Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap Eliminate your rodent problem quickly and effectively with the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap. From set-up and use through cleaning and maintenance, each zap will be a snap thanks to the easy-to-use design. The ultra-sized chamber is ideal for targeting larger rats that invade your property. This humane trap kills rodents using a high-voltage shock and since rats are able to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes to ensure higher kill rates. To get started, simply apply a high protein bait in the provided bait cup, place the trap in a location with high rodent activity and turn it on.Best used for:AtticsGaragesBasementsKitchensHigh-Voltage Shock Humanely Kills Rodents The Rat Zapper® Ultra is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when a rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, it steps on the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a continuous high-voltage shock for 2 minutes to effectively eliminate rat invader. This trap is capable of eliminating up to 60 rats per set of fully charged batteries (4 “D”).LED Light Alerts With the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap, simplifying your pest control routine is a breeze. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes red to indicate a kill. You’ll know when it’s time to empty your trap without having to check manually. Plus, the convenient LED light function will not only notify you of a catch, but it will also alert you when the trap’s battery is running low by rapidly flashing red.No-Touch Cleanup With the Rat Zapper® Ultra, cleanup is effortless! Unlike standard rat traps, you don’t have to touch or look at dead rodents. The rat is contained within the kill chamber, which hides it from sight, while the indicator light lets you know when it’s time to empty. After a kill, just tip the trap to discard the dead rodent into the trash without having to touch it.How to Set the Rat Zapper® Ultra For your convenience, the Victor® Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap is very easy to use. Review RateGreat trap and Victor is a great company to deal with!
I have tried may types of traps in my barn for the control of rats, mice and even shrews. This trap works the best of anything that I have ever used. I am trying to do away with use of poison and am very pleased with their success. Recently I had one of these start using up batteries way faster than previous and was just as pleased with the customer service at Victor and the replacement of my trap under warranty as with the performance of the trap! I plan to purchase more in the future as I expand my "trap line"!
Review RateProduct does work
We live near a wooded area and we have bird feeders. I place the traps outside under a rain protected area. I pretty much lose count of the number of rodents it kills. Easy to dispose of rodent and clean.
Review RateTrap stopped working
My rat trapper worked pretty well so I bought 2 more ultra rat trappers. And then the older trap’s red light started blinking repeatedly. I cleaned it with hydrogen peroxide thououghly and replaced the batteries but nothing helped. I called customer service and they told me to do what I’ve already done twice and assured me that the problem was weak batteries. Replaced them again and the red light continued to blink. Out of warranty, they said sorry. Very expensive trap at $50 for it to last a year of intermittent use.Response From Victor®Kathryn : Consumer Relations Representative
Your feedback is appreciated, thank you for taking the time to provide it. We have shared your comments with our Product Managers. The blinking light described is for a low battery. Review RateI don't know what's going on
I haven't caught a single rat although the light keeps blinking every morning I go check the traps and see the lights blinking thinking finally, sweet! Go and check, baits gone and there's nothing I don't know what's going on cause I have the rat zapper and also the wooden traps but it seems that nothing is going to help me out and I don't know what else to do cause I don't want to use poison due to the owls, hawks, eagles and cats near my houseResponse From Victor®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
For the best results, we recommend baiting the trap with a small pea size amount of bait on the back wall of the kill chamber. Anything high in protein works well such as peanut butter, nutella or a hazelnut spread. It is also important to note that this trap is designed for indoor use only. Using the trap outdoors could cause the unit to malfunction and will also void the warranty.

Review RateGreat product!!
Well, even though these are only rated for inside use, we decided to buck the rules and use them outside, under some covered areas (we live in a rural area). First, we bought two medium storage-type boxes and cut a good size hole on one end of each. Then we placed the traps, using dry dog food as bait, into each box (one under a portico and the other under a car in a covered carport. Within a day, we caught a HUGE rat in the trap under the portico. Two days later, another one. Now, nearly one year later, we've lost count of the number of rats and mice we've caught between the two. Unfortunately, we've found that, because the traps are outside, we go through batteries a lot -- but, trust me, it's cheaper than the destruction the rats were causing. The one thing we've learned is to be patient and clean the traps after each 'catch'. (We just discovered some damage in a car under another carport so we'll be buying more Zappers tomorrow.)
Works just fine. A few pieces of dog food and they go right to it.
Review RateWhat do I do to get them to catch mice.
I bought two of the rat zappers and both have quit working. I set them and come back later with the red lights blinking but no rodent. Caught one mouse and now neither trap is working any more with new batteries. Would like to catch more but they will not work properly.Response From Victor®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
We recommend cleaning the trap by turning the trap off, removing the batteries and wiping down the kill chamber with a hydrogen peroxide solution. After the trap is fully dry, we recommend baiting the back wall of the kill chamber with a toothpick amount of peanut butter (nothing should be touching the metal plates). Anything more than that and the rodents may be able to access the bait without getting the full shock needed to kill them. Then, the batteries can be re-installed and the trap turned back on. A green light should flash once indicating the unit is working correctly.

Review RateNot happy
I actually purchased two of these traps so we would not have to poison some mice under our house. They started coming in thru a small crack in the back room beside a hotwater heater. So I set both traps in the room, Unfortunately, those mice never went inside the trap with the food. I still had mice for weeks with no luck. They would not go inside it. I had to use poison and now I'm dealing with odor of dead mice. Hopefully the smell will go away soon. I payed out $100 for traps. I wonder if I could return them.Response From Victor®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateNeeded a product that really works
i've had a very expensive bout with squirrels this year $1800 and $400 dollars damage to my vehicles. Sprays, Peppermint oil, ultrasonics didn't help a bit ! The RAT ZAPPER was the end of my problems. It took about a week but they paid off. I purchased 2 of the traps and the rodents met their just due. They paid a dear price for the vehicle damage, great product. Great alternative to other methods. Thanks B Heydt , Millersville ,MD

Rat Zapper® Ultra Trap - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where do I place the trap?
A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!
Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?
A: To bait the Rat Zapper®, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper® unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper®. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)
Q: How do I clean the trap?
A: Through repeat use and baiting, dust and debris can settle on the metal plates inside the trap, so we recommend that you clean your trap between each use. To clean the trap:
- Turn the unit to the off position and remove the batteries
- Use a hydrogen peroxide topical solution (available at most drug stores) and an old toothbrush to clean the inside of the chamber. Use a wire brush as needed to remove any corrosion, being careful not to be too vigorous. This could accidentally remove all of the protective zinc plating
- Allow the Rat Zapper® Ultra Rat Trap to air dry completely
- Replace the batteries and turn the unit back on
Q: What type of batteries do I need?
A: The Rat Zapper® Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.
Q: What may affect the effectiveness of an electronic trap?
A: To ensure that your trap works when it is supposed to, keep the metal plates clean so the trap won’t trigger at the wrong time.
- Don’t over-bait, as excess food could drop onto the plates and activate the trap, after which any rodent may safely enter to remove the food.
- Make sure that the plates are clear of any debris, especially urine or hair from a recent kill that may interfere with the unit’s proper function. Remember, both plates need to be clean so that the electric circuit is made complete by the rodent stepping on both.
Q:What does it mean when the light blinks green? Red?
A: When you turn on the trap, the green light will stay on for 2 seconds to confirm the trap is on. Then the light is supposed to go off. The red light will blink to indicate a successful kill; however, in order to conserve battery, it only flashes about every 7 seconds. A rapid blinking red light indicates that the batteries are running low and will need to be replaced.
