The M130 Quick Set traps may be over-baited. Try to use the very least
amount of bait possible in any style mouse trap you use. Strangely, the
more bait you use, the easier it is for these nimble creatures to remove
it without disturbing the traps. Try to make them struggle to get the
bait, and in doing so, apply extra force to the trigger pedal with their
nose/tongue to remove the bait. This technique alone will often result
in a catch.
Smear a thin layer of peanut butter over the end of the bait pedal,
pressing it down into the "+" shaped hole. Remove the excess protruding
through the bottom of the hole. With this thought in mind, another
possible bait would be a small piece of a cotton ball attached to the
pedal with short pieces of dental floss tied through the "+" shaped hole
in the trigger. The mice will see this as possible nesting material and
tug to free it from the trap which will result in it triggering.
