the trap can be a little messy. I tried lots of other ways to make the gophers go away. We even put up signs: Gophers Not Allowed. But these traps do work. If I get no result in 2 or 3 days, I change the location. Then I leave the animal on our property as a message to others. By the next morning it is gone. Such is the cycle of life. Product recommended.

i give 5 stars because Great price, Quick delivery, and Product works Great 2 gophers down in less then 2 weeks i tried gases, poison, and flooding the tunnels. the traps work great
Amazon Review, great trapSeptember 25, 2013
second hole I put this trap in and I got gopher twice the size of the trap, he or she did not die though. I had to shoot with a bb gun also purchased through Amazon. Luckily I tied the trap to a tent spike or else he might of taken the thing into his den.

Took three days, and had to move them around to new tunnels, but finally caught the gopher. Best feeling in the world too. It looked dead when i took it out, as it was squeezing it by the stomach. But since these traps average about 5 dollars each, I didn't bother even taking it off the trap to dispose. Cheap solution, great traps.

I just got this today after having gopher activity for the past week and within 5 hours or so I caught one. Hopefully it was just one, but I doubt it. What I did: Located fresh mound Dug it out(with my hand) to locate the hole Placed the trap spike end forward in the hole Covered trap with a little dirt and placed a brick over the hole (So light didn't come in)

I had been shooting most of the gophers with my air rifle but that got time consuming and the survivors were clearly more elusive. So after ordering these traps late one night they were at my door the FOLLOWING morning shipped free. Took less then two hours to catch the first gopher visiting the garden and a little over three hours to get the one in the front lawn. Within about 12 hours hour's of ordering I had solved the gopher problem. Now a few months later I have still had to call on these on a couple occasions and with continued success. I must hate gophers because I love using these. The only things I could see people having a problem with: Half of the time these don't kill the gopher so you have to tie them off to a stake so they don't drag your traps away. It can also be a little tricky to position a set trap within a gopher hole. Luck seems to be a factor as sometimes the trap gets buried by dirt the rodents push around so could take some experimentation. These were not such a problem for me.

Until I got my Sweeney Gopher Traps, the gophers were destroying my yard! They killed a huge area of red-hot pokers, they had holes everywhere, they were eating up my garden. Every day I found new evidence of damage. I was getting a completely hopeless feeling and thought " so much for gardening". But then I discovered Sweeneys Gopher Traps. On the very first day I trapped three. Then I saw no damage for three weeks and no signs of new activity until this morning I saw more fresh activity and again I got another gopher. I had watched a YouTube video on how to use them. I use no bait and I just put the trap in the gopher hole and almost always within two hours I have my gopher. They are so easy to use and those stupid little ground rats invariably get caught in the trap within 2 hours. I feel so empowered!!

Okay, so I've been at war with the gophers in my yard and garden since last year. Last year gophers in my garden killed almost all of my veggie plants, I literally tried everything to kill them. Water, road flares, waiting with a shovel, poison, chewing gum, solar noise vibration thingy, coffee grounds and dryer sheets..... like I said EVERYTHING! I finally got fed up and purchased these traps, I saw mixed reviews but I wanted to try them neways. Well I got them and figured out how to set it, it was a tad confusing at first. After I got it I found a fresh hole and dug it out, set the trap then put it down the hole. I walked away and no kidding within 10 minutes that damn dumb gopher tried to push that trap out of the hole and SNAP! I dun keeled me my first gopher!! Lol, well I've had the traps for a hand full of week's now and I've already killed 11 gophers!! So if you're having gopher trouble get these traps and keel you sum gophers!!!! P.S, make sure you get some strong twine and tie it to the trap then make a loop and tighten it to a wooden dowel or what ever you want and stake the trap down so the trap cannot be ran off with!!
Amazon Review, They workJanuary 05, 2014
I've been fighting off gophers for almost 2 years using poison; although the poison works I feel these traps are far better. Why? - because you know when you get one and they are reusable (far more cost effective than poison). I've pulled 4 dead gophers so far but I'm pretty sure I've gotten others as there have been a few times I've pulled up the traps with fur on the pinchers. I've made enough progress with gophers on my property that I've been placing the traps at my neighbors.

I tried the typical methods for getting rid of a gopher and all were unsuccessful. After 2 days with this trap and a little peanut butter problem was solved. I don't like to harm anything but this pest was killing plants and destroying my backyard - thankfully I tried this product.

I have used a variety of traps. This seem to be the perfect size to catch young gophers to full size Gophers. Of the four varieties of traps I use, I am most successful with these.

I love these things. Never really liked killing things until now. Living in So Cal there aren't a lot of gophers per yard but when ever they pop up I set a trap and bam, caught another. They don't kill the gopher though. Just drop them in a bucket of water and walk away if you don't want to see them gasp. Would get five stars if it was easier to get them out of the trap. I just caught two this weekend and one was a half hour after setting the trap. About to order two more packs.
