From set-up and use through cleaning and maintenance, each zap will be a snap thanks to the easy-to-use design. The ultra-sized chamber is ideal for targeting larger rats that invade your property. This humane trap kills rodents using a high-voltage shock and since rats are able to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes to ensure higher kill rates. I purchased the zapper to get rid of a rodent. Put it in place on Sunday night and Monday morning the light was flashing. I was very happy. I had purchased all types of products to make a catch but they didn’t work.
Review RateReclaimed my yard and my car!
I have spent months trying to cull a smart and stubborn population of woodrats defoliating my yard, including one stubborn rat living in my car engine and riding to work with me. Live traps, glue traps, snap traps and the Nooskie traps were no match for this group of mensa rats, who managed to spring traps and steal the bait every time. They even deactivated the Nooskie and dragged it into their nest and chewed it up! The Zapper has reclaimed my yard and my car! I load the Zapper with a few cut chocolate covered almonds and usually within an hour it gets a rat - no escapes!
Review RateZapper Longevity
This rating is based on product longevity. I purchased 3 of the zappers for mice in two garages, and all 3 worked great for about 2 years. The traps were kept clean and always had good batteries. For the price it would be nice if the traps lasted longer.
Review RateWaste of $90
We purchased a large and small model for ground squirrels and mice. Followed all instructions. Nothing! It’s been a few weeks now and am extremely disappointed. Tried to give them enough time to work and the 30 days for return has passed. Sad to spend so much money on a product that does not work. They. Won’t go inside.Response From Victor®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
This product is recommended for indoor use only and is designed for mice and rats. We recommend moving the trap indoors and using it along a wall where rodents are suspected.

Review RateVery Poor Quality
This thing doesn't really even rate one star. Less than two years old, Less than 100 rodents and it's totally DEAD! I've cleaned it, replaced batteries, even taken it apart and tried to diagnose the circuit board. I will probably get another electronic trap, but it won't be one of these.Response From Victor®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateIt is USELESS and EXPENSIVE!
It is USELESS and EXPENSIVE! This has been going on for e year now. Multiple times I have added 'tasty' bait in the location suggested in the manual, be sure inside is clean, the batteries are new or have sufficient charge and NOTHING! The bait is gone, no dead critter! WHAT A WASTE!!!Response From Victor®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateNot happy
I actually purchased two of these traps so we would not have to poison some mice under our house. They started coming in thru a small crack in the back room beside a hotwater heater. So I set both traps in the room, Unfortunately, those mice never went inside the trap with the food. I still had mice for weeks with no luck. They would not go inside it. I had to use poison and now I'm dealing with odor of dead mice. Hopefully the smell will go away soon. I payed out $100 for traps. I wonder if I could return them.Response From Victor®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateNeeded a product that really works
i've had a very expensive bout with squirrels this year $1800 and $400 dollars damage to my vehicles. Sprays, Peppermint oil, ultrasonics didn't help a bit ! The RAT ZAPPER was the end of my problems. It took about a week but they paid off. I purchased 2 of the traps and the rodents met their just due. They paid a dear price for the vehicle damage, great product. Great alternative to other methods. Thanks B Heydt , Millersville ,MD

Rat Zapper® Ultra Trap - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where do I place the trap?
A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!
Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?
A: To bait the Rat Zapper®, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper® unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper®. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)
Q: How do I clean the trap?
A: Through repeat use and baiting, dust and debris can settle on the metal plates inside the trap, so we recommend that you clean your trap between each use. To clean the trap:
- Turn the unit to the off position and remove the batteries
- Use a hydrogen peroxide topical solution (available at most drug stores) and an old toothbrush to clean the inside of the chamber. Use a wire brush as needed to remove any corrosion, being careful not to be too vigorous. This could accidentally remove all of the protective zinc plating
- Allow the Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap to air dry completely
- Replace the batteries and turn the unit back on
Q: What type of batteries do I need?
A: The Rat Zapper® Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.
Q: What may affect the effectiveness of an electronic trap?
A: To ensure that your trap works when it is supposed to, keep the metal plates clean so the trap won’t trigger at the wrong time.
- Don’t over-bait, as excess food could drop onto the plates and activate the trap, after which any rodent may safely enter to remove the food.
- Make sure that the plates are clear of any debris, especially urine or hair from a recent kill that may interfere with the unit’s proper function. Remember, both plates need to be clean so that the electric circuit is made complete by the rodent stepping on both.
Q:What does it mean when the light blinks green? Red?
A: When you turn on the trap, the green light will stay on for 2 seconds to confirm the trap is on. Then the light is supposed to go off. The red light will blink to indicate a successful kill; however, in order to conserve battery, it only flashes about every 7 seconds. A rapid blinking red light indicates that the batteries are running low and will need to be replaced.
