Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap - FREE Rat Tale
If you're looking to get rid of one rat or several large rats, the Rat Zapper® Ultra will deliver years of dependable service. This electronic rat trap is humane, safe, and easy to use. From set-up and use through cleaning and maintenance, each zap will be a snap thanks to clear step-by-step instructions. Once the target enters the Ultra, two plates deliver a total of 8,000 volts for two minutes, ensuring high kill rates. And the "no touch" feature makes disposal a truly hands-off experience. Includes FREE Rat Tale remote indicator light that flashes up to 20 days when the Rat Zapper® has a kill.
How It Works
The Rat Zapper® Ultra is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when a rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, the rat steps on the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a quick, humane 8,000 volt shock. Since rats are able to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes ensuring a high kill rate. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes red to indicate a kill. You can "zap" 60 rats with one set of 4 “D” batteries, which makes it an effective rat trap.
Easy to Use
How easy are they to use? Very--and that's just one reason why they're so popular--just insert batteries, bait, place, turn it on and relax. First, insert 4 “D” batteries into the battery compartment. Using the entrance, bait the trap along the back wall using a small amount of peanut butter, dry pet food or nuts. Place the trap where you have seen signs of rodent activity or along the wall where rodents primarily travel. Turn on the Rat Zapper® Ultra. A green light will blink once indicating the trap is working properly.
The hands-free, "no touch, no view" disposal reduces the "yuck" factor of a common mouse and rat trap. Clean-up is easy and it can be reused indefinitely--your friends and family will want to borrow it for safe, humane rat elimination.
Safe and Sanitary
The Rat Zapper® Ultra is safe for use anywhere in the home. Built with high-quality electronics, recycled plastics, and recycled packaging, the Rat Zapper® Ultra is both effective and environmentally friendly. It is ideal for attics, garages, basements and sheds. While it's always wise to use caution around children and pets, there is no blood, mess, chemicals, or poisons with the Rat Zapper® Ultra.

Review RateNot happy!
The rodents keep taking the bait without being killed. I changed the batteries and got one then the stole the bait for a week. I changed the batteries again and got one. Then nothing again.Response From Victor®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative
We apologize for this experience and would like the opportunity to learn more.
When baiting the trap, we recommend using a small amount (pea-sized) of peanut butter or similar high-protein spread on the back wall. If the bait gets on the metal plates, it can prevent the trap from operating properly.

Review RateSad it has not worked
I bought this rat zapper about 1 month ago and I have moved it to 3 different locations. I have yet to get a rat with it but I have gotten 5 with my old box trap. I am very disappointed in this product.Response From Victor®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

We recommend placing the trap along a wall where rat activity has been seen, baiting with a small amount of peanut butter on the back wall.

Review RateIt got 'em.
We thought we had a critter running around in the walls and ceiling so I bought 3 of your Rat Zappers with the Rat Tales. I chose that model because I was unsure what we were dealing with. After setting all 3 in different locations I got 10 mice in the first week in just 2 of the units. The third one is a in bad location I guess. It's been nothing for several days now but we might just have ran out of mice. These are the best products that I have ever used so far. I intend to put these vermin on the "Endangered Species List" soon - at least in our house. While researching for a trap I decided on these because I saw there were from Victor who I consider to be the only real trap people. I have had worthless Dollar store mouse traps that fall apart just trying to set them. The Victor traps are quality built.
Review RateThis produceworks as advertised
After setting up the Zapper and finding a good place to position away . In 1 hour, I zapped my first rat. Yippee. This really works.
Review RateAwesome and worth the money
I use this trap in a crawlspace under my house. I've killed two rats now and I love that I can empty the trap without having to look at my handiwork. I use a bit of dry dog kibble as bait. The best part is the rat tail. We only get the occasional rat down there and the crawl space is hard to access through a small trap door. I just leave the trap in there with the tail sitting outside the door. Every now and then I see the flashing light and know that an unwanted guest has had an electrifying meal :) I hate rats so not having to handle the carcass is awesome. It's also way easier to set than a snap trap. I also like not having to check on the traps regularly since I can just wait for the tail to flash. Awesome product and worth the money!
Review RateWorks but batteries do not lastI like that the zapper eliminates rats as humanely as possible, but the batteries do not last as advertised. Mine took care of one rat in my attic, then a few days later misfired on another rat (who's been avoiding it carefully ever since), and then would not reset again less than a month later. So 60 kills or 2 years standby is very misleading. I used brand new, brand name, alkaline batteries.
This product would be much better if it had the option to run on a rechargeable pack, maybe using a couple of 18650 lithium cells.
ps, the rat-tale is a must have for attic use!Response From Victor®Patty : Consumer Relations RepresentativeWe apologize for this experience. This feedback will be shared with our Product Manager for review.

Review RateHeebie jeebiesI bought this a few weeks ago after finding a dead rat in my spare closed off bathroom.
I freaked out and got hysterical and went on a mission to find out if there were more. I ordered this device and baited it and was stoked to rid myself of this nightmare. Nothing happenned for weeks. I thought maybe there were no more but then i started finding evidence. I moved it all over my house and even contacted victor to see what I was doing wrong. 4 days ago I found the entrance. A hole in my wall behind my fridge. I placed the trap directly in front of the hole. I've caught 2 in 2 nights.
Super easy disposal and I don't know what I would do without this device because I am absolutely disgusted by rats and I'd never be able to handle glue or snap. Don't even have to see the body but somehow I always look to see what I caught. Reset now and hoping to go 3 for 3.
I'm even considering ordering more because I'm so mortified there's rats in my home
Review RateGreat trap!Don't even have to look at the pest! I just get a garbage bag and dump and reset.
Review RateMY ZAPPERBought the zApper added the batteries and a little bird food and hit the switch. Easy!! Have zapped 7 mice in less then two weeks. Thought I had 1 or 2 mice in the attic. No mess no fuss no blood and guts. Great product
Review RateDoes not work in higher humidityWorks well in dry summer conditions but not when humidity rises. Had it in boat on trailer and in dry, covered shed but red light keeps flashing even when no kills. New batteries too. Disappointing as this is the time rats want to nest indoors. Back to using plastic snaptrap.Response From Victor®Patty : Consumer Relations RepresentativeWe appreciate the time taken to provide this feedback and apologize for the experience.
Since this product is an electronic device, we recommend using it indoors in a climate controlled environment. Though it is covered in the shed or boat, outdoor environments such as high humidity can affect the electronics.

Rat Zapper® Ultra Trap - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where do I place the trap?
A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!
Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?
A: To bait the Rat Zapper®, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper® unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper®. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)
Q: What type of batteries do I need?
A: The Rat Zapper® Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.
Q: What may affect the effectiveness of an electronic trap?
A: To ensure that your trap works when it is supposed to, keep the metal plates clean so the trap won’t trigger at the wrong time.
- Don’t over-bait, as excess food could drop onto the plates and activate the trap, after which any rodent may safely enter to remove the food.
- Make sure that the plates are clear of any debris, especially urine or hair from a recent kill that may interfere with the unit’s proper function. Remember, both plates need to be clean so that the electric circuit is made complete by the rodent stepping on both.
Q:What does it mean when the light blinks green? Red?
A: When you turn on the trap, the green light will stay on for 2 seconds to confirm the trap is on. Then the light is supposed to go off. The green light will also blink to indicate a successful kill; however, in order to conserve battery, it only flashes about every 7 seconds. A blinking red light indicates that the batteries are running low and will need to be replaced.
