I bought a Tin Cat yesterday, baited it with crunchy peanut butter crumbles, and left it against the wall as directed in my kitchen behind the stove near the dogfood. This morning I heard metallic tapping and found two cute and fuzzy little brown mousies inside. I drove them to a friend's horse barn on the edge of town, opened the top and released them, where they will find food and protection from the winter weather that is on its way here in the Rockies. One of them leaped out immediately and scurried away into the tall grass. The other hesitated in the small area near the entrance to the trap before accepting the invitation to freedom.
If they had only been potty-trained, I would have enjoyed their company! Thanks for helping me find them a new home.

Ive caught more mice with this then any other trap. To Tom: The little boxes are removable. Push on the floor of the trap and then you can slide them right out.

We started with one in the barn, it was placed close to the quail feed. Have had as many as 17 at one time. We now use several on the outside of house by foundation to control mice from coming in the house. It works and is the cheapest long term solution.
Tin Cat is great May 19, 2010

The Tin Cat is much much better at getting mice than our old useless pet cat. It is also better than any lethal traps I have used. It is made of metal so the mice cannot chew their way out which happens with plastic live traps. It is easy to open to make the release and then rebait. Peanut butter is irresistable to mice. The only caveat I have is that after years of use the mechanism can get clogged with dirt, bait remnants, rust etc. It would be great if the mechanism boxes could be easily removed for cleaning and then replaced.

It captured four mice the first night then I moved it one cabinet over and caught two more the next night. It even makes a faint metal clanging noise as they try to get out alerting you to the capture. I highly recommend this trap. It's going to stay in use all year from now on and I think this will be the last of my mice problems. Thanks Victor, Excellent Trap!!

Most airports have mice that come into the hangars in the fall months and they can really do a lot of damage to the airplanes. We deployed a number of these and many were almost full within a week. This is a carefree trap that does not need to be baited which helps avoid problems with insects. We could not be happier! Thank you Victor.

I caught eighteen pesky mice the first two weeks with the Tin Cat. I actualy don't care that much about letting them go down the street just to make problems for the next guy.
Mice ruined a nice Chrysler New Yorker of mine once. I made the big mistake of putting Decon in it. After setting traps all around my vintage Camaro last fall I caught eighteen mice the first week. I opened the hood and there was a mouse nest right on top of the motor. My new TIN CAT made short order of them and they got a burial at sea right along with the first dozen and a half.
Mice can cause thousands of dollars in damage in a very short time. Thank you Victor for helping me put the little rodents where they belong. I am ordering four more Tin Cats for my friends. Ginger

The Tin Cat Mouse Trap is like manna from Varmit-free heaven!
Within a day, my Tin Cat caught 3 pesky critters, out to ruin my carefree lifestyle.
Released into a field, Manny, Moe & Jack lived to fight-on another day; retaining a guilt-free conscience, I was quickly back to my life of luxury!
Thanks Victor!

I had used a cheaper model that was made of plastic before trying this one. The mouse would always find a way out of those... I was sure we had a rogue mouse in the basement because I had caught a glimpse of him once.
I deployed the Tin Cat with some smoked almonds that the mouse really seemed to like and the next morning, there he was! I took him down the street and released him. And now I can reuse the trap in case he comes back in the winter!

Me and my Dad went camping and on the first night we discovered 2 mice in the bath house. I had brought this trap that I had bought at the local Ace Hardware store. We put the trap against the wall with no bait and whithin 8 minutes both mice were in the trap. Only problem is that the lid is Extremely hard to open so the mice get a little jarred around and can fly out.
Cool Trap!!!

The trap has nothing to set. No fiddling. The mice flip open the trap door to get in and then can't get out.Nothing to break or hurt your fingers.

When we first got these traps, we caught 1 - 3 mice a night..I loved it...Then my Husband decided to put them in the dishwasher to clean them ans sterilize them...end ever since we haven't caught any, but they are getting in and eating the Peanut butter and crackers and getting out again...could the dish washing have done something to it?...your thoughts would be appreciated...Thankyou..Sheila :))

Thank you for your online review of the Victor® TIN CAT® Mouse Trap (M310).
We are sorry to hear you are having trouble with your Tin Cat. We do not recommend cleaning your trap in the dishwasher. Doing so may damage see-saw mechanized door designed to trap mice once they enter. Also rodents often carry parasites and pathogens including germs that carry the Hantavirus. These germs may outlive hot soapy water and remain present in your dishwasher after use.
