Roach Problems...
Cockroaches are the longest
surviving insects. Early fossils show that cockroaches lived over 300 million
years ago. The two most common species of cockroaches found in Canada are the
German cockroach and the American cockroach. They live just about anywhere and
feed mostly at night, eating almost anything. They prefer carbohydrates to
protein and fat. They can also produce an offensive odor and can develop into
very large populations, especially in warmer climates.
Cockroaches can reproduce
at an alarming rate, with each female reproducing up to 48 new cockroaches every
30 days. The adults usually live for a one-year. They prefer warm, damp areas
close to food sources. They have a waxy outer coating that prevents them from
dehydrating.
