Rat Zapper® Ultra - 2 Pack
If you're looking to get rid of one rat or several large rats, the Rat Zapper® Ultra will deliver years of dependable service. This electronic rat trap is humane, safe, and easy to use. From set-up and use through cleaning and maintenance, each zap will be a snap thanks to clear step-by-step instructions. Once the target enters the Ultra, two plates deliver a total of 8,000 volts for two minutes, ensuring high kill rates. And the "no touch" feature makes disposal a truly hands-off experience.
How It Works
The Rat Zapper® Ultra is equipped with smart circuit technology that senses when the rodent enters the trap. Once the rodent is inside, the rat steps onto the metal plates, completing the circuit and the trap delivers a quick, humane 8,000 volt shock. Since rats have the ability to restart their hearts, the shock is applied for 2 minutes ensuring a high kill rate. Each time the trap catches a rat, the light on top of the trap flashes red to indicate a kill. You can "zap" 60 rats with one set of 4 “D” batteries, which makes it an effective rat trap.
Easy to Use
How easy are they to use? Very--and that's just one reason why they're so popular--just insert batteries, bait, place, turn it on and relax. First, insert 4 “D” batteries into the battery compartment. Using the entrance, bait the trap along the back wall using a small amount of peanut butter, dry pet food or nuts. Place the trap where you have seen signs of rodent activity or along the wall where rodents primarily travel. Turn on the Rat Zapper® Ultra. A green light will blink once indicating the trap is working properly.
The hands-free, "no touch, no view" disposal reduces the "yuck" factor of a common mouse and rat trap. Clean-up is easy and it can be reused indefinitely--your friends and family will want to borrow it for safe, humane rat elimination.
Safe and Sanitary
The Rat Zapper® Ultra is safe for use anywhere in the home. Built with high-quality electronics, recycled plastics, and recycled packaging, the Rat Zapper® Ultra is both effective and environmentally friendly. It is ideal for attics, garages, basements and sheds. While it's always wise to use caution around children and pets, there is no blood, mess, chemicals, or poisons with the Rat Zapper® Ultra.

Best rat trap I’ve ever used.I was really pleased with the customer service also.
Review RateOutstanding Results with the Rat Zapper Ultra!
Outstanding Results with the Rat Zapper Ultra! 1st month had 21 rats and 2 mice killed. We use an marker on the side of the Rat Zapper to track the kills. We have an outdoor kitchen refrigerator and vehicles that were all severely damaged by rats. Rats chewed insulation under refrigerator and vehicle hood, refrigerator plastic water lines, power cords, car rubber vacuum lines and air filters. We keep all areas very clean, no food left out. We live in the country so it's to be expected. Cost of fixing everything is high and time consuming. What draws the rats into these areas is to nest. But having to fix all these things turns anyone into "the Punisher" where all must die. Since we started using the Rat Zapper Ultra we have had no damage what so ever! I've never had an issue that Victor has not fixed. Victor support has been Outstanding!
Review RateKilled that rat.
Killed that rat. Big as a squirrel. Only took two days. No more chewed up CAT-5 cables, telephone lines, USB cords, etc.
Review RateGreat product ... just give it time.
First of all, we live in a rural area where rats, mice, gophers, etc., are an everyday way of life. Unfortunately, we have neighbors who have horses and who are lax in keeping the feed under wraps. Thus, the rats think they have a smorgasbord at the neighbors and, when the mood suits them, they try our house for dessert (we have fruit trees .... ). Our dog has been going crazy trying to catch one elusive rat that used our wisteria highway to get to our Japanese pear tree so, in order to alleviate her stress, we thought we'd try the Rat Zapper (Note: I didn't have high hopes). Despite what the instructions said, we put one of the Zappers under our outdoor pool table (under a portico), and bated it with dog food. It sat there for about a week without any results. One evening, I looked out and saw a red light flashing. When I mentioned it to my husband, he calmly said, "Oh yeah ... I noticed that." I immediately went out to check and saw the little feet and long tail of a good sized rat hanging out the trap. Hooray!! Caught the little beast. My husband disposed of the rat and reset the trap. Lo and behold, within three days, there was the blinking light ... and another set of feet and a tail hanging out of the trap. Call it a small victory but it made me a believer in the Rat Zapper -- especially if you could have seen the size of those rats!!
Review RateExcellent product.
The Rat Zapper Ultra is highly effective. Although we do not have rats in Alberta, we do have mice and the regular traps are messy and cruel. The Rat Zapper is practically instant, the 4 D cell batteries can last up to 2 years and it is easy to empty.
I purchased 3 of these units because we knew we had more than one rat running around the house in different area. We have tried several different types of bait and placed the units in areas where there have been rat droppings and evidence of chewing. It has been several weeks and still have not caught any rats in these units. I really had high hopes for these items but am very disappointed. I tried other Victor rat traps and since we had no success with them we decided to try the Rat Zapper but have had no luck with these either.Response From Victor®Jennifer : Consumer Relations Representative
We apologize for this experience. What type of bait is being used? We recommend baiting the trap with a toothpick amount of peanut butter on the back wall. Sometimes, placing a trail of bait up to the trap will help entice the rodents into the trap.

Review RateGreat Produce that works great for mice and roof rats
The Zapper did the trick! I had a little nest of roof rats foraging around. I tried several methods (glue, snaptraps) that worked moderately well, but putting some Cheerios and dry dog food in the front (as a tease) and in the back behind the charge plate did the trick. Caught numerous rats of all sizes, with no muss or fuss. Best part is Rodent Extraction. Just tip it downward, dead rodent slips into a bag, ...add a little food, flip the switch back to "ready" (great flashing green light for a few seconds) and DONE!. The Zapper also has a great feature of the warning light flashing red when it's been tripped, so you can see it in the dark, from a distance! Set up is easy, just drop in 4 "D" batteries and flip the switch. Yes, it's that simple. To think I almost spent thousands on a professional exterminator. Thanks Zapper!
Initially I am excited. No more setting snap traps. all I have to do is bait and wait. Easy clean up. 1 day in got the first rat. 3rd day got the 2nd rat. After clearing the trap and re baiting and re setting the green light is blinking. I didn't know how old the first set of batteries was so I bought brand new ones. I set the trap, green light comes on we are all good. Checked the next morning and the red light is blinking. Hmmm, no Rat and no Bait. So I re baited and tried to reset the trap and this time no green light. got another set of batteries just to make sure but still nothing. Opened up the controls to make sure nothing came loose or shorted out. All looked good and still nothing. Lost $59.....Response From Victor®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

Review RateWorks, but battery cost is expensive. Impossible to clean. No customer support.
The Rat Zapper with 4 D cells works. BE PREPARED TO ADD A NEW SET OF D-CELLS every couple of months whether you catch anything or not...That's about $6.00 a set or $36 a year in batteries. I have 3 traps so THAT IS $108 A YEAR ! Also, it is constructed so that it is almost impossible to clean the decomposed dead rat tissue from on and around the bottom electrode. The company has never responded to any information emails. Critters crawling over and on the trap have more than once stepped on the rocker power switch and turned it off and subsequently retrieved the bait (It is easy to know that you have set it properly, because the bright green LED flashes for about 2 seconds when it is turned to on.)Response From Victor®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative
We are very sorry to learn about this, Bill, and appreciate the feedback.
To clean this trap, we recommend the following steps.
1. Remove the batteries.
2. Fill a shallow disposable pan with 1 inch of hot water and a dab of dish soap.
3. Allow the unit to soak for one hour.
4. Gently scrub the metal plates with a disposable bottle brush.
5. Rinse the metal plates with clean water. Be sure no water touches the upper portion of the trap.
6. Allow to air dry completely.

Review RateZap? More like zip.
I had high hopes for this, but it's been a failure so far. I've tried several kinds of bait and several different locations, but have yet to catch a rat. I know they're there, but so far they are keeping their distance. Also, when I ordered the unit, I understood it was to be packaged with a rat tale indicator, but it was not in the box when it finally arrived. I will try it for a few more days, but without any results, I will be asking for a refund.Response From Victor®Patty : Consumer Relations Representative

Rat Zapper® Ultra Trap - Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where do I place the trap?
A: Place the trap along the wall where rodents primarily travel or where you have seen signs of rodent activity. Rats are wary critters and they’ll initially avoid anything new in their environment. Good news is we’re smarter than they are! It may take a few days or nights for the first rat to enter your trap but be patient!
Q: How do I bait the trap?/What should I use to bait the trap?
A: To bait the Rat Zapper®, first make sure the trap is turned off. Place the bait along or on the back wall of the trap. Be sure to use gloves or a tool to bait so your scent is not transferred onto the trap. We’ve carefully researched dry pet food and found it an excellent lure. Other dried baits (nuts, dehydrated fruit, etc.) can also work well. Goopy Bait Note: Please don’t place moist or goopy bait in your Rat Zapper® unless you place it in a plastic container, like a medium plastic bottle cap, and then slide it to the back of your Rat Zapper®. (Otherwise you may goop the electronics and/or falsely trip the system.)
Q: What type of batteries do I need?
A: The Rat Zapper® Ultra requires 4 “D” alkaline batteries which will provide approximately two years of stand-by power. Use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure the best results.
Q: What may affect the effectiveness of an electronic trap?
A: To ensure that your trap works when it is supposed to, keep the metal plates clean so the trap won’t trigger at the wrong time.
- Don’t over-bait, as excess food could drop onto the plates and activate the trap, after which any rodent may safely enter to remove the food.
- Make sure that the plates are clear of any debris, especially urine or hair from a recent kill that may interfere with the unit’s proper function. Remember, both plates need to be clean so that the electric circuit is made complete by the rodent stepping on both.
Q:What does it mean when the light blinks green? Red?
A: When you turn on the trap, the green light will stay on for 2 seconds to confirm the trap is on. Then the light is supposed to go off. The green light will also blink to indicate a successful kill; however, in order to conserve battery, it only flashes about every 7 seconds. A blinking red light indicates that the batteries are running low and will need to be replaced.
