Review RateIneffective and not worth the money
These traps are ineffective for the rats in my area. The go in and set off the trap but are rarely killed. I have done everything possible to make sure they work, but they don'tResponse From Victor®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
We apologize for this experience. How much bait is being used? We recommend baiting with a toothpick amount of peanut butter on the back wall. Anything more than that, and the rodent may be able to access the bait without going all the way into the back of the trap. The device is activated when the rodent steps on two plates at the same time. If any bait is touching the metal plates, it could cause the unit to falsely activate or the rat may not receive the full shock that is needed to kill them.

This trap works great catching rodents. We love using it. BUT: the shocking plate came loose inside. The housing is too tight to get anything or fingers in there at the right angle to simply press (snap) plate black into it's plastic nib holders. It needs a design change giving access to interior. Also, that would help with cleaning as it does get gunked up and fails to catch rodents until cleaned. Rather difficult as designed now. Therefore a great rodent catcher gets 2 stars since it became an expensive throwaway much too soon.Response From Victor®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

1.Turn the power switch OFF and remove the batteries.
2. Get a shallow disposable tray into which your Rat Zapper® Classic can fit.
3. Fill the tray with approximately one-inch of warm water and a squirt of unscented dish detergent.
4. Immerse the lower portion only of your Rat Zapper® Classic in the pan for one hour.
5. Use a small, disposable, soft brush to gently clean around the metal plates.
6. Gently flush out the bottom of the Rat Zapper® Classic with fresh water. (no water in the upper compartment, please!)
7. Allow the Rat Zapper® Classic to air dry completely. (no air compressors!)
8. Replace the batteries and you’re back in biz!

I'm disappointed. I got your buy 2, get one. They have been placed where I have identified critters getting in. One started flashing after a week, but nothing inside. I reset, nothing. The other two apparently no activity. Did flashing start because batteries are failing after a week? I reset, and had same experience.Response From Victor®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative
Victor® has a long history of producing high-quality and reliable products. We apologize for this experience and would be happy to provide assistance.
When baiting the trap, we recommend a small amount (pea-sized) of peanut butter or similar high protein spread on the back wall. If the bait gets on the metal plates, it can prevent the proper operation.
