Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap - 8 Traps
If you're looking to get rid of one rat or several large rats, the Rat Zapper® Ultra will deliver years of dependable service. This electronic rat trap is humane, safe, and easy to use. From set-up and use through cleaning and maintenance, each zap will be a snap thanks to clear step-by-step instructions. Once the target enters the Ultra, two plates deliver a total of 8,000 volts for two minutes, ensuring high kill rates. And the "no touch" feature makes disposal a truly hands-off experience. 8 traps.
How It Works
The Rat Zapper® Ultra is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when the rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, the rat steps onto the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a quick, humane 8,000 volt shock. Since rats have the ability to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes ensuring a high kill rate. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes red to indicate a kill. You can "zap" 60 rats with one set of 4 “D” batteries, which makes it a truly effective rat trap.
Easy to Use
How easy are they to use? Very--and that's just one reason why they're so popular--just insert batteries, bait, place, turn it on and relax. First, insert 4 “D” batteries into the battery compartment. Using the entrance, bait the trap along the back wall using a small amount of peanut butter, dry pet food or nuts. Place the trap where you have seen signs of rodent activity or along the wall where rodents primarily travel. Turn on the Rat Zapper® Ultra. A green light will blink once indicating the trap is working properly.
The hands-free, "no touch, no view" disposal reduces the "yuck" factor of a common mouse and rat trap. Clean-up is easy and it can be reused indefinitely--your friends and family will want to borrow it for safe, humane rat elimination.
Safe and Sanitary
The Rat Zapper® Ultra is safe for use anywhere in the home. Built with high-quality electronics, recycled plastics, and recycled packaging, the Rat Zapper® Ultra is both effective and environmentally friendly. It is ideal for attics, garages, basements and sheds. While it's always wise to use caution around children and pets, there is no blood, mess, chemicals, or poisons with the Rat Zapper® Ultra.

Review RateWorks Quite WellOur warehouse borders a field and the rodents are trying to find a warmer place for the winter. We started using the product several weeks ago, bating with cat food, and are normally greeted with a blinking red light in the morning (with a confirmed kill awaiting inside). Thanks for a great product.
Review RateGreat rat catcher
We bought this a few weeks ago. It's a great product, since we have 4 guard dogs around, this is safe with them. We place them in different areas every night, these rats get smart and find a different route to bypass them.
Review RateWorks really well
We had three of the smaller zapper models and over the summer caught a total of 21 Norway rats! They had made a home under a playhouse. We used crunchy style peanut butter as bait.

Bought these about a month ago ...work good...only downfall is that if something like a leaf blows in to it it wont work.Response From Victor®Tara : Consumer Relations Representative
This trap was designed and manufactured to be used indoors for rats only. If this trap is used outside, the unit could potentially short out due to weather conditions, such as rain. So easy to use! We turned our back and the pack rats had infested our outdoor spaces!!! We are taking our space back - got 5 right off the bat, all within a week!!!!
Review RateWorks extremely well!
This product has worked extremely well for me. I am an avid urban gardner and for the first time in 13 years I have had problems with something eating all my vegetables at night including my 10 ft sunflowers! I put out cameras and was amazed to see the rat activity. I bought some poisons but was very worried about the other animals that might feed on the dead rodents and become sick from the poison. I came across this product in my online searching and couldn't be more pleased. Every night I put them out under the sunflowers and every night I get a rodent in each trap (I bought 3). It is easy to dispose of the rodents and easy to set up. I have been using sunflower butter and sunflowers to bait the traps. I feel so much more at ease knowing I am not potentially poisoning other animals/pets in our congested neighborhood. Thank you!
Review RateThe Rat Zapper is amazingWe weren't sure how well the rat zapper would work. After using it for several weeks we are very impressed. In fact we are buying more, We have caught mice, rats, and squirrels too.
Rat Zapper® Ultra Trap - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where do I place the trap?
A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!
Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?
A: To bait the Rat Zapper®, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper® unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper®. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)
Q: What type of batteries do I need?
A: The Rat Zapper® Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.
Q: What may affect the effectiveness of an electronic trap?
A: To ensure that your trap works when it is supposed to, keep the metal plates clean so the trap won’t trigger at the wrong time.
- Don’t over-bait, as excess food could drop onto the plates and activate the trap, after which any rodent may safely enter to remove the food.
- Make sure that the plates are clear of any debris, especially urine or hair from a recent kill that may interfere with the unit’s proper function. Remember, both plates need to be clean so that the electric circuit is made complete by the rodent stepping on both.
Q:What does it mean when the light blinks green? Red?
A: When you turn on the trap, the green light will stay on for 2 seconds to confirm the trap is on. Then the light is supposed to go off. The green light will also blink to indicate a successful kill; however, in order to conserve battery, it only flashes about every 7 seconds. A blinking red light indicates that the batteries are running low and will need to be replaced.
